Comparison of Criteria for Liver Transplantation in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hepatocellular cancer is the 6th most common seen disease in the world and the 3rd in cancer-related deaths. Liver transplantation is the primary curative treatment of HCC, as it eliminates liver cancer and underlying cirrhosis. However, liver transplantation is not offered to every HCC patient, since advanced stage HCC patients are lost with tumor recurrence early after liver transplantation. The Milan criteria, which are accepted worldwide, are the patient selection criteria that we have to follow in cadaver-to-liver transplantation for HCC in our country. However, as the Milan criteria are very strict criteria, it pushes patients out of liver transplantation who exceed the Milan criteria but who can benefit from liver transplantation. Liver transplantation centers all over the world have declared their own criteria under the expanded Milan criteria. In our country, Malatya Criteria have been defined by İnönü University on this subject, and our studies on this subject still continue. When we scan the original articles of all these defined criteria, incomplete data are formed and therefore the strength of the criteria cannot be clearly revealed. For this reason, we aimed to analyze the results of our center and present information about the power of the criteria to the literature.

Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Version of S-ROM-Neck

Patient-reported joint motion assessment tools have been developed and applied successfully in several joints of the body. "The Self Administered Neck Mobility Assessment Tool (S-ROM-Neck)" questionnaire was developed by Langenfeld et al in 2018. With this questionnaire, the clinicians are able to evaluate the neck joint motion perception of the patients, subjectively. There is no Turkish version of the questionnaire. The aim of our study is to develop the Turkish version of the S-ROM-Neck questionnaire, to analyze its cultural adaptation, and to reveal its validity and reliability.

Can Zirconia Crown be the First Choice for Primary Teeth?

Objective: Early loss of primary teeth due to caries, can cause occlusion disorders, aesthetic problems, nutritional problems, abnormal language habits, speech disorders and psychological problems temporary or permanent. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the success of using prefabricated aesthetic crowns for the restoration of excessive tooth loss. Study design: In this randomized, non-blinded clinical study a total of 45 teeth were included, primary molars and anterior teeth and requiring restoration after root canal treatment. Stainless steel(SCC), zirconia(ZC) and strip(S) crowns compared clinically, radiographically and periodontally during follow up period for 6 months. Parents were asked to fill out questionnaire at the 1st and 6th months to evaluate the satisfaction level. In addition, patients' pain and discomfort level was assessed using the visual analogue scale (VAS) scale.

Effectiveness of Paracervical Block in Endometrial Sampling Procedures for Pain Control

Office-based endometrial procedures are preferred over diagnostic dilation and curettage, nowadays. Paracervical block is single-shot nerve block that involve a one-time injection of local anesthetic adjacent to the utero-vaginal nerve plexus. Block provides analgesia during cervical pass of sampling device or manipulation of cervix. The paracervical block seems to work within few minutes after injection, but the optimal waiting time between injection and procedure is not known. In this randomized controlled study, it was aimed to determine the effect of waiting time of 1 minute and 3 minutes after paracervical block in endometrial sampling procedures using Pipelle cannula in terms of pain during and after the endometrial sampling and to compare with NSAIDs taken before the procedure.

Heat Application on Depression, Anxiety, Menstrual Attitude and Dysmenorrhea

AIM: Establishing the effects of heat application on depression, anxiety, menstrual attitude and severity of dysmenorrhea. METHODS: This randomized controlled prospective experimental trial was conducted with 43 students who were suffering from dysmenorrhea under 2 groups, the heat treatment group (n=20) and the control group (n=23). To the heat treatment group, dry heat was applied for 20 minutes to the lower abdominal region of the subjects when their dysmenorrhea was most severe. The control group did not receive any treatments. The data were acquired by using a Personal Information Form. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for determining the severity of dysmenorrhea, the Short Form McGill Pain Questionnaire to establish the type of pain, the Menstrual Attitude Questionnaire to establish the attitude and the practices during dysmenorrhea and the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale to determine the psychological impacts of dysmenorrhea were used. In the first menstrual cycle, both groups received the questionnaires, and no treatment was applied. At the second, third and fourth menstrual cycles, VAS and the McGill Pain Questionnaire were applied before the treatment (T1), right after the treatment (T2) and 2 hours after the treatment (T3). The Menstrual Attitude Questionnaire and the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale were applied right after the treatment.
