NCT ID: NCT05851820 Completed - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

Prevalence and Impact of Diabetes Mellitus in Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients in a Tunisian Center

Start date: September 25, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and impact of diabetes mellitus on the severity and mortality of COVID-19. Methods: Data of laboratory-confirmed hospitalized patients at the COVID-19 unit of Ibn El Jazzar University Hospital in Kairouan between September 2020 and August 2021 were analysed, in a cross-sectional study. The population was classified into two groups (COVID-19 patients with versus without diabetes). Primary outcomes were the overall length of hospital stay, the admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), and death.

NCT ID: NCT05851664 Completed - General Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Do we Intubate Faster With the Videolaryngoscope?

Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Aim of the study was to determine the impact of the videolaryngoscpe on the time needed to intubate. This was a Prospective, randomized, simple blinded study. The participants intubated patients for surgery under general anesthesia either with direct laryngoscpy or with videolaryngoscopy.

NCT ID: NCT05847361 Completed - Acute Renal Failure Clinical Trials

BH4 Blood Levels Variations in Pre Eclamptic Women

BH4P
Start date: March 15, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) is degraded by several enzymes, including BH4 oxidase and peroxidases. Several factors can affect its synthesis and degradation. BH4 deficiency or depletion and genetic variations in the genes involved in BH4 metabolism have been associated with hypertension, suggesting that BH4 may play a role in the pathogenesis of hypertension. The maternity center of Tunis ( CMNT ) is a level 3 maternity center, supporting over 12 000 births yearly, where the caesarean section's rate is very high, close to 45% of deliveries. Early detection of these patients can help control maternal and neonatal safety outcomes. we can avoid complications such as severe preeclampsia, HELLP syndrom and eclampsia for the mother, and preterm delievery and fetal growth restriction for the new born. in the literature, studies have reported a decrease in BH4 levels in pregnant women compared to non-pregnant women and others showed that its deficiency or depletion has been associated with hypertension. Moreover, tetrahydrobiopterin administration has been studied as a potential treatment for preeclampsia but the optimal dose has not yet been determined, and further studies are needed to determine the appropriate dose, timing, and duration of BH4 supplementation in this context. Thus, BH4 blood levels as a mean of screening, could enrich our diagnostic arsenal. The purpose of our study is to compare BH4 levels between preeclamptic and normotensive women.

NCT ID: NCT05824039 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Safety and Efficacy of Medicinal Plant Extract in Overweight and Obese Participants.

Start date: March 20, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this randomized , double -blind clinical trial is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a daily administration of Nitraria retusa extract in overweight and obese participants, during 10 days.

NCT ID: NCT05822180 Completed - COVID-19 Pneumonia Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Nano-S1

COVNANOS1
Start date: January 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to assess the efficacy of the efficacy and safety of investigational drug (NanoS) in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including death.

NCT ID: NCT05808972 Completed - Acetonuria Clinical Trials

0.9% Saline Versus Balanced Solutions in Severe Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Start date: November 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a potentially serious complication of diabetes mellitus. The treatment regimen is based on insulin and rehydration. The choice of rehydration solution is a question that remains open. We sought to compare the effect of sodium chloride 0.9% (SC) versus ringer lactate (RL) in the resolution of severe DKA as well as on the variation of electrolytes.

NCT ID: NCT05806723 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Effects of High Intensity Statin Therapy on Steroid Hormones and Vitamin D in Type 2 Diabetic Men

Start date: March 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study was to assess the effect of high intensity statin therapy on testicular and adrenal steroids and vitamin D levels in type 2 diabetes males. It is a prospective study, conducted between march 2021 and July 2022, including 60 men with type 2 diabetes, aged 40 - 65 years, statin-free, and in whom a treatment with high intensity statin was indicated. The patients had two visits, before and six months after a daily intake of 40 mg of atorvastatin. During each visit, they underwent a clinical examination including the Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male (ADAM) questionnaire and a fasting blood sample was collected for biological and hormonal measurements.

NCT ID: NCT05715593 Completed - Clinical trials for Health Education, COVID-19, Quarantine, Anxiety, Pandemic

The Effectiveness of a Health Education Intervention to Reduce Anxiety in Quarantined COVID-19 Patients

Start date: February 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

we aimed to assess the impact of health education on the anxiety level of COVID-19 patients during the isolation period.

NCT ID: NCT05688501 Completed - Clinical trials for Gastro Intestinal Bleeding

Clinical-biological Score for Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Start date: September 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Gastrointestinal bleeding is a frequent reason for consultation in the Emergency Department. It is a real emergency associated with fairly significant morbidity and mortality. The incidence of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (HDH) has been reported to be 67-103 per 100,000 adults per year in the UK with mortality rates of 2%-8%. While Lower Gastrointestinal Bleeding (LBHB) has a lower incidence estimated at 33 per 100,000 adults per year. Additionally, compared to HDB, HDB appears to have less need for hemostatic intervention and lower mortality.

NCT ID: NCT05685212 Completed - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

Prediction of Hypotension During Cesarean Delivery Using Positional Change of Hemodynamic Parameters

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This was a prospective observational study between January 2022 and June 2022. The investigators included parturients aged 18 to 45 years, consenting, classified ASA II and III, scheduled for elective or emergency cesarean section (Lucas III-IV). Baseline hemodynamic parameters were measured in 3 different positions: sitting, supine, and left lateral tilt 15°. The investigators defined Δ1 as the change from the sitting position to the supine position ad Δ2 as the change from the left lateral tilt 15° position to the supine position. Our primary endpoint was the incidence of hypotension defined as a decrease of more than 20% from baseline values. The investigators performed univariate and then multivariate analysis.
