Feasibility Study on the Impact of Economic Incentives to Improve the Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

This feasibility study aims to compare the implementation process of three different interventions that use economic incentives to promote lifestyle behavioral changes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to identify barriers and facilitators linked to the process of implementing each of the interventions. The interventions are based on economic incentives directed to the patient (individual incentives) or a team comprised by the patient and a partner (mixed incentives). Design: Three-month randomized control feasibility study to test the feasibility of implementing three types of intervention with economic incentives in patients with diabetes mellitus. Setting: Diabetes outpatient clinics from a public hospital in Peru.

Zika in Infants and Pregnancy (ZIP)

The overall objective of this multisite, multicountry Zika in Infants and Pregnancy (ZIP) study is to assess the strength of the association between Zika virus infection (ZIKV) during pregnancy and adverse maternal/fetal outcomes and the risk of vertical transmission. The study will prospectively enroll a cohort of pregnant women up to 17 weeks and 6 days gestation and subjects at any gestational age with acute Zika infection, confirmed by serology or PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test. The study will follow these women through their pregnancy to identify for clinical evidence of acute ZIKV, while controlling for potential confounders. Outcomes in the women, the developing fetus, and infants will be assessed. All protocol-specified data will be recorded and entered in a central data management system for the purposes of analysis of composite data from the study.

An Efficacy, Safety, and Tolerability Study Comparing Dolutegravir (DTG) Plus Lamivudine (3TC) With Dolutegravir Plus Tenofovir/Emtricitabine in Treatment naïve HIV Infected Participants (Gemini 2)

This study will compare safety, efficacy, and tolerability of a two drug regimen of dolutegravir (DTG) plus (+) lamivudine (3TC) administered once daily with DTG plus two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate [TDF]/emtricitabine [FTC] fixed dose combination [FDC]) administered once daily in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) 1 infected adult participants that have not previously received antiretroviral therapy. The study is designed to demonstrate the non inferior antiviral activity of DTG + 3TC regimen to that of DTG + TDF/FTC FDC and will characterise the long term antiviral activity, tolerability and safety of DTG plus 3TC through Week 148. Approximately, 700 participants will be randomised 1:1 to receive DTG + 3TC or DTG + TDF/FTC FDC. Participants will be stratified by screening HIV 1 ribonucleotide nucleic acid (RNA) levels and by screening CD4+ (cluster of differentiation 4) cell count.

The purpose of this study is to test two innovative devices, the CryoPen® and thermocoagulator, against gas-based cryotherapy to determine whether the novel devices produce equivalent or improved destruction of cervical tissue compared to gas-based cryotherapy. Tissue destruction with single freeze versus double freeze treatments with the CryoPen and gas-based cryotherapy will also be compared.
