Forebrain Electroneutral Transporters in Salt-sensitive Hypertension: an MRI Study

The overall objective of this project is to identify the key salt-sensing regions of the brain and determine the underlying mechanism of sodium sensing. The investigators will assess how the brain responds to an acute increase of salt in the blood using MRI. This will be done during a 30-minute infusion of a saline solution containing 3% salt. One trial will be conducted with a salt sensing channel blocker and one trial without the salt sensing channel blocker. This will help to assess the role of a specific salt sensing channel in the brain. Salt sensitivity of BP will be assessed using 7-day dietary feeding where participants will be given food to consume for 7-days. Comparisons will be made between salt resistant (no change in blood pressure going from low to high salt diets) and salt sensitive adults (a change in blood pressure going from low to high salt diets). The investigators think the changes in MRI will be greater in salt sensitive compared to salt resistant subjects.

An ACT Website for College Students With Insomnia

College students experience higher rates of insomnia compared the general population, and accessibility and availability for the appropriate intervention is difficult due limited resources available to them in a college environment. Theorefore, it is vital to offer an intervention that can be just as effective yet more accessible than other available treatments targeting insomnia. That is why this study will investigate the efficacy and feasibility of an online ACT intervention for insomnia among college students. Specifically, Is an online ACT for college students effective in treating insomnia? And, is an online ACT for college students feasible and acceptable in treating insomnia? Participants will be randomized into one of two conditions: waitlist or online ACT guide. Participants will receive questionnaires at baseline, post-treatment (4 weeks), and 1-month follow up.

The objective of this study is to assess the acceptability and feasibility of Altitudes, a novel digital behavioral health and psychoeducational intervention for caregivers and supporters of individuals experiencing first episode psychosis. The investigators will evaluate acceptability and feasibility with up to 30 caregivers and supporters over the course of 6 months. Acceptability and usability will be assessed with various acceptability measures with the Altitudes caregivers and supporters, caregivers and supporters' engagement with the digital platform, and qualitative interviews with the Altitudes caregivers and supporters. The investigators will additional evaluate the impact of the platform on caregiver and supporter's psychological status, wellbeing, and social support, as measured via self-report questionnaires.
