Start date: December 3, 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The present trial will be performed to evaluate whether BIBF 1120 in combination with standard therapy of docetaxel in patients with stage IIIB/IV or recurrent NSCLC is more effective as compared to placebo in combination with standard therapy of docetaxel. A secondary aim is to obtain safety information as well as information on quality of life of patients treated with BIBF 1120 in combination to standard therapy with docetaxel. In addition, blood will be collected for pharmacokinetic analysis.

NCT ID: NCT00800748 Completed - Clinical trials for Hepatitis C, Chronic

A Study of Combination Treatment With Peginterferon Alfa-2a (Pegasys) Plus Ribavirin (Copegus) in Participants With Chronic Hepatitis C

Start date: February 1, 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This 3-arm study assessed the safety and efficacy of combination treatment with peginterferon alfa-2a + ribavirin in participants with chronic hepatitis C. Three groups of participants were studied; 1) those with elevated alanine transaminase (ALT) levels, 2) those with normal ALT levels, and 3) those with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) co-infection. Participants with genotype 1, 4, 5 or 6 received peginterferon alfa-2a 180 micrograms (mcg) subcutaneous (SC) once weekly (qw) + ribavirin 1000-1200 milligrams (mg) orally (PO) daily (dependent on body weight) for 48 weeks. Those with genotype 2 or 3 received peginterferon alfa-2a 180 mcg SC qw + ribavirin 800 mg PO daily for 24 weeks, and all participants with HIV co-infection received peginterferon alfa-2a 180 mcg SC qw + ribavirin 800 mg PO daily for 48 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT00799903 Completed - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

The Stabilization of Atherosclerotic Plaque by Initiation of Darapladib Therapy Trial

STABILITY
Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will test whether darapladib can safely lower the chances of having a cardiovascular event (such as a heart attack or stroke) in people with coronary heart disease.

NCT ID: NCT00798434 Completed - Clinical trials for Urinary Bladder, Overactive

A Study to Compare the Effectiveness and Safety of Fesoterodine and Placebo in an Elderly Population of Patients Who go to the Toilet Very Frequently Due to Overactive Bladder.

SOFIA
Start date: June 2008
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The drug being studied, fesoterodine fumarate helps prevent the bladder neck opening at unwanted times and has been shown to help patients with overactive bladder syndrome pass urine less frequently than before treatment. It is postulated that this drug will also prove effective in elderly patients (aged > 65 years) and that the ability to change dose between 4 and 8mg will allow each patient to have an optimised treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00796718 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

A Study of Xeloda (Capecitabine) Plus Radiotherapy in Patients With Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer

Start date: October 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This single arm study will assess the efficacy and safety of treatment with Xeloda plus standard pelvic radiotherapy in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Eligible patients will receive Xeloda 825mg/m2 po bid plus standard radiotherapy for 5 weeks, followed by surgery within 6 weeks after completion of treatment. The anticipated time on study treatment is < 3 months, and the target sample size is <100 individuals.

NCT ID: NCT00792909 Completed - Clinical trials for Infections, Streptococcal

Vaccination Course in Primed Children and Age-matched Unprimed Children With Pneumococcal Vaccine GSK1024850A

Start date: December 2, 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the immune memory induced by primary and booster vaccination with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine GSK1024850A in the first year of life through evaluation of the immune responses following vaccination with a booster dose of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine GSK1024850A in the fourth year of life and to assess immune responses following vaccination with a single dose of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine GSK1024850A in age-matched unprimed children. The study also aims to assess the antibody persistence in the fourth year of life following primary and booster vaccination with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine GSK1024850A in the first year of life. The study is also designed to evaluate the immunogenicity in terms of antibody response and the safety/reactogenicity in terms of solicited and unsolicited symptoms and serious adverse events following a 2-dose vaccination with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine GSK1024850A in the fourth year of life. This protocol posting deals with objectives & outcome measures of the booster phase. The objectives & outcome measures of the primary phase are presented in a separate protocol posting (NCT number = 00307034)
