There are about 3194 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Portugal. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study will evaluate and compare two individualized ranibizumab treatment regimens in patients with neovascular (wet) AMD aiming to achieve and to maintain a maximum visual function benefit, while aiming to avoid unnecessary intravitreal injections. The results will be used to generate further recommendations on functional and anatomical monitoring of the disease and timing of treatment administration for patients with neovascular AMD. In this context, the study will investigate the utility of optical coherence tomography (OCT) to aid retreatment decisions with ranibizumab.
The objective of the study is to investigate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of linagliptin 5 mg qd compared to placebo given for 24 weeks in inadequately controlled T2DM patients on empagliflozin 10 mg or 25 mg and maximum tolerated dose of metformin. The primary objective of efficacy evaluation is planned after 24 weeks of treatment. The study is designed to show superiority of the combination of empagliflozin and linagliptin over empagliflozin alone.
Cystoid macular edema (CME) is a common cause of vision loss after cataract surgery. In the last few years, several new treatments have been tried to address the problem of CME after cataract surgery in diabetic and non-diabetic patients. The investigators will perform a large RCT with the aim to provide more definite evidence-based recommendations for clinical guidelines to prevent the occurrence of CME after cataract surgery in patients with and without diabetes mellitus (DM).
The objective of this study is to gather data to establish the chronic safety, performance and effectiveness of the RELIANCE 4-FRONT™ Active Fixation Defibrillation Leads.
An observational cross-sectional study will include 750 individuals of all ages, divided in 4 groups: 1) Patients with a self-reported diagnosis of asthma alone (n=150), 2) Patients with a self-reported diagnosis of rhinitis alone (n=150), 3) Patients with a self-reported diagnosis of asthma and rhinitis (n=150) and 4) Patients with no history of respiratory symptoms or diseases (n=300)
The purpose of this study is to determine if water and diet soft drinks with different levels of sweeteners have the same effect on thirst.
POLARIS : A non-interventional study in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) with central involvement to assess the effectiveness of existing anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment regimens.
This study will provide efficacy and safety data of the secukinumab pre-filled syringe (PFS) for subcutaneous self-administration in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who are intolerant to or have had an inadequate response to anti-TNF-α agents.
The purpose of this study is to determine if water and three different sugary beverages (milk, Orange juice and iced tea) have the same effect on thirst.
Reduced plasma nitrate (NOx) levels and increased urinary norepinephrine (U-NE) levels have been described in severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and are reverted by continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). The investigators wanted to know the effect of CPAP on these biomarkers in mild-moderate OSA.
