Substudy A: This is a Phase 1 randomized, open-label study to describe the safety and immunogenicity of up to 3 dose- level combinations of modRNA quadrivalent influenza vaccine (qIRV (22/23)) and bivalent BNT162b2 (original/Omi BA.4/BA.5). Participants will receive either: - qIRV (22/23)/bivalent BNT162b2 (original/Omi BA.4/BA.5), at 1 of the 3 dose-level combinations - qIRV (22/23) at dose level 1, - qIRV (22/23) at dose level 2, or - bivalent BNT162b2 (original/Omi BA.4/BA.5) at dose level 1 administered concurrently in the opposite arm to commercially licensed quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIV). Substudy B: This Phase 1/2 study will describe the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of quadrivalent influenza vaccine (qIRV)/bivalent BNT162b2 (original/Omi BA.4/BA.5), trivalent influenza vaccine (tIRV)/bivalent BNT162b2 (original/Omi BA.4/BA.5), and bivalent influenza vaccine (bIRV)/bivalent BNT162b2 (original/Omi BA.4/BA.5) when given concurrently with licensed quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIV).
This study is the human clinical trial component of an SBIR grant with Sinnovatek (funded). Cyclists (n=20) will consume a blueberry-protein, blueberry, or placebo supplement for 2 weeks prior to cycling for 2.5 h at high intensity. Washout periods (2 weeks) will separate the 3 trials, and the cyclists will crossover (randomized) to one of the two others supplements for 2 weeks, and then engage in additional 2.5 h cycling bouts. Blood and urine samples will be collected pre- and post-supplementation for each of the 3 trials. Blood samples will also be collected immediately after and 1.5h- and 24h-post-exercise. Blood samples will be analyzed for inflammation and oxidative stress outcomes. Urine samples will be analyzed for blueberry gut-derived phenolics.
The primary objective of this study is to investigate the effect of an oral probiotic (Bacillus sp. spore preparation) on abdominal bloating, flatulence, and burping in generally healthy adults. Secondary outcomes include intestinal barrier integrity and fecal microbiome properties (taxonomical structure, diversity, and function).
Remote postpartum blood pressure monitoring program with text messages has been shown to increase adherence to recommended postpartum blood pressure checks among those with hypertension at discharge from birth hospitalization, but these programs require medically trained professionals to respond to each individual text message. A bluetooth-enabled blood pressure cuff that synchs automatically a smartphone application that leverages Artificial Intelligence to provide tailored recommendations based on recorded blood pressure measurements--and can also provide on-demand education on hypertension--may be less costly way to provide similar support.
The current study seeks to understand factors that influence college students' likelihood of participating the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)/Be the Match for bone marrow and stem cell donations. The secondary aim is to compare emotional and rational approaches to encouraging participation in the registry and how these approaches may impact intentions to participate in the NMDP.
