Filter by:This study evaluated the periodontal condition of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) patients and a healthy non-pregnant control group. For the GDM group all medical data were recorded, including obesity/insulin resistance indicators.
This will be a randomized, cross-over design. Subjects will be randomized to one of two interventions on two separate study days, 1 week apart.
On the first of July 2016, the Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitor (FGM) will be reimbursed in Belgium by means of a new diabetes reimbursement program for adults. For children, the Freestyle Libre FGM is also reimbursed by means of a new reimbursement program from the first of August 2016 onwards. Making this the only way to receive the device in Belgium. To understand the impact of this new FGM on diabetes patients in UZ Leuven, OLVZ Aalst, and UZ Antwerp, we want to study the use of the device by our patients by means of an observational study where patients complete questionnaires at regular time points in the first year of usage and after 24 months Clinical data will be gathered during the routine clinical visits as part of the reimbursement program.
Potentially Avoidable Hospitalizations (Pah) Are Studied As An Indirect Measure Of Access To Primary Care And Of The Interface Between Primary And Secondary Care. A Previous Work Unveils Considerable Geographic Variation In The Rate Of Pah In France And Suggest That Primary Care Organization Might Play A Role In This Variation. However, A Limitation Of This Work Lies In The Lack Of Data On Actual Primary Care Utilization. The Aim Of This Study Is To Analyze The Role Of Primary Care In The Variation Of Potentially Avoidable Hospitalizations At the Zip Code Level, In The French Region Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées. The investigator will implement An Ecological Approach In Which The Geographic Variation In The Rate Of Pah Is Analyzed In The French Region Lrmp, Year 2014. Age- And Sex-Adjusted Rate Of Pah By Zip Codes (N=612) Is Modeled Using A Spatial Regression Model.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of linagliptin compared to placebo when added on to insulin therapy alone or in combination with metformin in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with insufficient glycaemic control
The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the percentage of calories from dairy intake and long-term glycemic control and weight maintenance in patients with type 2 diabetes who participate in an intensive lifestyle intervention program. The investigators hypothesize that overweight and obese patients with type 2 diabetes who consume higher percentage of calories from dairy products during intensive lifestyle intervention programs have better glycemic control and maintenance of weight loss as compared to those who consume lower percentage of calories from dairy products.
This study will assess the ability of different orthotic insole treatments to reduce pressure under the ball of the foot. This is important for people who have diabetes because their feet are at higher risk of foot problems in this area. This study will involve the participants wearing a a range of insoles produced by milling, handmade processes and additive manufacture along with normal orthotic footwear. A researcher will measure the pressures under the feet while the participants walk wearing the orthotic insoles.
This feasibility study aims to compare the implementation process of three different interventions that use economic incentives to promote lifestyle behavioral changes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to identify barriers and facilitators linked to the process of implementing each of the interventions. The interventions are based on economic incentives directed to the patient (individual incentives) or a team comprised by the patient and a partner (mixed incentives). Design: Three-month randomized control feasibility study to test the feasibility of implementing three types of intervention with economic incentives in patients with diabetes mellitus. Setting: Diabetes outpatient clinics from a public hospital in Peru.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of empagliflozin on oxidative stress in patients with type 2 diabetes. The association is examined by comparing the difference in oxidative modifications before and after 14 days treatment with 25 mg empagliflozin compared to placebo treatment. The study is randomised, double-blinded, and placebo controlled. Each treatment group consists of 17 males with type 2 diabetes. Oxidative modifications are measured by urinary excretion of 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine and 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanosine. A student t-test will be performed to compare the drug treatment with placebo. The results will be published in a peer-review journal.
This is a 16 subject trial to demonstrate the safety of allogeneic hMSCs administered via infusion therapy for diabetic subjects with endothelial dysfunction.
