In this study the impact of two CE marked and FDA approved sternal needles in comparison to intravenous access on the flow-rate of autologous reinfusion of whole blood and the possible hemolysis of red cells post-transfusion in a population of healthy military officers is investigated.

The trial "The stop-GIST trial" is an Oslo University Hospital sponsored, prospective, open-label, 1-group, multicenter phase II trial evaluating discontinuation of imatinib in highly selected patients treated with imatinib longer than 5 years for oligo-metastatic GIST (≤ 3 metastases) and who have no detectable overt GIST lesions on CT/MRI imaging following complete surgical resection (R0/R1-resection) or radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the metastases.

In this study we want to test if a group of people with positive score on a self-reported questionnaire and/or high-risk score in a risk scoring system (NORRISK) have more undetected heart diseases than a control group with no reported or detected risk factors.
Dose-painting may increase the chance of cure at minimised radiation-induced toxicity in intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for primary head and neck cancer. This could also apply for recurrent and second primary head and neck cancers in previously irradiated volumes. This trial (RIDPAINT) investigates the feasibility of FDG-PET guided radiotherapy using IMRT dose-painting by contours for patients with recurrent and second primary head and neck cancer.
This study evaluate the additional effect of adding chemotherapy prior to resection of a pancreatic head malignancy. The patients will be randomized into two groups; surgery first (control group) and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (intervention). Primary endpoint is overall survival after resection
In this randomized controlled trial the investigators will compare the results after primary anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using two different methods for femoral fixation of a bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) autograft. Interference screws have been the standard method for fixing the femoral side of BPTB grafts; however, several pitfalls have been reported. Cortical fixation with the Endobutton CL BTB Fixation System has become available and the clinical results have been described as promising; however, no randomized controlled trials comparing these two femoral fixation methods have been conducted, and there is no published data that confirms that the bone block heals in the tunnel with the newer method. The aim of our study is to compare the outcome after primary ACL reconstruction with BPTB autografts using the Endobutton CL BTB or metal interference screw for femoral fixation.
After surgical procedures, interventions to reduce postoperative bleeding are of great importance. In this study, the effect will be investigated of administering tranexamic acid, which is designed for injection, directly onto the raw wound surface (topical application) created during surgery. In this way only a small amount of drug is to reach a large wound area. There will be a higher drug concentration of it in the exposed wound surface than after injection, but only a very low concentration in the body, and no risk of injury from needles. The researchers have recently shown that topically applicated tranexamic acid reduces bleeding in women who had two-sided breast reduction surgery. Now it will be studied whether topically applicated tranexamic acid reduces bleeding from superficial wounds, using as a study model the homogenous wounds created by tangential skin excision when harvesting split skin grafts for skin transplants. Two identical wound surfaces in the same patient will serve as case and control.
The purpose of this randomized and controlled intervention study is to explore the effect of a physiotherapy intervention targeting contract and spastic hamstring muscles in children having bilateral spastic cerebral palsy (CP), GMFCS I-III: A stretching routine targeting hamstrings (and psoas if short), and a progressive strengthening program on the muscles extending then lower extremities (quadriceps, gluteus maximus and triceps surae) Study hypothesis: Stretching of hamstrings and strength training of the extending muscles in the lower extremities in children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy will increase popliteal angle, active knee extension, and gait function.
During in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, women receive hormone stimulation with gonadotropins to induce growth of several ovarian follicles. Selecting the optimal dosage of gonadotropin is important to avoid maturation of too few or too many follicles, which may impair the chances of treatment success, lead to treatment cancellation, or serious side effects. Motivated by the lack of standardised procedures to estimate the optimal dosage of gonadotropins, a patient-specific test has been developed to predict the optimal hormone dosage. By measuring internalisation of gonadotropin by the patient's monocytes isolated form the peripheral blood ex vivo, the Gonadotropin Removal Test determines whether a patient needs increased or reduced hormon doses. In this clinical study the investigators compare deviation from optimal outcome at oocyte pick-up day in two patient groups. Optimal outcome of stimulation is defined as 10 oocytes collected in the group of patients matching the inclusion criteria of the study. The control group receives starting hormone dosage assigned by the clinician according to standard clinical procedures. The intervention group receives starting hormone dosage adjusted according to the results of the Gonadotropin Removal Test.
