The prevalence of malnutrition among the elderly in Asia is high. The objective of this randomized, parallel, placebo controlled, double-blind study is to evaluate the effects of consuming an adult ONS plus dietary counseling (intervention group) for 180 days on nutritional status and unexpected hospital (re)admission, compared with a placebo supplement plus dietary counseling (control group).

Elderly are at greater risk of dietary insufficiency due to age-related increases in nutrient requirements concomitant with a reduction in energy requirements, decreases in appetite and energy intake. Currently there is a gap in knowledge of the factors that are associated with malnutrition in the elderly in Singapore. In addition, there is no "reference" database on anthropometric measurements and biochemical indices for elderly with a range of nutrition status in Singapore. Thus, the objectives of this cross-sectional study are to examine factors influencing nutritional status and to determine the reference values for anthropometric and biochemical measurements related to nutritional status for community-dwelling elderly in Singapore.

The INSIGHT ('Insight into Real-world Practice of Management of HCC in Asia-Pacific') registry is designed as a multi-centre longitudinal cohort study of patients diagnosed with HCC between 1st January 2013 and 31st December 2019 in nine countries (i.e., South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore). Approximately 30% of the sample size will be identified retrospectively and 70% will be identified prospectively from the start date of the registry (October 2016), with an even distribution of consecutively diagnosed patients within the different years.

A Study of LY900014 Formulation at Different Injection Sites in Healthy Participants

This study evaluates a new formulation of insulin lispro, LY900014, a drug that lowers blood sugar. It is administered by injection into the vein and under the skin of the abdomen, thigh and arm. The study will be conducted in healthy people to investigate the effect of different injection sites on the amount of insulin lispro in the bloodstream. Side effects and tolerability will be documented. The study will last for about 10 weeks for each participant, including screening and follow up. Screening is required within 28 days prior to entering the study.

Use of S+Ketamine During Target-Controlled Intravenous Anaesthesia After Abdominal Hysterectomy

The investigators want to investigate the effect of low dose S+ ketamine compared to placebo on cumulative morphine consumption at 24 hours in 90 women undergoing open abdominal hysterectomy with remifentanil-propofol target controlled infusion (TCI) in KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The secondary aims are to investigate the use of low dose S+ ketamine on the incidence of nausea, vomiting, pruritus (opioid side effect), sedation score and psycho mimetic assessment compared to placebo group. The investigators propose to conduct a double blinded, randomized controlled study in women undergoing open abdominal hysterectomy with remifentanil-propofol TCI. (1) Treatment Group: intravenous ketamine 0.5 mg/kg at the beginning and 0.5 mg/kg 20 minutes before extubation. (2) Control Group: intravenous normal saline (as placebo) at the beginning and 20 minutes before extubation.

Investigation of Contact Based Method for Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Disease

In the proposed method of sensing the vital health sign related to cardiovascular diseases, thermal heat transfer performance of the skin will be evaluated using a non-contact based Infra-Red temperature sensor. The temperature of the skin is significantly dependent upon the heat source as blood vessels (veins and capillaries) in the vicinity of the skin. However, there are several locations in the human body, where arteries are also at a relatively less depth from the outer skin surface (radial or ulnar arteries at the wrist and carotid artery in the neck). If it is possible to track the flow of blood from the thermal performance of the skin, then it could be useful in predicting various states of the human health related to cardiovascular activities. Subjects will undergo Existing Procedure EP- Passive Thermography PT for Phase I and Existing Procedure EP- Active Thermography ATLIC/ATPC for Phase II, with Duplex Ultrasound being the existing procedure that is considered as more reliable in clinical practice. Existing Passive Thermography will be used to setup the baseline data for Phase I. The currently under-development temperature mapping method (Active Thermography) that involves application of cooling (either pulsed or lock-in cooling) over the skin will be utilized for Phase II.
