Perioperative aspiration is particularly concerning in pregnant women due to anatomical changes. To mitigate this risk, pre-anesthetic fasting is recommended, with varying guidelines. Gastric ultrasound can non-invasively assess stomach contents, and mathematical models help estimate stomach volumes using the gastric antral cross-sectional area (CSA). This study aims to compare CSA and estimated gastric volumes through ultrasound in fasting diabetic and non-diabetic pregnant women scheduled for cesarean section, as diabetes may affect stomach fullness. Additionally, it will investigate the relation between demographic and clinical variables and CSA values. This research can shed light on diabetes' influence on aspiration risk in pregnancy and evaluate fasting guidelines, underscoring the significance of gastric ultrasound.

Proper sleep habits are needed for quality and adequate sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation, these habits include practices such as regular bedtimes, sleep routines, screen restrictions before bed. With the age of starting school in children; Due to the roles brought by school, lessons and social obligations, problems such as delay in bedtime and shorter sleep time are seen. Shortening of sleep time causes sleep deprivation. sleep deprivation; It is defined as a delay in bedtime and a shorter sleep time than would normally be due to intentional or daily activities. The use of sleep hygiene interventions to address sleep deprivation in children is highly effective. Sleep hygiene is a cost-effective method that is performed without the need for any additional material, consisting of both environmental and behavioral habits. In our study, a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest-control study design with a control group will be used to determine the effect of sleep hygiene education applied with the combined package program on sleep deprivation and sleep habits in children. After the necessary permissions are obtained, the classes will be divided into experiments and controls by drawing lots. To the experimental group; After the pre-test is applied, training and tasks will be given. In addition, a sleep hygiene policy will be sent to the families by phone every day. The total intervention will last four weeks, at the end of which a post-test will be administered. Two weeks will be waited without intervention, two weeks later the control measurement will be made. To the control group; Pre-test and post-test will be applied at the same time with the experimental group and training will be given after the post-test. The research data will be evaluated with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) statistical program on the computer and in the form of numbers, percentages, averages and standard deviations for descriptive statistics in the computer environment and with necessary statistical analyzes. Significance will be accepted as p<0.05 at α=95% confidence interval.

Diabetes management consists of drug therapy, self-management, medical nutrition therapy, exercise and education parameters, and sleep disorders are ignored in diabetes management. The slightest disruption to sleep patterns has definite and direct effects on daily life and general health. Therefore; stay healthy; Sleep is necessary renew and repair systems such as to renew and muscle systems. Inadequate sleep quality can lead to impaired cognition, and sleep quality is an important aspect of life. Sleep disturbance or poor sleep quality is higher in individuals with chronic disease. Sleep disturbance in diabetes is associated with higher HbA1c levels and diseases such as diabetes reduce sleep quality and regularity; It is known to cause sleep disorders. Especially in Type 2 Diabetes cases, sleep problems are common. Having a chronic illness like Type 2 Diabetes can have an impact on sleep quality and rate alone. Complementary and integrated applications such as progressive relaxation exercise, which is one of the cognitive behavioral techniques, have been frequently used in researches in the field of nursing, due to its effects such as relatively relieving tension and anxiety in skeletal muscles, facilitating the transition to sleep and helping to reduce sleep problems. Despite the differences in progressive muscle relaxation methods, studies have shown that progressive muscle relaxation has important results in improving sleep quality in individuals with chronic diseases. In this respect, it is predicted that progressive relaxation exercise may give positive results on sleep quality in individuals with diabetes.
