Safety and Effectiveness of NRP for DCD Heart Transplantation

This is a prospective, observational, pilot trial to evaluate the feasibility of heart transplantation using normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) donation after donor circulatory death (DCD). Normothermic regional perfusion utilizes Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) or cardiopulmonary bypass to reperfuse the heart and other organs in situ after isolation and ligation of the cerebral vessels. In situ resuscitation of the heart has the added advantage of allowing full hemodynamic and echocardiographic assessment of the donor heart prior to final acceptance for transplantation without the imminent danger of ongoing warm ischemia.

Evaluation of the Accuracy and Usability of the ACR | U.S. Urine Analysis Test System in the Lay User Hands

Eligible subjects meeting the pathological profile will be recruited at the designated site by the study personnel. Following subject consent, the subjects will be evaluated for eligibility based on their health condition and history. The ACR | U.S. kit, in its original packaging, along with the ACR | U.S. smartphone application will be provided to the subject in a simulated home- use environment. All subjects will be provided with a list of tasks to complete, including providing a urine sample and operating the ACR | U.S. device on 2 mobile phones. After completing the test, the lay user will complete a post-test questionnaire. The study observer will also complete a questionnaire to collect information regarding the lay users' use of the ACR | U.S. The device use will be compared with identified risks to determine if the percentage of failures is acceptable. Additionally, measurable usability criteria for specific, critical steps will be evaluated. Following the usability test performed by the lay user, the subjects' urine samples will be tested by the study staff using the comparator device. These results will be considered as the "true value".

The purpose of this study is to investigate areas of the brain responsible for appetite regulation. More specifically, the investigators would like to study changes in brain activation, e.g., changes in blood flow and oxygen use of the brain, during two different states: Once when the participants are hungry, and once when the participants are not hungry. The aim is to find out more about the neurobiology of Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa by comparing women who never had an eating disorder with women who have recovered from Anorexia or Bulimia Nervosa.

Selah Trial of Stress Interventions for Clergy: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Daily Examen, and Stress Inoculation

Certain populations may be particularly susceptible to the adverse effects of chronic stress, particularly chronic work-related stress. One such population is that of clergy doing ministry work. Clergy who are interested in stress reduction will choose one of three interventions: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, the Daily Examen, or a set of stress inoculation and breathing exercises called Stress Proofing. The study investigators will examine changes in heart rate variability and self-reported stress symptoms over time among clergy who have participated in one of the three interventions, compared to clergy who have not yet received one of the interventions. The aim of this study is to determine trends in stress outcomes for each of the three interventions. The investigators hypothesize that participation in each intervention will be associated with an improvement in stress outcomes compared to those who have not yet received an intervention.

OsciPulse Device for the Prevention of VTE

This is a Phase 2 safety and tolerability trial that will take place in two parts. Part one of the trial will determine the tolerability of the OsciPulse device on healthy subjects who wear the device for up to three hours. Healthy volunteers will answer questionnaires and may undergo an ultrasound test at the end of their participation in the trial. Part two of the trial will determine the safety and tolerability of the OsciPulse device on subjects admitted to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Eligible subjects will be enrolled for 6 hours. In the first 3 hours, subjects will wear the standard of care intermittent pneumatic compression device or the OsciPulse device. In the second 3 hours, the subject's device will be switched and subjects will wear the alternate device not used in the first 3 hours. Subjects will answer questionnaires and may undergo an ultrasound at the end of the first 3 hours and at the end of the second 3 hours (at hour 6).
