There are about 15072 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Turkey. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of nutrition Training on mothers' nutrition pattern, breast milk and newborn intestinal microbiota. Materials and methods: The study was conducted as a non-randomized controlled experimental study. The population of the study consisted of mothers and their babies who delivered vaginally, breastfeeded their babies at the end of the second postnatal day and delivered at the maternity ward of the Malatya Training and Research Hospital Beydağı Campus. The sample of the study consisted of 120 mothers, 57 of whom were experimental and 63 of them were in the control group. In this study, a sub-sample of 15 mothers and their infants was selected and microbiota of breast milk and stool samples were examined. In the first interview with the mothers in the experimental and control groups, Participant Identification Form, BTSKF were applied as a pre-test and stool samples of breast milk and newborn were taken. Then, the mothers in the experimental group were given nutritional education. In addition, motivational messages were sent to mothers' phones once a week. MTS in the experimental and control groups were filled with BTSKF as an intermediate test at the first month and post-test at the third month and stool samples of breast milk and newborn were collected at the mothers' own homes. During these visits, nutrition counseling was given to the mothers in the experimental group.
The consumption of energy drinks has significantly increased in recent years but their adverse effects are not yet efficiently known. The objective of the study is to determine the acute effects of energy drink on habitual and non-habitual caffeine consumers and if caffeine consumption habit causes a difference on the hemodynamic and electrophysiologic parameters. This study was conducted on 48 students selected from Aydın Adnan Menderes University. Four main groups were determined according to the results of the application acceptance survey. Blood pressure, electrocardiogram, breath rate, haemoglobin oxygen saturation and bioelectrical impedance analysis were measured before consuming the drinks. After consuming the drinks, measurements were repeated at 30 minutes and 60 minutes. In addition to this, Participant's Situation Anxiety Scale was applied.
This is an international, randomized, open-label, Phase 3 study designed to evaluate whether the potent and selective RET inhibitor, pralsetinib, improves outcomes when compared to a platinum chemotherapy-based regimen chosen by the Investigator from a list of standard of care treatments, as measured primarily by progression free survival (PFS), for participants with RET fusion-positive metastatic NSCLC who have not previously received systemic anticancer therapy for metastatic disease.
The nerve blocks applied with ultrasonography are used for pain and operation after many operations today. Applications with ultrasonography shorten the processing time, reduce the amount of local anesthetic used and lead to fewer complications. However, the use of ultrasonography is not so common in neuraxial regional anesthesia applications. In the literature, epidural applications accompanied by ultrasonography were applied with different approaches.
Questionnaires are available to measure expectations based on patient and treatment expectations in musculoskeletal disorders. In order to elucidate the factors that change expectations in the treatment of pain, more valid and reliable measurement tools are needed to measure the expectations of patients. The validity and reliability made in Turkey, there is no comprehensive study that measures the expectations of treatment. Therefore, the aim of this study was to test the Turkish validity and characteristics of the Chronic Pain Expectations Scale in patients with pain due to chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pembrolizumab plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy compared to placebo plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy in participants with locally advanced cervical cancer. The primary hypotheses are that pembrolizumab plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy is superior to placebo plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy with respect to progression-free survival and overall survival. Once the study objectives have been met or the study has ended, participants will be discontinued from this study and will be enrolled in an extension study to continue protocol-defined assessments and treatment.
Thoracotomy surgery is the most painful of all surgical procedures. Inadequate postoperative pain control in these patients may cause serious morbidity related to pulmonary, cardiovascular and emotional systems. Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) was first described in 2016 and, it is frequently used for postoperative analgesia in thoracic surgery. Intravenous lidocaine exhibit analgesic activity through both the peripheral and central nervous system. Intravenous lidocaine has been shown to reduce postoperative pain intensity and accelerate postoperative recovery in many surgeries. The investigators aimed to compare the effect of lidocaine infusion and erector spinae plane block on postoperative opioid consumption and pain scores.
Primary Objectives: Primary population (adult participants with late-onset GM2 gangliosidosis): To assess the efficacy and pharmacodynamics (PD) of daily oral dosing of venglustat when administered over a 104-week period Secondary population (participants with juvenile/adolescent late-onset GM2 gangliosidosis, GM1 gangliosidosis, saposin C deficiency, sialidosis type 1 or juvenile/adult galactosialidosis): To assess PD response (plasma and CSF GL-1 biomarker and disease specific biomarkers) of venglustat when administered once daily over a 104-week period Secondary Objectives: Primary population: - To assess the PD of daily oral dosing of venglustat and the effect of venglustat on selected performance test and scale over a 104-week period - To determine the safety and tolerability of venglustat when administered orally once daily over a 104-week period - To assess the pharmacokinetics (PK) of venglustat in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) Secondary population: - To assess the effect of venglustat on selected performance tests and scale over a 104-week period - To determine the safety and tolerability of venglustat when administered once daily over a 104-week period - To assess the PK of venglustat in plasma and CSF - To assess the acceptability and palatability of the venglustat tablet
The authors aimed to detect inflammatory marker changes in two natural orifice hysterectomies: single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy (SLH) and vaginal hysterectomy (VH). Between 2018 and 2019, data obtained from patients in the SLH and VH groups were reviewed retrospectively. The preoperative and postoperative hematocrit (HCT), hemoglobin (HB), white blood cell (WBC), platelet (PLR), and neutrophil-lymphocyte (NLR) ratios and values were compared as well as the demographic characteristics of the patients.
Development of fibrosis plays a main role in the pathophysiology of liver diseases. The rate of progression in fibrogenesis varies according to the type of underlying liver disease and varies with the environment and host-related factors. End-stage liver diseases are characterized by systemic vascular resistance and decreased arterial blood pressure, increased heart rate and cardiac output . Disruption of regulation of neurogenic, humoral and vascular functions is effective in these cardiovascular changes. In end-stage liver diseases, glycogen storage and corruption of glyconeogenesis cause muscle protein and fat to be used for energy, resulting in weight loss and muscle weakness. According to the latest data of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health in Turkey in 2223 patients are waiting for liver transplantation. Acute and chronic liver disease and infectious complications lead to an increase in the number of hospitalizations and prolonged hospital stay and severely affect the functional status and mortality. In recent years, more attention has been paid to complications from chronic diseases, including malnutrition, sarcopenia, poor functional capacity, and frailty. There are few studies in the literature examining functional capacity and physical frailty in end-stage liver disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between functional capacity and frailty in end-stage liver disease.
