The BEACON Study (Breast Cancer Outcomes With NKTR-102)

The study is designed as an open-label, randomized, parallel, two arm, multicenter, international Phase 3 study in patients with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer previously treated with cytotoxic chemotherapy regimens. The primary study objective is to compare overall survival of patients who receive NKTR-102 given once every 21 days to patients who receive treatment of Physician's Choice selected from a list of seven single-agent intravenous therapies.

Each patient will be enrolled and stratified in one of three cohorts based upon their first-line therapy: 1) prior cytokines, 2) prior sunitinib, or 3) prior anti-VEGF therapy other than sunitinib.

The study is being done to determine if Nexagon® plus standard of care is more effective than placebo plus standard of care. Standard of care will include debridement of the ulcer, standardized dressings and standardized off-loading using a Removable Cast Walker.

These negative symptoms and cognitive deficits have a devastating impact on the function, employment, and social interactions of patients with schizophrenia. Medications used to treat schizophrenia (e.g. atypical antipsychotics) do not improve negative symptoms or CDS. TC-5619 is being developed for use as an add-on therapy in combination with atypical antipsychotics to treat patients with negative symptoms and CDS.
