The Effect of Sexual Health Training Given to Nursing Students on Knowledge and Attitude

Start date: December 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Nurses play an important role in providing sexual health care to individuals. In this study, sexual health education will be implemented in an innovative way by supporting the use of models in the process of sexual counseling of nursing students to patients. The PLISSIT model, which is most frequently used when providing sexual counseling services to patients, will be taught to nursing students and its effectiveness will be determined. In the literature, only one study was found regarding the use of the PLISSIT model in sexual health assessment, conducted with students. The research was planned as pretest-posttest comparative, randomised, with an experimental and a control group, and with repeated measurements, in order to determine the effect of sexual health education given to nursing students with the PLISSIT model on sexual health care knowledge, sexual health care attitudes and myths about sexual health. This research will be carried out between December 2023 and March 2024 with the participation of fourth-year students studying at Marmara University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. Students who meet the inclusion criteria will be randomly assigned to experimental (n=45) and control (n=45) groups. The data of the research will be obtained using the "Student Information Form", "Knowledge of Sexual Healthcare Scale ", "Attitude to Sexual Healthcare Scale", "Sexual Myths Scale" and "Student Opinion Form on Sexual Health Education". Ethical permission and institutional permission were obtained. The research While routine training will be given to the control group during the training, the experimental group will be given sexual health training including 16 hours of PLISSIT model teaching by the researcher. The data of the research will be obtained before the training, immediately after the training and 3 months after the training, using a data collection form.

NCT ID: NCT05877027 Not yet recruiting - Gonarthrosis Clinical Trials

Exercise vs. Topical Diclofenac vs. PRP

Start date: May 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis, is a chronic and degenerative joint disease. It has been reported to affect more than 300 million adults and elderly individuals worldwide. The joint most commonly affected by osteoarthritis is the knee joint and this condition is called gonarthrosis. The goal of treatment is to reduce symptoms and ultimately slow the progression of the disease with various treatment options throughout the course of the disease.Current clinical studies prepared by the working groups of the International Osteoarthritis Research Society (OARSI) and the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO) According to the guidelines, treatment typically includes physiotherapy interventions with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and analgesics, including intra-articular injections of corticosteroids. Exercise-oriented physiotherapy is one of the main approaches for the conservative treatment of gonarthrosis. The curative clinical effect of exercise therapy on pain and functional disability in gonarthrosis is important. The use of PRP in the treatment of gonarthrosis is based on the ability of platelets to release biologically active proteins and promote tissue healing. Since the cartilage tissue mainly affected in gonarthrosis has low healing potential, this feature of platelets becomes more important for the target tissue. Existing studies show that PRP is superior to hyaluronic acid in intermediate and initial gonarthrosis; on the other hand, less satisfactory results are reported in severe gonarthrosis, similar to viscosupplementation. Topically or orally administered NSAIDs form the backbone of pharmacological treatment in gonarthrosis. It is seen that both exercise, PRP and topical NSAID agents are among the recommendations in the treatment of gonarthrosis. However, there is insufficient evidence regarding the superiority and therapeutic efficacy of these three treatment approaches. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of "exercise", "PRP" and "NSAID-specific topical agents" in the treatment of patients with gonarthrosis; pain, function, quality of life, and patient satisfaction.

NCT ID: NCT05875545 Not yet recruiting - Women Clinical Trials

Effects of Breathing Exercises in Women With Chronic Pelvic Pain

Start date: June 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary cause of the complex interaction of chronic pelvic pain originates from the visceral organs in the pelvic cavity, and it has been observed that musculoskeletal dysfunctions (such as increased muscle activity in the pelvic floor muscles) are often accompanied by visceral painful stimuli in the pelvic region as a result of shared innervation and visceral-somatic convergence. This study aims to investigate the effect of breathing exercises combined with pelvic floor exercises on pain, pelvic floor muscle activity, psychological factors, and quality of life in women with chronic pelvic pain.

NCT ID: NCT05872529 Not yet recruiting - Delirium Clinical Trials

Turkish Precision Anaesthesia Study Project

TuPASProject
Start date: July 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Postoperative delirium (POD) and postoperative neurocognitive disorder (PND) increase the length of hospital stay, morbidity and mortality, especially in elderly patients. Although several risk factors were determined and incidence trials were performed on the development of POD and PND, there has not yet been a multicentre, large-participant study in Turkish population. The SBI approach monitor, detect and help physicians and all perioperative team members to decrease and avoid the adverse side effects of surgery and anaesthesia. In this "before and after" design trial the incidence of POD and PND will be compared before and after education which consists processed EEG and SBI approach. The primary aim of the study is to determine the effect of education which consists processed EEG monitoring and regularly assessment of patient's stress, anxiety, pain, nausea, vomiting, thirst, hunger and better communication at the pre- and postoperative period on the incidence of POD. The secondary aim of the study is to assess the effect of the Safe Brain Initiative approach on patients' thirst feeling, stress-anxiety levels, postoperative pain, postoperative nausea and vomiting, well-being, satisfaction, length of PACU or recovery room stay, length of hospital stay, incidence of PND and in hospital and 3-month mortality. Also, the physicians', nurses' and patients satisfaction will be assessed.

NCT ID: NCT05870280 Not yet recruiting - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Nurse Coaching the Effect of on Glycemic Control, Fear of Hypoglycemia and Risk Perception in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes.

