NCT ID: NCT06046690 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Mechanical Ventilation

Comparison Of The Effects Of Inspiratory Muscle Training Methods in Mechanically Ventilated Patients

Start date: November 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Inspiratory Muscle Training(IMT) increases the strength and endurance of the inspiratory muscles, exercise capacity, quality of life and reduces the perception of dyspnea. It has been reported in the literature that it also has an effect on mechanical ventilated patients in the intensive care unit. In patients on mechanical ventilation, IMT is applied with modification of trigger sensitivity and with an external device. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of inspiratory muscle training with external device and MV modification on respiratory muscle strength and intubation time

NCT ID: NCT06046521 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Temporomandibular Joint Disorders

Impact of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction on Objective and Subjective Vocal Measures

Start date: September 20, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The present study aims to investigate the impact of temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) on objective and subjective vocal parameters and the quality of life in affected patients. TMD is a pervasive public health issue that impacts approximately 25% of the general population and is notably more prevalent among women. The etiology of TMD is multi-factorial, with known risk factors such as parafunctional habits, emotional stress, occlusion issues, and orthodontic treatments. Internal derangements of the temporomandibular joint are the most common subtype of TMD, characterized by symptoms such as pain, joint noises, restricted mouth opening, and masticatory dysfunction. This study particularly focuses on the limitations in mouth opening due to TMD and its effects on vocal characteristics and quality of life. Conservative treatment methods, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and occlusal splints, have been effective in symptom management unless there is clear evidence of joint collapse or ankylosis. The null hypothesis (H0) posits that the restriction in mouth opening has no impact on vocal parameters or quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT06046430 Recruiting - Frozen Shoulder Clinical Trials

Investigation of Laterality and Sensory Acuity Abilities of Frozen Shoulder Patients

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The brain contains the body representation necessary for normal functioning, including goal-directed movements and behaviors. Body representation involves integrated sensory input and ideas about one's body. Both executed and imagined movements depend on the representation of the body in the cortical area. Laterilization is one of the motor imagery methods that requires activation of proprioceptive, somatosensory and premotor regions and enables the determination of pain-induced cortical changes. Another method to determine pain-related somatosensory changes is the two-point discrimination test. It is suggested that laterization and sensory acuity responses may change due to long-term pain and stiffness experienced in people with frozen shoulders. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the laterization and sensory acuity abilities of patients with frozen shoulder.

NCT ID: NCT06046378 Completed - Education Clinical Trials

The Effect of Digital Stories Prepared With Digital Audio File (Podcast) on Midwifery Learning

Start date: October 3, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study was conducted as a randomized controlled study to determine the effect of digital stories prepared with a digital audio file (podcast) on learning in midwifery education. The study was carried out with Kocaeli University Midwifery 3rd grade students. Between October 3 and October 7, 2022, which is the beginning of Kocaeli University 2022-2023 academic year academic calendar, a meeting was held with students about working outside the classroom. The study was completed with 65 students as experimental (n=33) and control group (n=32). Data were collected with participant information form, knowledge test, digital stories evaluation questionnaire prepared with digital audio file (podcast). These stories, which consist of three parts about preparation for natural birth, ideal birth environment and natural birth, were recorded in an appropriate environment and quality, accompanied by a trainer who is an expert in digital audio files (podcast) designs. The knowledge test was applied as a pre-test in the first encounter with the students who accepted the study. Digital stories were sent to the students in the experimental group in the form of e-mails. At the end of the unit, a post-test was administered to both groups. Again, 21 days later, the study was completed by conducting a retention test (knowledge test) and a digital story evaluation questionnaire prepared with a digital audio file (podcast) for both groups. After the study, digital stories prepared with a digital audio file (podcast) were sent to all students in the control group who completed the study, allowing the students to reinforce the subject. While evaluating the findings in the study, Number Cruncher Statistical System 2020 Statistical Software (NCSS LLC, Kaysville, Utah, USA) program was used for statistical analysis. While evaluating the research data, quantitative variables were shown with mean, standard deviation, median, min and max values, and qualitative variables were shown with descriptive statistical methods such as frequency and percentage. Shapiro Wilks test and Box Plot plots were used to evaluate the suitability of the data for normal distribution. Student's t-test, Mann Whitney-U test, Kruskal Wallis test, Dunn test, Spearman correlation analysis, linear regression, chi-square test, Fisher's Exact test, Isher's Exact test and Fisher Freeman Halton and F test were used. The results were evaluated at 95% confidence interval and p<0.05 significance level.

NCT ID: NCT06046300 Not yet recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

The Relationship Between Trunk Position Sense and Muscle Activation, Balance and Quality of Life in Amputees

Start date: February 15, 2025
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

This study was planned to examine the relationship between trunk position sense and muscle activation, balance and quality of life in individuals with transtibial amputation. Individuals with unilateral transtibial amputation who have been using prostheses for at least 1 year and volunteered to participate in the study, as well as healthy individuals with similar demographic characteristics will be included in the study. The number of cases considered to be included in the study will be obtained from the statistical analysis of the results of the pilot study to be conducted with 5 individuals, since there is no study on the subject. The power of the study will be determined as 0.80. After determining the number of individuals to be included in the study group, a control group will be formed with the same number of healthy individuals. The study will be terminated when the determined total number of participants is reached. Body position sense, trunk muscle activation, static and dynamic balance performances and quality of life of all individuals will be evaluated. Body position sense of individuals with "Dualer IQ Pro Digital Inclinometer" device, trunk muscle activation with "Delsys Trigno IM wireless surface electromyography (sEMG) system", balance with "Bertec balance platform", balance and functional mobility with "Berg Balance Scale (BDI) ", "Timed Up and Go Test (SKYT)" and "Modified Star Excursion Test (SEBT)" and quality of life will be evaluated with "Trinity Amputation and Prosthesis Experience Scale (TAPES)". As a result of our study, investigators think that it will contribute to the current scientific knowledge about the somatosensory and biomechanical mechanisms underlying the abnormalities that occur in the trunk after transtibial amputation, to determine whether the trunk position sense of individuals with transtibial amputation is affected or not, and to determine the relationship between trunk position sense and muscle activation, balance and quality of life.
