Therapeutic plasma exchange is widely performed in patients with autoimmune disease. The exact effects of fresh frozen plasma on coagulation in this group of patients remains unknown. In order to investigate this issue the present study monitors periprocedural coagulation status with the aid of standard coagulation tests and rotational thromboelastometry. Four thromboelastometric tests will be performed: ExTEM, InTEM, FibTEM and ApTEM. The following parameters will be recorded from each test: CT (sec), CFT (sec) and MCF (mm) one hour before and one hour after plasmaechange was performed.
Major liver surgery is associated with increased incidence of perioperative complications and increased mortality if these are not addressed quickly in a high dependency intensive care unit. Of these, posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) represents one of the most important cause of postoperative unfavourable outcome. The present study investigates the correlation between lactate levels and PHLF. Lactate levels were collected at six specific timepoints: preoperative, pre-dissection phase, post-dissection phase, end of surgery and 24-hours and 48-hours in the postoperative period.
Hemoadsorption has been demonstrated to improve liver functional tests in patients with liver failure. The present study investigates the effects of three consecutive sessions of hemoadsorption, performed in accordance to the local protocol for treating patients with acute liver failure, on liver functional tests, severity scores and 30-days mortality. Paraclinical results and severity scores were obtained before and after the three consecutive sessions.
This is a study in adults who had a heart attack (myocardial infarction). The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called empagliflozin helps to lower the chances of having to go to the hospital for heart failure and whether it lowers the chances of dying from cardiovascular disease. People who are in hospital may join the study soon after being treated for their heart attack. Participants are put into 2 groups by chance. One group takes 1 empagliflozin tablet a day. The other group takes 1 placebo tablet a day. Placebo tablets look like empagliflozin tablets but do not contain any medicine. All participants continue their standard treatment. Empagliflozin belongs to a class of medicines known as SGLT-2 inhibitors. Empagliflozin is a medicine that helps people with type 2 diabetes to lower their blood sugar. Researchers think that empagliflozin might also help people after heart attack who are at risk for heart failure, whether or not they have diabetes. Participants are in the study for about 1 to 2 years. During this time, there are about 4 visits inperson, 2 visits are done either by phone or by use of an mobile application. Results between the empagliflozin and placebo groups are compared. The doctors also regularly check the general health of the participants.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is effective in decreasing the level of autoantibodies of patients with autoimmune thyroiditis. The investigators hypothesize that processing traumatic memories from events that happened before the illness onset will have a positive impact first on the psyche (a) by decreasing the level of dissociation, alexithymia, anger, and (b) by increasing the quality of life and emotional regulation, than those in the control group. Secondly, it will have an impact on the biological level, by decreasing the level of autoantibodies, antithyroglobulin antibody (anti-Tg) and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (anti-TPO), which are the main antibodies detected in chronic autoimmune thyroiditis.

This randomized clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of changing eating behavior using cognitive training. These types of interventions have the role of creating new routines (unconsciously processed), in terms of healthy eating behaviors.
Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a significant worldwide medical problem. GSK3228836 demonstrated target engagement in CHB participants who were not on treatment and in CHB participants on stable nucleos(t)ide therapy. This study is intended to evaluate if treatment with GSK3228836 can achieve sustained virologic response (SVR), that is hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) less than (<) lower limit of quantitation (LLOQ) and HBV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) <LLOQ sustained for 24 weeks post-GSK3228836 treatment end. In addition, the study will also evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of GSK3228836 in the 4 dosing regimens. This study will assess the efficacy and safety of treatment with GSK3228836 in two populations of participants with CHB; participants on stable nucleos(t)ide treatment (Cohort 1) and participants who are not currently on nucleos(t)ide therapy (Cohort 2). For each population, participants will be randomized into one of the 4 different parallel arms to receive treatment. The study will consist of a screening, treatment, and post-treatment follow-up phase. Approximately, 440 participants will be enrolled in the study.
