The primary purpose of this study is to establish the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and/or recommended dose for expansion (RDE) of PDR001 when administered in combination with platinum-doublet chemotherapy and other immunooncology agent(s) in treatment naive patients with PD-L1 unselected, advanced NSCLC, and to estimate the preliminary anti-tumor activity in this patient population.
To determine how thyroid status regulates the relationship between brown adipose tissue (BAT) volume/activity, white adipose tissue (WAT) partitioning and basal metabolic rate (BMR) in hyperthyroid patients transitioning to euthyroidism via antithyroid drugs. Implantation of cardiac implantable electronic devices are generally carried out using intermittent intravenous conscious sedation combined with local anaesthesia. The main advantage of this technique is in avoiding the potential risks of general anaesthesia. However, the use of this Sedation - Local Anaesthesia technique is not without complications. Peri -procedural hypoxaemia and hypotension are well recognised complications of this technique. The pectoral nerves (Pecs) blocks are novel techniques to block the pectoral, intercostobrachial, third to sixth intercostals, and the long thoracic nerves. PECS block targets the lateral and median pectoral nerves at an interfascial plane between the pectoralis major and minor muscles. A case report by Fujiwara et al has described the use of this technique to provide good analgesia during and after these implantation procedures surgery. Pectoral nerves block along with minimal sedation has been used as a safe technique in our local set up as well. Hence, we propose a randomized, single center, controlled trial on patients undergoing cardiac implantable electronic device implantation with local anaesthesia and sedation with and without Pectoral Nerve Block.
This is a study in adults with chronic heart failure. People with chronic heart failure may need to be hospitalised for their condition. Some people with chronic heart failure may eventually die from their condition. The purpose of the study is to find out whether a medicine called empagliflozin lowers the chances of patients having to go to hospital for heart failure and whether it improves their survival. The study is open to patients with a type of chronic heart failure called chronic heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Participants stay in the study until researchers have enough information about how effective empagliflozin is. It is expected that participants who enter at the very beginning of the enrolment period may be in the study for over 3 years, while participants who enter near the end of the enrolment period may be in the study for less than 2 years. The participants are put into 2 groups. It is decided by chance who gets into which group. One group gets empagliflozin tablets every day and the other group gets placebo tablets every day. Placebo tablets look like empagliflozin tablets but contain no medicine. Participants visit the doctors regularly. During these visits, the doctors collect information about the participant's health. The doctors want to know how many patients had to go to hospital because of heart failure or who died from cardiovascular disease.
Study assessing the efficacy and safety of alpelisib plus fulvestrant or letrozole, based on prior endocrine therapy, in patients with hormone receptor (HR) positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer (aBC), harboring PIK3CA mutations, who have progressed on or after prior treatments.
This is a multi-center, open-label, phase II study of durvalumab in combination with lenalidomide for treatment of relapsed/refractory NK/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL). The study will employ a 2-stage Simon Optimal design with 80% power and type 1 error rate (significance level) of 5%. Stage 1 will involve 8 patients and will require at least 2 patients to achieve the primary end point of overall response in order to proceed onto to stage 2, which will have a target enrolment of 14 patients.
Coronary fraction flow reserve (FFR), the ratio of the mean coronary pressure distal to a coronary stenosis to the mean aortic pressure during maximal coronary blood flow (hyperemia), defines the hemodynamic significance of coronary artery narrowing. Noninvasive assessment of FFR via a combination of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and coronary CT angiography CCTA (the so-called FFRCT) has potential. Coronary computed tomographic angiography is a noninvasive test for diagnosis of anatomic coronary stenosis (i.e., narrowing of a blood vessel). A new analytical model of FFR from the general Bernoulli equation (conservation of energy) (FFRB) is simple and has potential. A collaborator group has recently developed a new analytical model to quantify pressure drop, and hence FFR, based on lesion dimensions (i.e., the cross-section area along the lesion and the length of lesion) and coronary flow, with no empirical parameters. The investigators hypothesize that this new model will allow quantification of FFR (FFRB) in a cohort of human patients with intermediate coronary stenosis. The study will compare FFRB with invasive FFR measurements from invasive coronary angiography (ICAG).
