NCT ID: NCT04255173 Completed - Obesity, Visceral Clinical Trials

Anthropometric And Body Composition Measurements Related To Osteoporosis In Geriatric Population

Start date: January 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The patients who consulted to the geriatric outpatient clinic between 2018 and 2019 were included in the study. The inclusion criterions were being at or over the age of 65 and diagnosed with osteoporosis according to WHO criteria. Exclusion criteria include vertebral fracture due to known accidental traumas, history of drug therapy in the past year (biphosphonate, estrogen replacement therapy, glucocorticoids ), history of co-morbidities as malignancy, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, renal failure, hyperthyroidism, primer hyperparathyroidism, rheumatic disease or adrenal diseases. Initially, a demographic form including age, sex, comorbidities, weight, height was filled by the participants. Body mass index (BMI, ratio of height and weight, expressed as kg/m2) calculated. Patients waist and hip circumference was measured (cm). Fat percentage and skeletal muscle mass (SMM) was calculated by using bioimpedance analysis (BIA) (Tanita TBF 300; Tanita Corp., Tokyo, Japan). Skeletal muscle index (SMI) was calculated from BIA-based skeletal muscle mass with a formula as SMM/height [m2] [8]. ABSI is measured as waist circumference (m) / (BMI(kg)2/3x Height(m)5/6) [4]. Osteoporosis was evaluated by using dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA). According to the T-scores calculated from femur neck (FN) and lumbar spine (LS), subjects divided into 3 groups as following: a) normal: T-score is greater than -1 SD, b) osteopenia: T-score is between -1 and -2.5 SD, c) osteoporosis: T-score is lower than -2.5 SD. Physical activity levels of patients were evaluated with The Rapid Assessment of Physical Activity (RAPA) aerobic assessment [9]. Patients divided into 5 groups as following: 1 = sedentary, 2 = underactive, 3 = regular underactive (light activities), 4 = regular underactive, and 5 = regular active). The study protocol was approved by the ethics committee (2018/0478) and all participants gave written informed consent.

NCT ID: NCT04254952 Completed - Clinical trials for Hyperventilation Syndrome

Turkish Version of Nijmegen Questionnaire

Start date: September 15, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study aims to provide Turkish version of Nijmegen Questionnaire for the evaluation of respiratory dysfunction in asthmatic subjects. The incidence of hyperventilation syndrome in asthmatic patients can be determined with the results of the study.

NCT ID: NCT04254744 Completed - SIRS Clinical Trials

SIRS in Cyanotic and Acyanotic Children in Cardiac Surgery

SIRS
Start date: February 4, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) is frequently observed in children after open-heart surgery and has been associated with both cardiopulmonary bypass and surgical trauma. Children with congenital cyanotic heart disease (CCHD) have complex changes in all blood values and clotting profiles due to chronic hypoxemia. Increased erythrocyte count decreases plasma and coagulation factors, platelet count and function. Therefore, blood and blood products transfusion may increase during intraoperative and postoperative periods. In addition, durations of cardiopulmonary bypass may prolong due to the complex defects of children with CCHD. The aim of this study is to investigate postoperative SIRS rates and risk factors in cyanotic and acyanotic children undergoing open heart surgery for congenital heart disease.

NCT ID: NCT04254510 Completed - Clinical trials for Woman; Primary Dysmenorrhoea

The Effect of Myofascial Release Technique on the Treatment of Primary Dysmenorrhea in Psoas Muscle

Start date: February 10, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dysmenorrhea is a series of pathological symptoms associated with menstruation that interfere with daily activities such as abdominal cramps and pain in the menstrual period. General symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, lumbago, diarrhea and headache are also common. Primary dysmenorrhea refers to menstrual pain that does not depend on the underlying pathology. The kidneys act on the fascia of the psoas muscle. If the psoas muscle does not shorten and grow sufficiently, the kidneys may not move for a certain period of time and may experience ptosis. This causes venous ponding and may cause varicocele in men and primary dysmenorrhea in women. Techniques to be applied directly to the fascia of the psoas muscle can reduce symptoms of dysmenorrhea in women. In the literature review, no studies investigating the effectiveness of a treatment applied directly and only on the psoas muscle on primary dysmenorrhea were not found. This study can set an example for future studies. In our study, myofascial relaxation technique will be applied in women with primary dysmenorrhoea and its effect on pain will be examined.

NCT ID: NCT04254458 Completed - Clinical trials for Acute Primary Angle-closure Glaucoma

Corneal Densitometry in Acute Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

Start date: March 22, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Purpose: Our purpose was to investigate the laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) induced changes in corneal densitometry in acute primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) cases during the post-laser 1 month period. Material and methods: This prospective study included 21 eyes of 21 cases with first acute attack of PACG. All the eyes underwent LPI with neodymium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd: YAG) laser after the intraocular pressure (IOP) decreased to normal levels with maximal systemic and topical anti-glaucoma treatment and complete regression of clinically significant corneal edema. Central corneal thickness (CCT) and corneal density values were measured by densitometry software of Pentacam HR-Scheimpflug corneal topography over a 12-mm diameter of the cornea just before LPI and at the first week and the first month after LPI. Kolmogorov smirnov and paired-t tests were used for statistical analysis.
