This is a First in Human (FIH), double-blinded, parallel-group, randomised, placebo-controlled study designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, PK and PD of single and multiple ascending oral doses of GS-248 in healthy subjects.
DISCOVER CKD is an international observational cohort study in patients with CKD, comprising both prospective and retrospective patient cohorts. The study does not attempt to test any specific a priori hypotheses, is largely descriptive, and utilises data collected only under conditions of routine clinical care.
This study looks into how the type 2 diabetes medicine, semaglutide, can prevent risk of heart disease complications and stroke. Participants will either get semaglutide or placebo ("dummy" medicine) - which treatment is decided by chance. Semaglutide is a new medicine to treat type 2 diabetes and can be prescribed by doctors in some countries. The study medicine will be in a pen, and must be injected with a needle in the stomach, thigh or upper arm once a week. The study will last for 57-63 weeks. Participants will have 10 clinic visits with the study doctor, 5 visits to the specialised clinic for imaging and at least 1 phone contact. Participants' health will be monitored carefully and blood samples will therefore be taken at the clinic visits. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to become pregnant during the study period.
The aim of this study is to determine if virologically suppressed Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Type 1 infected adults on a current antiretroviral regimen (CAR) (including 2 nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors [NRTIs] plus a third agent) remain suppressed upon switching to dolutegravir/lamivudine (DTG/3TC) fixed dose combination (FDC). The main objective of the study is to demonstrate the non-inferior antiviral activity of switching to DTG/3TC FDC once daily compared to continuation of CAR over 48 weeks in virologically suppressed adults living with HIV-1. The study will also evaluate information regarding the safety and health related quality of life. The study will include Screening Phase (up to 28 days), a Randomization Phase (up to Week 52) and a Continuation Phase (post Week 52). The Continuation Phase is not applicable for participants in Sweden and Denmark. Approximately 490 participants will be randomized in 1:1 ratio to receive DTG/3TC FDC once daily for up to 52 weeks or continue their CAR for 52 weeks. Participants in the DTG/3TC FDC arm who successfully complete up to 52 weeks of treatment will have the opportunity to continue receiving DTG/3TC FDC once daily in Continuation Phase.

The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a 3-dose schedule (2-dose primary series followed by a toddler dose) of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) as one of the currently recommended schedules by the World Health Organization (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunizations and practiced in many countries. The primary hypotheses are that V114 is non-inferior to Prevenar 13™ for the 13 shared serotypes based on response rates and on anti-pneumococcal polysaccharide (PnPs) serotype-specific Immunoglobulin G (IgG) geometric mean concentrations (GMCs) at 30 days following Dose 3; that V114 is superior to Prevenar 13™ for the 2 serotypes unique to V114 based on the response rates and on anti-PnPs serotype-specific IgG GMCs at 30 days following Dose 3; and that Vaxelis™ administered concomitantly with V114 is non-inferior to Vaxelis™ administered concomitantly with Prevenar 13™ at 30 days following Dose 3 for each antigen included in Vaxelis™.
Abstract Aim: The primary aim of this study is to test whether or not cement residues in the submucosal environment of implants lead to a change in the microbiota and induce inflammation of the periimplant tissues. Material and Methods: 24 patients in need of a single tooth replacement will be enrolled in this cross-over controlled clinical study. All patients will receive a two-piece dental implant, which will be restored with both a cemented and a screw-retained single crown. At the time of impression taking, patients will be randomized into two groups. Patients in group A will receive a screw-retained crown. Every 8 weeks microbiological samples using sterile paper points will be collected and analyzed for bacterial content by real-time PCR. Additionally, two host markers (MMP8, IL-1ß) will be determined by ELISA. Following this first period of 16 weeks, the screw-retained crown will be replaced by a new intraorally cemented crown. Cement removal will be preformed according to best clinical procedure. These crowns will again be left for another period of 16 weeks and followed up for the harvesting of microbiological samples every 8 weeks. After the second 16-week the crowns will be removed to evaluate any excess cement. All patients will be fitted with the original screw-retained crown. Clinical parameters for inflammation and probing depths will be obtained after each 16 week-period. In group B the crowns will be incorporated in a reverse pattern. During the first 16 weeks any possible cement residues will be removed according to best clinical procedure, while for the second period of 16 weeks patients will be fitted with a screw-retained single crown. Again, microbiological and clinical parameters will be obtained at the same intervals as in Group A. After the second 16 week period the screw-retained crowns will be (re-) inserted in all patients, single tooth x-rays taken and clinical baseline values obtained. Additionally, a soft tissue biopsy will be harvested at the time of insertion of the final screw-retained crown. Patients will be followed up for another 16-week period.

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how well aflibercept works in babies with ROP, comparing it with laser therapy. The study also has the objective to demonstrate how safe aflibercept is when used in babies, and describe how the drug moves into, through and out of the body.
The emerging crisis of multidrug-resistant bacteria is accelerated by a massive overuse and misuse of antibiotics. It has been estimated that 50% of antibiotic prescriptions are inappropriate. Antibiotic interventions to improve prescribing patterns have been successfully implemented in primary care in Sweden and other countries. However, much of the last-resort antibiotics are used in hospitals in which decisions on therapy for bacterial infections are more complex. In this project we will explore the appropriateness of antibiotic prescribing in a hospital setting and measures to improve the quality of antimicrobial therapy. Antimicrobial stewardship interventions will be conducted at selected hospital departments using prospective audit and feedback in a multifaceted and cross-disciplinary approach. The intervention effects on antibiotic consumption, appropriateness of prescriptions, patient outcome and emergence of resistance will be evaluated, and a financial cost-effectiveness analysis will be performed.
