Impact of Vaccine Education Program on Vaccine Advocacy and Vaccine Literacy

This research will be carried out as a randomized controlled study with a waitlist in parallel design to evaluate the effect of the vaccine education and vaccine advocacy program prepared according to The Integrated Change Model on the level of vaccination literacy and the transformation into vaccine advocates. Research hypothesis "H0a: Vaccine education program prepared according to The Integrated Change Model does not affect vaccine literacy, H0b: The vaccine training program prepared according to the integrated change model does not affect the concepts (information sources, intention, attitude, behavior, obstacles) in the integrated change model determined for vaccine advocacy. At the end of the training, it is thought that the mothers in the experimental group will be different from the control group regarding vaccine literacy and the vaccine advocacy concepts (information sources, intention, attitude, behavior) in the model.

Sternocleidomastoid Thickness in Sarcopenia

In order to prevent sarcopenia in intensive care patients and to guide nutritional therapy, evaluation of muscle thickness with ultrasonography is a modern, simple and non-invasive procedure routinely performed by Anesthesiology and Reanimation specialists. Sarcopenia in intensive care patients has been demonstrated in many studies. It has been studied that routine examination of changes in rectus femoris muscle thickness by ultrasonography is a predictor of sarcopenia. However, the muscles in the neck region, such as the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which are easy to examine, have not been studied very well. There is no study in the literature with the sternocleidomastoid muscle. For this reason, we decided to examine the relationship of sternocleidomastoid muscle thickness with patient characteristics, treatments, feeding route and type, feeding time, length of stay in intensive care unit, as in routine measurements of rectus femoris muscle thickness by ultrasonography.

Mindfulness Practices in Earthquake Survivor Nursing Students

Disaster; They are natural, technological or human-induced events that cause physical, economic and social losses for all or certain segments of the society, and stop or interrupt normal life and human activities. Disasters are often unavoidable. They often come suddenly and cause great suffering to the survivors. As natural disasters, especially earthquakes occur frequently in Turkey; cause human and economic losses. The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, which occurred in February 2023 and are described as the disaster of the century, affected ten provinces, namely Gaziantep, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adıyaman, Adana, Malatya, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa and Elazığ, apart from the epicenter. Nursing students who were exposed to this earthquake were adversely affected physically, psychologically, socially and economically. The psychological effects of severe traumatic events such as earthquakes are not seen in all people to the same degree. However, the reactions of individuals to traumatic situations differ in terms of both their positive thinking skills and their ability to use stress coping mechanisms. Positive thinking is the ability to see the bright side of things and makes people more creative and constructive. Approaching events positively and evaluating them with positive thoughts also affect the quality of individuals' daily lives. Positive thinking is also linked to positive emotions, optimism, hope, joy, and happiness. Positive thinking is one of the factors that affect the quality of life and relationships. Individuals with positive thinking characteristics always keep the expectation that good events will happen, and their perspectives and approaches to events are in this direction. Individuals who have such expectations are individuals who can adapt to distressing situations or difficulties more easily than those who do not. In this way, the individual can gain a more optimistic perspective, reduce the amount of stress he experiences and strengthen the mechanism of coping with stress. Many studies show that; Positive thinking skills are an important factor in coping with stress and anxiety, problem solving, happiness, academic performance and even health. The fact that positive thinking skills and mechanisms for coping with stress have such an important role in human life and behavior made us think that we can also benefit from mindfulness practices in strengthening these concepts. The study was shaped within this framework and it was aimed to reveal the effect of mindfulness practices on the positive thinking skills of nursing students and the level of coping mechanisms with stress.

The Effect of Using Double Gloves on Perforation in Orthopedic Surgery

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effect of using double gloves on perforation in orthopedic surgery. Materials and Method: The randomized controlled experimental study was conducted between 30.11.2021 and 31.03.2022 in the Orthopedics and Traumatology operating room of a university hospital in western Turkey. The gloves used in the surgery were randomly divided into two groups (intervention: double glove group = 780 gloves, control: single glove group = 390). The presence of holes was checked by performing a water tightness test with the EN455-1 method on all gloves collected after the surgery by the researcher. Data were evaluated with descriptive statistics, Chi-square Test, Fisher Exact Test, and linear model regression analysis (GLM for the Binomial Family Regression). Statistical significance was accepted as 0.05.

The Effect of High Reality Simulation Method on Problem Solving Skills and Anxiety Levels of Midwifery Students

This study was planned to determine the effect of scenario-based high-fidelity simulation method on the application problem solving skills and anxiety levels of the 3rd year students of Health Sciences University Hamidiye Health Sciences Faculty Midwifery Department. The research, which is planned in a experimental design, will be carried out with Istanbul Health Sciences University Hamidiye Health Sciences Faculty 3rd year midwifery (N:80) students. Students participating in the study will be divided into intervention (n:40) and control (n:40) groups according to the computer-assisted simple random sampling technique. Intervention group students will be given an application about postpartum care on a standard adult patient model in the high-validity simulation laboratory accompanied by a scenario, and control group students will be made in the vocational skills laboratory. "Descriptive Information Form", "State Anxiety Inventory", "Problem Solving Inventory" and "Satisfaction Questionnaire with Educational Methods" will be applied to the students participating in the research.

This study was planned to determine the effect of simulation-based postpartum hemorrhage management on the application skills, satisfaction, self-confidence and self-efficacy-competences of Health Sciences University Hamidiye Health Sciences Faculty Midwifery Department 3rd year students. The research, which was planned in a randomized controlled experimental design, will be conducted with Istanbul Health Sciences University Hamidiye Health Sciences Faculty 3rd year midwifery (N:82) students. Students participating in the study will be divided into intervention (n:41) and control (n:41) groups according to the computer-assisted simple random sampling technique. Before the application, both groups will be given 2 hours of theoretical information on the evaluation and management of postpartum hemorrhage. 41 students assigned to the intervention group will be given a high-fidelity simulator, and 41 students assigned to the control group will be given practical training accompanied by an adult standard patient care model. "Descriptive Information Form", "Evaluation of Simulation-Based Learning Scale", "Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale", "Self-Efficacy Scale" and "Early Postpartum Hemorrhage Management Skill Evaluation Form" will be applied to the students participating in the research.

Pain Neuroscience Education in Patients With Total Knee Arthroplasty

The aim of Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) is to explain to patients the biological and physiological processes involved in a pain experience and, more importantly, defocus the issues associated with the anatomical structures. PNE provides compelling evidence in reducing pain, disability, pain catastrophization, and limited physical movement in musculoskeletal problems. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a very common painful musculoskeletal problem, especially in people over 50 years old, and lead to decrease in knee range of motion. Despite costly arthroscopic surgeries and long-term physiotherapy treatments, poor outcomes are common. The lack of satisfactory results suggests that some practices should be revised. Although PNE could be useful as an intervention, to our knowledge, there is no randomized controlled trial in the literature investigating the effects of PNE in patients with a KOA. Therefore, we aimed to examine the effectiveness of PNE on clinical outcomes in patients with KOA.
