There are about 15072 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Turkey. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
There are very few studies indicating the effect of acute phase treatment approaches on creatine kinase and the musculoskeletal system in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation process. Rehabilitation in burn patients is a benchmark due to return to pre-burn life. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of acute phase treatment approaches on creatine kinase and the musculoskeletal system in different types of burns.
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common of all entrapment syndromes with a prevalence of 1-5%. Electrodiagnostic testing is used to make a definite diagnosis. The mainstay of the pathophysiology of CTS includes mechanical damage to the median nerve due to build up of pressure in the carpal tunnel and nerve ischaemia. Physical therapy (PT) in particular is the conventional non-surgical treatment of choice in the management of mild to moderate CTS, resulting in pain reduction and improved function. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a non invasive treatment method in which high frequency sound waves are applied to the body. The mechanism of action of ESWT in the treatment of CTS remains largely unknown. Eventhough there are many therapeutic options in the treatment of mild to moderate CTS, there is no consensus on the most effective treatment (4). ESWT has become a desirable treatment option in recent years. However, due to small patients numbers in trials to date and a lack of placebo controlled studies, the efficacy of this treatment option is still under debate. This study aims to compare the efficacy of RESWT to the recommended conventional PT modalities, including therapeutic US, in the treatment of CTS with regards to nociceptive and neuropathic pain, functionality and nerve conduction study outcomes.
Background: Glycemic control can be difficult in the elderly with diabetes.Diabetic foot problems characterized by vascular and neuropathy are serious complications. The effectiveness of reflexology has been demonstrated to achieve glycemic control and manage diabetic foot problems. Objectives: To determine the effect of foot reflexology on ankle brachial index (ABI), diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and glycemic control in elderly diabetic individuals. Design: A randomized clinical trial. Settings: An outpatient elderly health center in Turkey. Participants: 48 individuals aged 65 and over enrolled in the elderly health center were included. Methods: The elderly were randomized into two groups (study, n=24; control,n=24). Foot reflexology was performed for 12 week in the study group, whereas the control group continued their routine treatment and follow-up. Both groups underwent a comprehensive foot examination for evaluating ABI and DPN at baseline and after 12 weeks; furthermore, glycemic control (glycated hemoglobin-HbA1c) was evaluated. An independent two-sample t-test was performed for pre- and post-test between-group comparisons; an effect size analysis was performed to determine the effect of intervention.
Comparing the pre and post-operative blood plasma levels of vitamin C according to oxidative stress and investigate the correlation between post-operative analgesia requirement and vitamin C levels following orthognathic surgery.
According to various studies Covid 19 pneumonia has a very similar clinical course to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) which has clarified by Berlin definition. Based on this similarity, extracellular fluid of lungs and diffuse alveolar damage should be observed in covid 19 pneumonia as well. Extracellular water (ECW) can be determine by using whole body bioimpedence system (NİCaS). The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of ECW on the clinical apperence of covid 19 pneumonia clinical course.
Sjogren's syndrome (SS) is a chronic, systemic, autoimmune disease characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of all exocrine glands, especially tear and salivary glands, and is more common in women.
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of nursing care provided based on the Watson's Theory of Human Caring to the relatives of palliative care patients on caregivers' spiritual well-being and hope. This research was conducted with 60 patient relatives (intervention group: 30, control group: 30) taking care of their patient in palliative care unit.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the rate of iatrogenic pneumothorax and the need for intervention with extrapleural autologous blood injection (EPABI) along with intraparenchymal autologous blood patch injection (IABPI) or IABPI-alone in CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy.
BACKGROUND: In ice hockey, skating is a combination of speed, power, and balance. OBJECTIVE:The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between previous injury history and on-ice and off-ice performance of elite male ice hockey players. METHODS: This study was designed as prospective cross-sectional study. Fifty elite men's ice hokey players included (n=50, mean age 23y 8mo, SD 5y 3mo). Off-ice performance measures were 30 m Sprint Test, Broad Jump Test, Push-up Test, Hexagon Agility Test, Plank Test. The 2 on-ice tests were 30m On-ice Sprint Test and Cornering "S" Turn Agility Test. The athletes' history of injury were including previous injury site, type, number and the mechanism of injury. RESULTS: In push up test, there was a significant difference in those who had left hand and right knee injuries and, athletes who had dislocation were found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). According to cornering s turn agility test results, athletes who had puck injury were found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). In 30m sprint and hexagon agility test results, athletes who had overuse injury were found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). There was a significant correlation between on-ice 30m sprint and cornering s turn agility tests with broad jump test and also with off-ice push-up and plank tests (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: As a result of the performance tests, push up test might be a distinctive test in determining the performance of the athletes after injury. Also on-ice tests had a correlation with off-ice plank test which is the indicator of core muscle strength.
Treatment for Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is through lifestyle modification consisting of caloric restriction and exercise, with an emphasis on weight loss. Unfortunately, the success and longevity of lifestyle changes that focus on weight loss, are poor in children. The dietary recommendation of calorie restriction alone may not be optimal in a pediatric population for multiple reasons including changes in hormonal milieu, growth velocity, and decreased bone mineral density that occur with significant weight loss. Mediterranean Diet (MD) is based on the high intake of extra virgin olive oil, vegetables, fruits, cereals, nuts and legumes; moderate intakes of fish and other meats, dairy products and red wine and low intakes of eggs and sweets. So, it provides a large amount of monounsaturated fatty acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vegetable proteins, fibre and antioxidants; and low amounts of sugar, cholesterol and saturated fats. It offers a lot of choice in food selection, and well tolerated, and many people can adhere to it over the long term. The investigators aimed to evaluate the effects of a MD vs. low fat diet on changes in hepatic steatosis, aminotransferases, and anthropometric measurements among obese children with NAFLD
