Study to See How Safe Curcumin is and How Well it Works When Used to Treat Mucositis in Patients Getting Chemotherapy

Oral mucositis is a common side effect from cancer treatment. Patients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy can get very painful sores in their mouth that compromise nutrition and oral hygiene as well as increase risk for infection, and can last for weeks. Currently, the only treatment for mucositis is oral hygiene to try to support recovery. Curcumin (also known as Turmeric) is a frequently-used spice in India and Southeast Asia. Studies in cells and animals have shown that it can reduce the amount of bacteria and can prevent inflammation. In this study, the investigators want to learn if a mouthwash made with curcumin is safe for people to use and if it can help their mucositis.

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of oral eleclazine on mean daytime QTcF interval after 24 weeks of treatment with elecalzine in participants with long QT syndrome Type 3. During the single-blind treatment period (24 weeks), participants will receive eleclazine and/or eleclazine placebo. Following the single-blind treatment period, participants who have not permanently discontinued study drug will be eligible, at the discretion of the investigator, to continue receiving eleclazine during an open-label extension (OLE) phase.

Efficacy of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Neonates With Hypoglycemia

Our aim is to determine the feasibility of using continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) in infants with low blood glucose to improve how we care for these infants. To do this we plan on monitoring blood glucose levels with CGMs (instead of only with intermittent bloodsampling) in late-preterm and term infants admitted to the NICU who have had hypoglycemia. To see if using CGMs helps us prevent low blood glucose levels and allows us to find a diagnosis and treat sooner, we will randomize patients into one of two groups: a "CGM group" where the CGM information is made available to the NICU team and a "Standard of Care" group where the CGM information will only be available to the research team. However, if infants in the "Standard of Care" group are noted to have three unrecognized severe low blood glucose levels then the research team will inform the NICU team that this has occurred.

CeraVe Cream Compared to Desitin Paste for Treating Diaper Dermatitis in Infants

This is a single-center, 1:1 randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, non-inferiority controlled trial to demonstrate non-inferiority of CeraVe Baby Diaper Rash Cream compared to Desitin Maximum Strength Original Paste when administered to children with diaper dermatitis who are between 3 months to 18 months of age. Parents/caregivers of subjects in both groups will administer the product with each diaper change throughout the course of the study period. Product can be applied liberally as needed. Diapers and skin cleansing interventions will stay constant throughout the treatment period. Subjects will be assessed by the study doctor, parent/caregiver will be asked about any adverse effects. Parent/caregivers will also be asked to complete a daily diary that asks about changes in their baby's diaper dermatitis, a Visual Analogue Scale severity assessment of their baby's diaper dermatitis, and observations related to product use and the baby's comfort level. Parents/caregivers will also be given a questionnaire rating the use of the study products.

This study will evaluate the safety and tolerability of epacadostat (INCB024360) administered in combination with atezolizumab (MPDL3280A) in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that have been previously treated with platinum-based chemotherapy and Stage IV urothelial carcinoma who have failed a platinum-based chemotherapy regimen. The study will be conducted in two phases. The dose escalation phase will utilize a 3 + 3 design to identify the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) or a Pharmacologically Active Dose (PAD) of the combination. This will be followed by a dose expansion phase, which will be comprised of three cohorts. Expansion Cohorts 1 & 2 will further evaluate the safety, tolerability, efficacy, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics at the dose identified in phase one. Expansion Cohort 3 will evaluate the change in biomarker expression following treatment with epacadostat as monotherapy followed by epacadostat and atezolizumab administered in combination.

Pharmacokinetics of Intranasal Ketorolac in Children

Ketorolac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is typically given to both adults and children by the intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) route for analgesic purposes. Ketorolac can also be given by the intranasal (IN) route using a mucosal atomization device (MAD). We aim to study the pharmacokinetics of ketorolac when administered by the IN route using the MAD.

Routine Post-Operative Supplemental Nutrition

Patients undergoing an esophagectomy will be randomized to receive either (1) routine post-operative tube feeding for 1 month post-operative or (2) usual practice, which is tube feeding to continue in the hospital until the patient is taking adequate nutrition by mouth at POD#8, or upon discharge. Specific Aim 1 is to determine the occurrence of common complications and readmissions post-operatively between the two patient groups. The investigators hypothesize that routine use of tube feeding may reduce the occurrence of post-operative complications. Specific Aim 2 is to determine if routine dietary supplementation with enteral tube affects recovery and QOL after esophagectomy. The investigators hypothesize that routine post-operative supplementation will enhance patients recovery and QOL. For esophagectomy specifically, there is very limited literature evaluating the complication rate and QOL associated with the length of post-operative tube feeding and adequate nutritional requirements. Small randomized studies have not shown a benefit to routine tube feeding, although the numbers were very small, ranging from 12-70 per group. The investigators will randomize 200 patients for the purpose of this study.

Locally Advanced Breast Cancer: Individualized Treatment Based On Tumor Molecular Characteristics

Paclitaxel 30 mg/m2 twice/week Trastuzumab 4mg/kg, loading dose, then 2 mg/kg weekly and Concurrent RT (to start within one week from first dose of Paclitaxel/Trastuzumab) to breast, supraclavicular, axillary fields, 45 Gy @ 1.8 Gy/fraction, + 14 Gy @ 2 Gy/fraction to the primary tumor. At the end of chemo-radiation, Trastuzumab will be continued weekly until surgery and as per standard of care after surgery for up to 1 year total. **Surgery: Patients will undergo lumpectomy and axillary node dissection or modified radical mastectomy within two months following discontinuation of pre-operative systemic therapy, contingent upon recovery of skin toxicity. Pathologic response will be evaluated at the time of surgery. Additional tissue samples will be collected from the surgical specimen for assessment of tumor molecular characteristics. ***All patients may undergo four cycles of post-operative Standard AC (doxorubicin 60 mg/m2, cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m2) or four cycles of post-operative epirubicin and Cyclophosphamide (epirubicin 100 mg/m2, cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m2) if doxorubicin is not available Tamoxifen as well or any alternative antihormonal therapy may be prescribed for five years for patients with hormone receptor positive tumors. Herceptin (Trastuzumab) will be prescribed for a total of 1 year since first dose as per standard of care.
