NCT ID: NCT00949286 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Action in Diabetes and Vascular Disease Preterax and Diamicron MR Controlled Evaluation Post Trial Observational Study

ADVANCE-ON
Start date: January 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The study is designed to determine the long term, post trial effects of the two interventions studied in ADVANCE (routine blood pressure lowering with perindopril-indapamide as compared with placebo and intensive gliclazide-MR based glucose control as compared to standard guideline based glucose control) in individuals with type 2 diabetes at high risk of cardiovascular events. The long term, post randomization effects of the two study interventions will be investigated separately as they were for the main trial. This study will clarify and quantify the long-term, post trial (often referred to as legacy) effects of these two interventions in a broader population of patients with type 2 diabetes from high and low to middle income countries, and in the setting of comprehensive cardiovascular risk factor treatment. With the ADVANCE trial infrastructure and surveillance system already in place, the implementation of extended follow-up will be feasible. The conclusions of this follow up study will have profound clinical implications for the care of patients with type 2 diabetes around the world.

NCT ID: NCT00947531 Completed - Vascular Dementia Clinical Trials

A Clinical Trial to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of 20 ml Cerebrolysin in Patients With Vascular Dementia

VascDem
Start date: October 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This clinical trial was performed to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of two 4 week treatment courses of daily intravenous administration of Cerebrolysin (20mL [milliliter] IV [intravenous] per day). The study was performed as prospective, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group, multicentre study with 2 study groups. Group 1: 20 mL Cerebrolysin and 100 mg (milligram) acetylsalicylic acid Group 2: Placebo (0.9% NaCl [sodium chloride]) and 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid The study drug was given once daily by intravenous infusion (20ml in 250ml saline solution) for 4 weeks on five consecutive days per week. This treatment regimen was repeated after a two-month treatment-free interval. Acetylsalicylic acid was given orally, once daily throughout the study duration of 24 weeks. Altogether five clinical evaluation visits at Baseline (day 0) and at week 4, 12, 16, and 24 were necessary.

NCT ID: NCT00946920 Completed - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

A Trial of Degarelix in Patients With Prostate Cancer

Start date: June 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

A phase 3, open-label, parallel group, one year trial comparing the efficacy and safety of degarelix 3-month depot with the established therapy goserelin acetate 3-month implant in patients with prostate cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00945945 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis Knee Pain

A Study of Duloxetine in Patients With Osteoarthritis Knee Pain

Start date: July 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary purpose of this study is to determine if duloxetine 60 mg once daily (QD) reduces pain severity in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) knee pain compared with placebo.

NCT ID: NCT00943826 Completed - Glioblastoma Clinical Trials

A Study of Bevacizumab (Avastin®) in Combination With Temozolomide and Radiotherapy in Participants With Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma

Start date: June 29, 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This 2 arm study investigated the efficacy and safety of the addition of bevacizumab to the current standard of care (multimodality therapy of concurrent radiotherapy plus temozolomide followed by adjuvant temozolomide) as compared to the current standard of care alone. Participants were randomly assigned to either the bevacizumab (10 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) intravenously [IV] once every 2 week [q2w]) or the placebo arm, in combination with radiation therapy (total dose 60 Gray [Gy], administered as 2 Gy fractions, 5 days/week) plus temozolomide (75 milligrams per meter squared [mg/m^2] oral administration [po] daily) for 6 weeks. After a 4 week treatment break, participants continued to receive bevacizumab (10 mg/kg IV q2w) or placebo, plus temozolomide (150-200 mg/m^2 po daily on days 1-5 of each 4 week cycle) for 6 cycles of maintenance treatment or until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity, whichever occured first. Following the maintenance phase, bevacizumab (15 mg/kg iv every 3 weeks [q3w]) or placebo monotherapy continued. The time on study treatment was until disease progression.

NCT ID: NCT00941616 Completed - Clinical trials for Von Willebrand Disease

Study of a pd VWF/FVIII Concentrate, Biostate®, in Subjects With Von Willebrand Disease

Start date: June 2009
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to assess the pharmacokinetics (PK), efficacy, and safety of Biostate® in subjects with Von Willebrand Disease (VWD). Pharmacokinetic Component: PK parameters will be determined from a subgroup of subjects. Subjects who complete the PK component will subsequently continue in the efficacy component of the study, either continuing on a previously established prophylaxis regimen or continuing to receive on-demand treatment with the occurrence of non-surgical bleeding (NSB) events. Efficacy Component: Three treatment arms are defined for the efficacy component of the study. (1) Subjects who are currently being treated on a set prophylaxis regimen with a VWF product at the time of study entry will be enrolled in the "Prophylaxis" arm. (2) Subjects not being treated on a set prophylaxis regimen at the time of study entry who require a VWF product for the treatment of NSB events will be enrolled in the "On-demand" arm and commence using Biostate in the treatment of NSB events. (3) Subjects enrolled in the "On-demand" arm have the possibility to enter the "Cross-over to Prophylaxis" arm to receive an additional 12 months of prophylactic treatment.
