PRE- MISTIC: MRI and Cine Imaging to Improve Staging of Tumors In the Colon

At this moment, we use CT and endoscopy to clinically stage colon tumours. Unfortunately, the combination of these imaging techniques is highly inaccurate. 40% of advanced pathological colon tumours (so called T4 tumours) are not staged as a T4 tumour pre-operatively. Preoperative or neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has improved outcomes in other gastrointestinal cancers and seems to be a promising pretreatment for colon tumours. To implement NACin colon tumours, we first need to stage the colon tumours with much higher accuracy. MRI sequences and cine imaging hold promise to provide more accurate staging of colon tumours.

Virtual Reality to Reduce Periprocedural Anxiety During Invasive Coronary Angiography

Introduction Patients undergoing invasive coronary angiography experience anxiety due to various factors. This can lead to physiological and psychological complications, compromising patient comfort and overall procedural outcomes. Benzodiazepines are commonly used to reduce periprocedural anxiety, although the effect is modest. VR is an promising nonpharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce anxiety in patients undergoing an invasive coronary angiography. Methods and analysis A single-center open-label randomized controlled trial was performed to assess the effectiveness of add-on VR therapy on anxiety in 100 patients undergoing invasive coronary angiography and experiencing anxiety in periprocedural setting. The primary outcome is the NRS anxiety score measured just before obtaining arterial access. Secondary outcomes are physiological measures of anxiety and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Perceived Stress Scale, and IGroup presence questionnaire. The NRS anxiety level and physiological measurements will be taken at five scheduled times between pre procedural, peri and post procedural. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Perceived Stress Scale will be performed prior to coronary angiography and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (state form) and the IGroup Presence questionnaire will be performed post-intervention.

Implementation of Bright Light Therapy ID

Many adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) have depressive symptoms, which negatively impact their quality of life. A lot of of the non-medicinal forms of treatment are not or hardly suitable for people with ID. Bright light therapy (BLT) seems to be a good option. Earlier research has shown that BLT is applicable in this group and seems promising in terms of reducing depressive symptoms, without serious side effects. In part 1 of this project we investigate the implementation of BLT at Amarant. We will take the lessons learned into part 2 of this project: the implementation of BLT at Abrona. We will evaluate this process and the outcomes.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of a body weight support system and soft exosuit on dynamic balance and knee and hip kinematics during gait in people with incomplete spinal cord injury.

Vegetable Offering in the Home Environment - Impact of Free Accessibility and Choice on Snack Vegetable Intake

This study examines the impact of offering strategies on the fruit and vegetable intake of children aged 4-6. Two key factors being explored are whether caregivers initiate the offering or if it's freely provided and whether children have a choice in selecting fruits and vegetables. The objective is to determine how these strategies affect the children's fruit and vegetable intake. The research follows a 2x2 factorial cross-over design, with participants exposed to four different conditions. Interventions involve home visits, informed consent, questionnaires, and children tasting vegetables to assess their preferences. A SnackBox is placed in the home, and parents ensure it's filled based on the condition - children either choose a snack vegetable or have it initiated by parents. Daily questionnaires about vegetable consumption are completed, and the study concludes with material collection. The study includes 44 children aged 4-6 and carries minimal risks with no immediate benefits. Caregivers spend around four hours participating in the study.

MBT-early: a Single Case Experimental Design

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by problems in emotion regulation, identity disturbances, and impaired interpersonal functioning. Because BPD may determine health and quality of life in long term, it is important to focus on early detection and early intervention to prevent worsening. In this study, the effectiveness of a new intervention, MBT-early, is investigated in adolescents with borderline personality problems through a single case experimental design (SCED). Existing studies into the efficacy of psychotherapeutic interventions for young people with a (subclinical) borderline personality disorder (BPD) show mixed results. An obvious explanation therefore lies in the heterogeneity of the samples studied, where the same intervention is investigated by young people with some characteristics of borderline personality problems in an early stage as by young people with significant borderline personality problems at a later stage. However, there is evidence that interventions should be targeted specifically at the stage of progression of the disorder ('staged care'). Interventions may be more effective when they correspond to the stage of disease progression. MBT-early is an intervention intended for young people in an early stage of BPD. The intervention not only addresses the characteristics of BPD, but generally aims to improve personality functioning. MBT-early focuses on strengthening the young person's mentalizing capacity and to increase epistemic trust (the openness to learn from others) in order to prevent developmental stagnation and chronic consequences of personality disfunctioning. Although there is evidence for the efficacy of MBT for adults and adolescents, MBT-early has not yet been studied in terms of effectiveness. This study sets out to investigate the effectiveness of MBT-early, using a Single Case Experimental Design. The investigators hypothesize that treating youngsters with early features of BPD with MBT-early results in reduction of features of personality problems and the most frequently occurring symptoms (depressive symptoms). Exploratively mechanisms of change are being explored. Research questions: 1. What is the effectiveness of MBT-early in youth with early stage BPD? 1a) What effect does MBT-early have on the improvement of personality functioning? 1b) What effect does early MBT have on the degree of depressed mood? 2. What are the possible working mechanisms of MBT-early? 2a) Does the youth's mentalizing ability influence the improvement of personality functioning? 2b) Does epistemic trust affect the improvement of personality functioning? Objective of the study: The primary objective is to study the effectiveness of MBT-early in terms of treatment outcome on personality functioning and depressive symptoms. As a second objective the investigators will exploratively study the presumed working mechanisms of the MBT-early intervention (mentalizing capacities and epistemic trust).

The goal of this clinical trial is to Investigate the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Efficacy of HMB-001 in Participants with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Parts A, B, and C: To determine the safety and tolerability of HMB-001 - Part A: To establish the dose level(s) and dosing interval(s) of HMB-001 to be investigated in Parts B and C - Parts B and C: To estimate the ability of HMB-001 to prevent the number and severity of bleeds Part A will assess differing singular doses of HMB-001 in small groups of participants. The dose administered to a newly enrolled participant (or groups of participants) may only increase if analysis of data from previous dosing shows it is safe to do so. The planned duration of participation in Part A is approximately 6 months, which consists of a Screening Period, an optional Run-in Observation Period, and a follow-up period of 8 weeks. Part B is similar to Part A as it involves testing different dose levels of HMB-001 in small groups of participants. However, in Part B, HMB-001 is given multiple times over a 3-month period, either weekly, every 2 weeks, or every 4 weeks. Part B consists of a Screening Period, a Run-in Observation Period, a 3-month Treatment Period, and a Safety Follow-up following the last dose of HMB-001. Part C is open to participants from Part B and consists of approximately a 9-month Treatment Period and a Safety Follow-up following the last dose of HMB-001.
