There are about 5161 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Norway. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The ATLET study will assess the effect of manual or robotic body-weight supported locomotor training of patients with stable motor incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI) on gait and overall ADL function as well as on estimated health care costs.
Thesis: Is drug-induced anticholinergic activity additive resulting in a total anticholinergic load causing harmful side effects in old, fragile patients? Is it possible to reduce the anticholinergic load by multidisciplinary medical review including a pharmacist and a physician? The effects of the medical reviews are measured by cognitive tests (MMS and CERADS word lists), a measure of mouth dryness, serum levels of anticholinergic activity, activity of daily living and neuropsychiatric symptoms. Design: A randomized, controlled, single blinded interventional study in Norwegian nursing homes.
The study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of both aliskiren monotherapy and aliskiren/enalapril combination therapy as compared to enalapril monotherapy, on morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic heart failure (NYHA Class II - IV.
The purpose of this study is to compare treatment benefits from surgical treatment by tendon repair and from physiotherapy for small and medium-sized rotator cuff tears.
A randomized multi-center study comparing the effect of dasatinib and imatinib on malignant stem cells in newly diagnosed chronic phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. The research hypothesis is that treatment with dasatinib 100 mg daily (QD) results in greater and more rapid depletion of the Philadelphia (Ph) -positive stem cell pool within 6 months of therapy than imatinib 400 mg QD in newly diagnosed CML patients. The study duration is 18 months and approximately 40 patients will be recruited to the study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the contents in blood sampled from surgery site during hip replacement compared with blood sampled from abdominal aortic surgery. Is there any difference in pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1beta, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α), complement activation (C3a)?
Actinic cheilitis is a common precancerous lesion of the lip. The purpose of this study is to compare imiquimod 5% therapy and photodynamic therapy. The data will include effect data, histology (skin analysis), epidemiological data and follow-up data.
The purpose of this study is to study factors (drugs, serum concentration of drugs, nutrition, physical activity, demographics, diseases etc.) related to constipation and diarrhea in nursing homes, and the effect of different laxative regimens.
The circadian system with its centre in the hypothalamus is involved in migraine pathophysiology. Whether it plays a pivotal role is not clarified. The investigators postulate that a destabilized circadian system may increase migraine attack susceptibility, and that stabilization by supplying melatonin a migraine preventive effect will be achieved. A previous open label study has shown effects that certainly warrant a placebo controlled study.
Based on pilot patient observations, the investigators anticipate that chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients may benefit from B-cell depletion therapy. The hypothesis is that at least a subset of CFS patients have an activated immune system involving B-lymphocytes, and that B-cell depletion may alleviate symptoms.
