Possible symptoms of COVID19 are asked for and use of healthcare services and testing for COVID19. Weekly reports are being send to the national institutions to update advice given to this group.
The situation of COVID-19 pandemic creates many challenges for cancer patients and caregivers. Some modifications in cancer management have been evolved from cancer societies and organizations to support oncology professionals as much as possible to deliver optimal care to their cancer patients in such exceptional circumstances, and to protect patients from infection with COVID-19 as much as possible.
Background: Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Purpose: To give initial experience about COVID-19 in Alexandria-Egypt describing radiological patterns of lung involvement, also surveying prevalence of co-morbid lung diseases and their effect on COVID-19 presentation. Methods: Retrospective study including 48 patients with positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19 during the period from February 2020 till May 2020 in Alexandria/Egypt. Full clinical and laboratory data are obtained. High resolution computed tomography (HRCT) findings are described. Serial follow up studies are done. Surveying co-morbid lung diseases done including tuberculosis (TB), interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), immune and vascular-related diseases. Prevalence rate is the predominant analysis.
The study will prospectively collect data from patients with Covid-19 admitted to the Västerås Intensive Care Unit, Västerås Hospital. Demographic, clinical, radiographic and laboratory characteristics will be recorded. Analysis of data to identify predictors of disease severity, mortality and treatment response.
The study is a prospective, randomized, controlled investigation designed for comparison of two groups for the reduction of respiratory distress in a CoViD-19 population, using gammaCore Sapphire (nVNS) plus standard of care (active) vs. standard of care alone (SoC), the control group. The gammaCore® (nVNS) treatments will be used acutely and prophylactically. The aims of this study are to summarize and compare the incidence of clinical events and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in patients randomized to use of gammaCore Sapphire plus standard of care vs standard of care alone in patients hospitalized for CoViD-19. Secondary objectives are demonstrate the safety of gammaCore Sapphire use in patients hospitalized for CoViD-19.
Muscle wasting occurred early and rapidly in critically ill patients. Early therapeutic strategies to either maintain muscle structure and function should be encouraged. Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is an attractive intervention to maintain muscle mass and strength in critically ill patients during the first week of ICU stay. This study will test the hypothesis that the number of contraction per day evoked by NMES in the first two weeks of illness may influence in muscle wasting, with beneficial effects on the physical and functional status in mechanically ventilated patients.
Prospective, observational, multicenter study aiming to evaluate the number of COVID-19 pneumonia related patients treated with non-invasive ventilatory support outside the intensive care unit. In addition, the study aims to obtain information related to the clinical characteristics and hospital results of these patients.
The impact of the current Covid-19 pandemic on healthcare workers is enormous. This longitudinal study investigates the prevalence of mental health problems and the quality of life of healthcare workers during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. Underlying risk factors are also examined. Health care workers of the different Covid-19 cohort and transit wards, as well as the intensive care unit and (psychiatric) emergency services of the Ghent university hospital will be included, as well as the health care workers of 6 non-Covid-19 wards.

International guidelines suggest the administration of empirical broad-spectrum antibiotics for suspected bacterial co-infection in COVID-19 critically ill. However, data on associated respiratory infections is rare and antimicrobial stewardship interventions promoting antibiotic savings are non-existent in this context.
