Fresh Takes!: An Evaluation of the Impact of Receiving Fresh Food Boxes

Fresh Takes! is a targeted food distribution and nutrition education program offered by Montefiore Bronx Health Collective, a Federally Qualified Health Center located in the South Bronx. The goal of Fresh Takes! is to help reduce food insecurity and prevent progressions to overt diabetes in patients with prediabetes and to help patients with overt diabetes achieve better diabetic control. To that end, participants receive bimonthly fresh food boxes and nutritional support and education over the course of a six-month program.

Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has evolved from a glucocentric to a cardiometabolic approach. Both glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) reduce cardiovascular and kidney outcomes in T2DM patients with a low hypoglycemia risk. The T2DM di per se still carries a higher risk of mortality and major cardiovascular complications, doubling the case fatality rate. Tacking that GLP-1RAs and SGLT2is have different mechanisms of action, resulting in complementary pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, the combination use may present clinical efficacy and safety in T2DM patients with AMI. However, there is limited clinical evidence that supports the combined use of these drugs, and there are currently no studies investigating the effects of combination treatment in T2DM patients with acute cardiovascular events, on MACE as well as on myocardial post-infarction rescue. Therefore, authors will conduct an observational prospective study to evaluate the effects GLP-1RAs and SGLT2is combination therapy on MACE such as mortality, acute coronary syndrome and heart failure, and myocardial salvage index (MSI) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in T2DM patients.

The purpose of this study is to improve diabetes management for patients at Midtown General Internal Medicine Clinic (Aim 1). The clinic offers dedicated diabetes care on certain days with trained providers able to offer dedicated diabetes care. The clinic will also make sure to address other aspects of life and health that may impact an individual's ability to manage their diabetes - food insecurity, housing insecurity, knowing about healthy food, finding ways to exercise, and mental health. The study will also train the medical residents to be able to participate in this dedicated diabetes care (Aim 2).

Trajectories of Fatigue and Quality of Life in People With Both Operable Pancreatic Tumor and Diabetes Mellitus

In people with both burdens of OPT and DM, fatigue is the most common and deliberating symptom that likely impacts their quality of life and diabetes self-management. However, little is known about the longitudinal relationships among fatigue, its influencing factors, glycemic status, diabetes self-management, and quality of life in people with both OPT and DM during the first-year post-operation. Thus, the purposes of this study are to (1) describe the trajectories of fatigue, HbA1c, diabetes self-management, and quality of life in people with OPT and DM within 12 months post-operation; (2) examine the relationships among the trajectories of fatigue, its influencing factors, diabetes self-management, and quality of life in people with OPT and DM; and (3) understand the experiences of people with both OPT and DM regarding changes in challenges with diabetes, fatigue, diabetes self-management, diabetes care needs, and quality of life.

Nitazoxanide as Adjuvant Therapy in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a complex metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia and abnormalities in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. Despite the advancement in anti-diabetic drug therapy, most patients fail to achieve optimal glycemic control. This highlights the need for more effective strategies to control type 2 diabetes mellitus. Nitazoxanide (NTZ), a broad-spectrum anti-infective drug with activity against various protozoa, helminthes, bacteria, and viruses, was identified as peroxisome proliferative activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) agonist using one dimensional drug profile matching. Additionally, it improved insulin sensitivity in insulin-resistant type 2 diabetic rats. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate the efficacy of nitazoxanide as adjunctive therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Effects of Remimazolam and Propofol on Anesthesia Induction

The patients with diabetes who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the general surgery department of the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University were selected. The patients who were induced by remimazolam were included in the experimental group, and the patients who were induced by propofol were included in the control group. All the selected patients had no intimate relationship. The differences of blood pressure, heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) between the experimental group and the control group were observed. According to the literature, it is speculated that the changes of blood pressure, heart rate and HRV indexes in the experimental group are smaller than those in the control group, and the difference is statistically significant.

The goal of this interventional Randomized clinical is to compare the effect of colostrum pharmaceutical preparation and placebo in a sample of Iraqi participants. The main questions to answer are: 1. What are the effects of the tested regimens on the level of IL-1 and IL-15. 2. What are the effects of the tested regimens on the Fasting Blood glucose? 3. What are the effects of the tested regimens on the HbA1C? 4. What are the effects of the tested regimens on the Body Mass Index? 5. What are the effects of the tested regimens on the Lipid profile? 6. What are the effects of the tested regimens on C-reactive protein? 7. What are the effects of the tested regimens on Hematological indices? 8. What are the effects of the tested regimens on Rate pressure product? Participants will be separated into four groups: 1. Group 1 (Healthy control): 24 Patients, will be receiving Placebo Capsule per oral once daily for 60 days 2. Group 2 (Healthy control) : 26 Patients, will be receiving Colostrum Capsule 500 mg per oral once daily for 60 days. 3. Group 3 (Diabetes Type 2): 23 Patieints, will be receiving Placebo Capsule per oral once daily for 60 days. 4. Group 4 (Diabetes Type 2) : 27 Patients, will be receiving Colostrum Capsule 500 mg per oral once daily for 60 days. Researchers will compare Groups 1,2,3, and 4 to observe the effect of the tested treatment regimens on IL-1, IL-6 ,Fasting Blood Glucose, HbA1c, Body Mass Index, Lipid profile, Rate pressure product, C-reactive protein, and Hematological indices. and use these measures In special formulas to determine the effect of the tested regimens on physical performance and cognitive function.
