There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The overall aim of the study is to evaluate if remote video exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (exCR), offered as an alternative to centre-based exCR, can increase participation in exCR sessions post myocardial infarction (MI).
The aim of this study is to determine how inflammatory resolution impacts cardiometabolic health and disease in subjects that are either lean (18.5-24.9 kg/m2), overweight (25.0-29.9 kg/m2) or obese (>30.0 kg/m2).
The study investigates whether the addition of resolution molecules can inhibit inflammation and insulin resistance in human tissue taken from obese individuals, and whether the results of these studies correlate with patient-specific resolution phenotypes.
This study focuses on the treatment for complicated diverticulitis classified as Hinchey I-IV. The aim of this prospective observational study is to evaluate type of treatment and the success rate of treatment in acute complicated diverticulitis (ACD) at participating hospitals in Sweden and Norway. Furthermore, the effects on quality of life for this patient group will be evaluated.
Background: Circle of Security-Parenting is a parental support program that provides basic knowledge about the emotional needs of children up to 6 years old and is illustrated graphically based on a circle model. It is designed to be given in group and includes 8 sessions of 90 minutes each. COS-P is regularly offered as a parent support intervention within the Psychology units for Maternal and Child health care in Södra Älvsborg and Fyrbodal with the aim of increasing the quality of the parent-child relationship. Objective: Prior to a planned RCT study, clarify which inclusion criterias are used for the COS-P intervention within the two psychology units, which parents accept and complete the study and investigate change in self-assessed depression, anxiety and stress level in the parent, the parent's reflective ability and symptoms in the child estimated by the parent. Method: The parents who participate in the planned COS-P groups within the two units in spring/autumn of 2020 will fill in surveys before group start, at the end of intervention and 6-months follow up. Change between baseline and posttest as well as between baseline and 6-month follow-up will be analyzed. The psychologists will fill in specially formulated questionnaires regarding their inclusion criterias. Expected result: This pilot study is expected to describe the group of parents receiving COS-P and the inclusion criterias for the intervention used by the psychologists in the Psychology units for Maternal and Child health care in Södra Älvsborg and Fyrbodal.
This prospective observational study aims to describe the outcome for patients with persistent or chronic critical illness treated at Remeo, a clinic specialized for patients in need of prolonged intensive care and intensive care rehabilitation in Sweden. Patients' disease characteristics and the treatment in multidisciplinary patient centered teams for intensive care, weaning from mechanical ventilation and simultaneous rehabilitation will be described. Patients will be followed one year after discharge to document health related quality of life, physical function, frailty, mental illness and used health care resources.
Gliomas are the most common malignant brain tumor. Glioblastoma, WHO grade IV astrocytoma, is the most common subtype and unfortunately also the most aggressive subtype with median survival in population based cohorts being only 10 months. Extensive surgical resections followed by postoperative fractioned radiotherapy and concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide prolong survival and is the standard treatment. The investigators think there is significant potential in individualized surgical decision-making in glioblastoma management. The idea that some patients are amendable to radical surgery, while others should be treated more conservatively, is not controversial in other fields of oncology. The current concept in all patients with glioblastoma is "maximum safe resection of the contrast enhancing tumor", but this may in selected cases be extended to simply "maximum safe resection" tailored to the patient and extent of disease at hand. Densely proliferating tumor cells have been found from at an average of 10 mm beyond the margins of contrast enhancement in high-grade gliomas. There are now several case series, using various definitions of supramarginal resection, but they have in common that they report a benefit of resection with a margin. This potential benefit also comes together with an associated neurological risk, making this approach unethical and simply not feasible in the patients with glioblastoma as a whole. Objective of this study is: To investigate if resection with a margin, that is significantly beyond the radiological contrast enhancement, improves survival in selected patients with glioblastoma.
This prospective observational study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and acceptability of percutaneous or vaginal ultrasound guided microwave ablation for the treatment of symptoms related to uterine fibroids. We will include 200 women.
Current clinical protocols for blood sampling and analyses in extremely preterm infants rely on an infrastructure adapted to and developed for adult medicine. Excessive blood sampling volumes and the resulting loss of fetal blood components are related to neonatal morbidity. This randomised trial aims to provide evidence that preservation of blood using micro-methods results in decreased morbidity and increased quality of life in extremely preterm infants.
Persons affected by psychosis have a shorter life expectancy mainly due to metabolic disorders. This is partly due to the drugs but also to a sedentary life style. It is often a life long disorder with decreased overall function and thus need of life long care, both informal and formal. It is also a highly stigmatising disorder. We are aiming at adding peer mentor led regular physical exercise to the open care of psychosis. it is well-known that physical exercise increase overall function, decrease metabolic risk factors and increase cognition. By using educated peer mentors who will lead the exercise sessions this will have an anti-stigmatising effect and improve self-confidence.