Start date: August 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Because of the unforeseen rate of increase in case numbers, the high rates of mortality and morbidity, and the increased socio economic load it causes, diabetes has become the most discussed chronic and widespread metabolic disease in Turkey, and throughout the World, there are focused efforts to find a solution. It is very important for a person to self-assesss and evaluate to draw a roadmap for improved outcomes in a disease with a high financial and moral burden. A nurse is not only a caregiver to patients, but also a person who guides them to increased engagement and motivation in the care of their illness. Integrative Nurse Coaching is gaining notoriaty as an effective method to improve patient engagament and motivation in self-responsibility for health. The Integrative Nurse Coach Academy in the USA carries out studies and trainings to further this improvement. With cooperation between United States and Turkish nurse colleagues, it aims to bring Integrative Nurse Coach practice to Turkey. The Integrative Nurse Coach uses the nursing process as a framework to guide nurse coaching practice. This requires a shift in traditional nursing terminology and meaning to understand and incorporate the patient's subjective experience as follows: from assessment to stablishing a relationship, identifying readiness for change and the resources available to the patient for change; from nursing diagnosis to identifying opportunities and issues; from outcomes to having the patient set the agenda for achievement of the patient's goals; from 3 planning to creating the structure of the coaching interaction; from intervention to empowering the patient to reach goals; and from evaluating to assisting the patient to determine the extent to which goals were achieved. The Theory of Integrative Nurse Coaching (TINC) , developed by the Integrative Nurse Coach Association , sheds light on this point. The TINC encompasses many holistic nursing theories and contains three concepts and five components. The three concepts are healing, metaparadigm in nursing theory (nurse, person, health, environment), and patterns of knowing in nursing (personal, empirics, aesthetics, ethical, not knowing, sociopolitical. The TINC five components include Integrative Nurse Coach Self-Development (self-reflection, self-assessment, self-evaluation self-care), Integral Perspective and Change, Integrative Lifestyle Health and Well-Being, Awareness and Choice, and Listening With Heart The five components all have equal value and form the basis for the nurse coach professional practice model. There is a parallel process of self-development for both the nurse coach and the client. The SelfDevelopment component empowers individuals (including the nurse coach) to focus on their health and wellness from an integral perspective and to identify their individual knowledge, expertise, strengths, and resources, while recognizing the fluidity of the change. The TINC is designed to guide nurse coaching practice, education, research, and health care policy. The theory emphasizes, describes, and directs the practice of nurse coaching, a recognized holistic nursing modality. It has been seen that the TINC framework is very suitable for individuals with diabetes to provide their own management.

The Effect of Digital-Based Simulation on Physiotherapy Students

Start date: June 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In physiotherapy and rehabilitation education, basic medical courses, clinical information, rehabilitation approaches, special teachings of the profession, clinical problem solving and analysis in their fields are taught during university education. Musculoskeletal problems will be selected for the patient scenarios to be used in the simulation and algorithms will be arranged for the simulation. After the algorithms are created, a website with patient scenarios containing these algorithms will be established with the support of a software company. In addition to the website, a database will be created and the applications made on the site will be recorded. In our study, stepped wedge design will be used. 100 volunteer students participating in the study will start face-to-face training after preliminary evaluations are made. Afterwards, every two weeks, a randomized group of 20 people will be included in the hybrid training, which includes both face-to-face and simulation training. In the face-to-face education group, the educational content prepared in parallel with the patient scenarios in the hybrid education group will be applied in the classroom environment by the students together with the educators themselves. In the hybrid training group, one case analysis will be done every week on the website designed under the supervision of researchers, and one case analysis will be done through face-to-face training. The self-efficacy and clinical reasoning levels of the students included in the study will be evaluated with the Physiotherapist Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and the Clinical Reasoning Assessment Tool. The same evaluations will be repeated after the students in both groups have completed their 10-week education. Afterwards, students' satisfaction levels and suggestions from the simulation will be evaluated with qualitative questions, and opinions and suggestions about simulation will be collected by creating themes.

NCT ID: NCT05859906 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Ventilator-induced Lung Injury

The Effect of Two Different Intra-abdominal Pressure Applications on "Mechanical Power" in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Start date: May 15, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

In laparoscopic surgeries; a trocar is inserted through a small incision and an intervention is made into the peritoneal cavity. Approximately 3-4 liters of carbon dioxide (CO2) insufflation (inflating the abdominal cavity with carbon dioxide gas) is applied and the intra-abdominal pressure is adjusted to 10-20 mmHg. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy operation is routinely performed with 12 mmHg and 14 mmHg pressures in our operating room, and the preferred pressure value is; It is determined by the surgical team to be the most appropriate value for the patient and the operation. Both pressure values applied to the patients intraoperatively are within safe ranges. The mechanical power of ventilation (MP) is the amount of energy transferred per unit time from the mechanical ventilator to the respiratory system. Although this energy is mainly used to overcome airway resistance, some of it directly affects the lung tissue, potentially causing ventilator induced lung injury (VILI). To prevent ventilator-associated lung injury, it requires the mechanical ventilator to be adjusted so that the least amount of energy is transferred to the respiratory system per unit time for each patient. In the results obtained in the published studies; increased mechanical strength has been associated with increased in-hospital mortality, higher hospital stay and higher ICU follow-up requirement. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of two different intra-operative intra-abdominal pressure levels applied to patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia on 'Mechanical Power (MP)'.
