Effects of Pilates Exercises Versus Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercises Among Elderly Women With Urinary Incontinence

To compare the effects of Pilates exercises versus pelvic floor muscle exercises among elderly women with urinary incontinence. The study is a single-blinded randomized clinical trial. 70 patients(calculated through PASS version 15 software) will be selected. Subjects will be screened whether they met inclusion and exclusion criteria. The participants for this study will be elderly women with urinary incontinence. The participants will be recruited from SIPMR and Civil hospital Karachi. The initial assessment will be done by Medical Consultant. Patients must fulfill inclusion criteria. Consent must be taken from each patient and samples will be collected in the given time frame and patients will be randomly assigned(through a randomization sheet) to the treatment groups. Treatment group 1 will be doing Pilates exercises and treatment group 2 will be doing Pelvic floor muscle exercises. EMS will be given to both treatment groups. A voiding diary, Stamey's urinary incontinence system, and IQOL questionnaire will be used at baseline assessment and at the end of treatment sessions. 12 treatment sessions will be given, 3 visits each week for 4 weeks. The data will be analyzed on SPSS version 21. : Non-probability purposive sampling technique will be used for selecting individuals. Percentages and frequencies will be calculated for categorical variables and parametric and nonparametric tests will be applied.

Comparative Effects of Gongs Mobilization and Scapular Mobilization on Adhesive Capsulitis

Adhesive Capsulitis also known as frozen shoulder is a self-limiting disorder of the shoulder joint characterized by pain, loss of joint ROM and functional limitation which usually resolves in 12-15 months. I Different physical therapy techniques and modalities have been used in reducing pain and increasing ROM in frozen shoulder. It is a randomized clinical trial and random sampling was used with an inclusion criterion of confirmed adhesive capsulitis patients. This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of two mobilizations: Gongs and Scapular mobilization in terms of effects on pain, range of motion and functional status. Patients having acute inflammation, fracture, dislocation or any surgery around the shoulder joint were excluded from the study. Subjects were randomly allocated into two groups with group A receiving Gongs mobilization and group B receiving scapular mobilization in addition to Continuous passive motion which was given as a baseline therapy to both the groups. Total duration of the study was 6 months. Numeric pain rating scale, universal goniometry and Shoulder pain and disability index were used to measure the pain, range of motion and functionality respectively at the start and end of study. After collecting data from defined study setting, data was entered and analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows software, version 25. After assessing normality of data by Shapiro-Wilk test, it was decided either parametric or non-parametric test to be used.

Effects of Visual Biofeedback Therapy in Parkinson's Patients

Parkinson's disease (PD) affects approximately 6.5 million people around the world and it is ranked as the second most common age-related neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer disease. US have reported 800,000 PD patients in 2016, the highest number of reported PD patients in the world while UK has the lowest number of PD cases i.e. 100,000. With a rise of 2.3 million cases in 2026, an approximate annual growth rate of 2.52% is predicted globally. According to Pakistan Parkinson's society, approximately 450,000 Pakistanis were affected with PD. The age-specific prevalence of PD in Pakistan was found to be high in 70 to 79 years of age with males being more affected as compared to females. Parkinson's disease is a neurological condition, characterized by tremors, rigidity, and stiffness in the body, along with bradykinesia, walking and balance problems. Poor balance is one of the major and most disabling characteristics among Parkinson patients. Freezing of gait (FOG) and postural instability is one of the major cause of fall and loss of independence among PD patients whereas cognitive dysfunction is one of the common non-motor symptoms affecting 20 to 57% of PD patients. Among recent technological advancements in neurological physical therapy, virtual reality (VR) games have become an area of interest for researchers. Despite advances in the rehabilitation of PD, evidence regarding the effects of visual biofeedback therapy on Parkinson patients is still scarce. Only few studies have studied the effects of visual biofeedback therapy on balance in PD patients, but as per knowledge of the researcher there is no study published on effects of visual biofeedback therapy on FOG and cognition among Parkinson patients in Pakistan. Therefore, the present study is aimed to assess the effects of biofeedback balance training using a balance board on balance, FOG and cognition in patients with Parkinson disease.

Effect of Myofascial Release of Subscapularis Along With Shoulder Mobilization in Adhesive Capsulitis

This randomized control trial aims to compare the effect of myofascial release of subscapularis along with shoulder mobilization VS mobilization alone among patients with adhesive capsulitis. The study will be conducted at physiotherapy outpatient department (OPD) of Sindh Institute of physical medicine and rehabilitation, and Dow University Ojha Campus, Karachi. According to study criteria, 70 patients with sub-acute adhesive capsulitis will be selected through a non-randomized purposive sampling technique by a consultant physician. After taking informed consent, participants will be randomly divided into 2 groups through the sealed envelope method. Both the groups will receive conventional treatment while Group 1 will be given an additional treatment of myofascial release of subscapularis through ischemic compression technique. Total 6 treatment sessions will be provided and assessment will be done at baseline and end of the 6th session.

This study will examine the effects of higher secondary school-based suicide prevention (HSSSP) program on youth suicidal thoughts and impulsive behavior (STIB). Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effects of didactic approach for youth STIB on the HSSSP program. This study is designed to address this issue at the secondary school level. Therefore, this research is divided into two studies. In the first study, our goal was to arrange a Baseline assessment for the screening process of adolescents at risk of suicide. while in second study we aim to implement a didactic approach based on religious teachings and culture milieu and examine its effects as an evidence based suicide prevention program.

Bupivicain vs Bupivicain Plus Dexamethasone in ESP Block for Post-op Analgesia

Thoracotomy is a very painful procedure. Different treatment modalities are being utilized for post-thoracotomy analgesia including I/V NSAID, Opoids and Neuropathic medications. Other techniques commonly utilized include Thoracic epidural, Paravertebral block; but both are associated with significant failure rate and other complications. Ultrasound guided Erector Spinae Plane block is a new regional anesthesia technique that provides analgesia at multidermatomal levels acriss the posterior, lateral and anterior thoracic walls. The rational of my study is that it is a novel technique and studies with bupivicain alone are present but no study was found with bupivicain plus dexamethasone.
