Brigatinib and Bevacizumab for the Treatment of ALK-Rearranged Locally Advanced, Metastatic, or Recurrent NSCLC

This phase Ib trial studies the side effects and best dose of brigatinib and how well it works with bevacizumab in treating patients with ALK-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to nearby tissues or lymph nodes (locally advanced) or other places in the body (metastatic) or has come back (recurrent). Brigatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. It is not yet known if brigatinib and bevacizumab will work better in treating patients with ALK-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer.

Nutritional Stimulation of Growth in Children With Short Stature

Short stature is a frequent reason for referral to a pediatric endocrinology clinic. Short stature is especially prevalent among those with failure to thrive (whose weight is significantly below the average weight of his/her peers). The growth hormone has limited efficacy for medical treatment of short stature when the cause of short stature is not growth hormone deficiency. This study will investigate the effect of 6 months of nutritional supplement (essential amino acids) compared to placebo in the linear growth of short children who have not yet reached puberty.

This research project is a small-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) of an innovative program based in New York City called Room to Grow (RtG). Room to Grow's mission is to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. The research-informed program model combines tailored, one-on-one sessions with an expert clinical social worker in-person every three months plus ongoing communication (via phone and email), provision of essential baby items, and connections to vital community resources. The goal of Room to Grow's innovative program is to help parents increase the probability that their children will enter school ready to learn and continue on to meet their full potential in education, work, and citizenship. The therapeutic, psychodynamic approach and robust three-year long relationship with families is designed to act as the catalyst for sustainable, long-term change in parenting methods and family system stability. Critically, and in contrast to other programs aimed at improving parenting and child development, Room to Grow believes that providing concrete material assistance enhances the effectiveness of counseling and referrals to low-income families by reducing economic stress and freeing up scarce resources.

This is a randomized, open-label, controlled clinical trial designed to compare clinical outcomes after kidney transplantation using extended-release tacrolimus (Envarsus XR) versus immediate tacrolimus among highly-sensitized kidney transplant recipients. Outcomes to be assessed include the incidence of biopsy-proven acute rejection at 12 months, the presence of de novo and pre-existing donor-specific HLA antibodies, estimated glomerular filtration rate, and the level of donor-derived cell-free DNA.

This is a study designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of New Molecular Entity (NME) combination therapies in Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) participants with preserved liver function and without significant fibrosis/cirrhosis. The platform design allows comparison of multiple NME combination therapies against a common control, and introduction of additional treatment arms at later study time points. Each arm will consist of a screening phase (up to 8 weeks), treatment phase (up to 48 weeks) and post-treatment follow-up phase (48 weeks). The safety and efficacy will be monitored throughout the study.
