A Trial to Evaluate Negative Pressure Incision Management System for Groin Wounds in Vascular Surgery Patients

The purpose of this research study is to investigate if a new negative pressure incision (surgical cut) management system, could reduce the occurrence of groin wound infections after vascular surgery. This is a single use, sterile dressing that is applied to the patient's skin. It has an attached battery-powered unit that provides negative pressure (a vacuum environment) to the dressing and a disposable canister for the collection of wound fluids. The patient is being asked to participate in this study because the patient is planning to have a vascular surgery procedure that involves groin incision.

A Study of Disease Progression in Participants With Geographic Atrophy Secondary to Age-Related Macular Degeneration

This study seeks to better characterize relationships between visual function and the progression (worsening) of geographic atrophy (GA) due to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The study also will generate new information on the relationship between genetics and GA progression. This is a global, prospective, multicenter, epidemiologic study enrolling 200 participants with GA secondary to AMD. The study visits are scheduled to occur every 6 months. The anticipated duration of the study is up to 60 months.

Safety Tolerability and Efficacy of Intravitreal LMG324 in the Treatment of Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration

The purpose of this first-in-human study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of single ascending doses of LMG324 to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nvAMD) subjects. Enrollment will be expanded at a safe and tolerated dose in treatment naïve nvAMD subjects to compare a single intravitreal (IVT) dose of LMG324 to ranibizumab 0.5 mg administered every 4 weeks for change from baseline in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at Week 12 (Day 85).

The investigators are studying the utility of intra-operative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) during transsphenoidal pituitary surgery for large macroadenomas by randomizing patients to either an intra-operative MRI after resection, or no intra-operative MRI. The investigators will then count the number of gross total resection in each group of patients and also the complications related to surgery.

TECR & ECM Placement for Esophageal High Grade Dysplasia

This study will test the safety and effectiveness of esophageal transoral endoscopic circumferential resection (TECR) using an extracellular matrix (ECM) placement to treat Barrett's esophagus in patients with high-grade dysplasia (HGD). Endoscopic circumferential resection using ECM placement has been introduced as a less invasive, externally incision-less approach to treat patients with esophageal high grade dysplasia; a pre-cancerous condition. In this procedure, the entire length of diseased (abnormal) mucosa (esophagus lining) will be removed using an endoscope that will be inserted through the mouth. The ECM will be placed over the area that is being removed with a temporary, expandable stent to prevent narrowing of the esophagus. The stent is being used to hold the ECM in place as the body begins the healing process. This stent will be removed 14 days (±4 days) after this procedure. Follow-up esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD), barium swallow x-ray tests, and questionnaires will take place for 12 months following the procedure. The result of this study may help doctors determine if this procedure would be a more effective treatment option for HGD in the future.

The purpose of this study is to determine if the addition of antiplatelet therapy (i.e. aspirin) to low-molecular-weight-heparin (i.e. enoxaparin) will decrease the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in high-risk critically injured patients. The investigators further aim to determine the safety and efficacy of dual thromboprophylaxis with aspirin and enoxaparin for decreasing the incidence of VTE after trauma.
