Ibrutinib as Early Therapy in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

The standard approach to managing chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic leukemia (SLL) is to wait until you have symptoms before treatment is given. The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if providing earlier treatment for CLL or SLL with ibrutinib in patients who do not have symptoms will be more effective than waiting until symptoms develop. This is an investigational study. Ibrutinib is FDA approved and commercially available for the treatment of patients with CLL or SLL. It is considered investigational to give ibrutinib to CLL and SLL patients before symptoms develop. The study doctor can describe how the study drug is designed to work. Up to 50 participants will be enrolled in this study. All will take part at MD Anderson.

This randomized phase II trial studies how well carboplatin with or without atezolizumab works in treating patients with stage IV triple negative breast cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving carboplatin with atezolizumab may work better in treating patients with stage IV triple negative breast cancer

Atezolizumab, Guadecitabine, and CDX-1401 Vaccine in Treating Patients With Recurrent Ovarian, Fallopian Tube, or Primary Peritoneal Cancer

This randomized phase I/IIb trial studies side effects and best dose of atezolizumab when given together with guadecitabine and CDX-1401 vaccine and to see how well they work in treating patients with ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer that has come back. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. CDX-1401 vaccine may enhance the expression of the genes encoding tumor antigens on the surface of tumor cells and enhance the activity of tumor-killing T cells against those tumor cells. Vaccines made from monoclonal antibodies combined with tumor cells may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. Giving atezolizumab, guadecitabine, and CDX-1401 vaccine may work better than CDX-1401 alone in treating patients with ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate if systematic cognitive training can improve cognitive performance in participants (55 and older) with memory loss. This study will evaluate the effects of Computerized Cognitive Training (CCT) for improvement in everyday cognitive and function status, in addition to long-term changes in brain networks over an 18-month period. Although there is no distribution of medication for this study, participants are required to have an at-home computer.

This is a strategic prospective cohort study which will measure the effects of early intensive antiretroviral therapy (ART) on the establishment and persistence of HIV-1 reservoirs and HIV-1-specific immunity in acutely /recently HIV infected youth aged 12 to 24 years as compared to newly diagnosed youth with established infection > 6 months. Participants with newly diagnosed acute /recent HIV-1 infection will be offered enrollment into the study with immediate initiation of ART which is the current standard of care.

It may also improve care for adolescent and young adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
