Use of Campath for Induction and Maintenance Therapy in Pancreas After Kidney Transplantation

This is a single center, prospective, open-label, randomized trial at the University of Minnesota Medical Center,Fairview. Primary objectives are to determine if rejection episodes and loss rates, graft survival, level of renal graft function, and patient survival rates with a Campath/MMF-based (Group 1) immunosuppressive protocol are lower than, or equal to, our protocol using thymoglobulin, tacrolimus, and MMF (Group 2). This study will investigate the first protocol that is both steroid-free and calcineurin inhibitor-free in pancreas after kidney transplant recipients.

The Relationship Between Voiding Dysfunction and Intravesical Sensory Threshold in Diabetes Women

The investigators will recruit a cross-sectional group of diabetic women in internist clinics. UDS will be applied for voiding function in each case. Intravesical electrical stimulation will be used to test CPT per 5 Hz, 250 Hz, 2000 Hz for the patients. The differences of intravesical CPT between diabetic women with and without voiding dysfunction will be determined.

Efficacy and Safety of Inhaled Insulin Compared With Subcutaneous Human Insulin Therapy in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes

This study is being done to find out the good and bad effects of a drug that is not approved for sale and the effects if any on measures of pulmonary function in adult males and females with type 1 diabetes mellitus. The drug is called EXUBERA (inhaled insulin). This study included a 2-year comparative treatment period followed by a 6-month follow-up period during which inhaled insulin-treated subjects were switched back to subcutaneous short-acting insulin. After this follow-up period, all eligible subjects entered a comparative extension period that was to last for 5 years. When the comparative portion of the study was terminated, all subjects were requested to return for a final extension follow-up month 3 visit.
