NCT ID: NCT05435196 Recruiting - Prediabetic State Clinical Trials

Efficacy of High-intensity Exercise in Women With Prediabetes

Prediabetes
Start date: April 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

About 382 million of adults in the world have Diabetes type 2 (DT2), and it is foreseen that this number will increase to 592 million in 2035. International Diabetes Federation (IDF) (2017) established that 352 million adults around 20 and 79 years old (which is 7,3% of that population), could be classified as prediabetes. This last is characterized by the resistance to insulin of skeletal muscle, of the liver and/ or adipose tissue, provoking the excessive e insulin secretion of β cells and pancreatic exhaustion which produce severe hyperglycemia. The High-intensity interval training (HIIT) can increase the oxidation ability, relating directly to insulin sensibility.

NCT ID: NCT05431920 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Effects of Vitamin D Supplementation in Adolescents With Asthma, Obesity and Vitamin D Deficiency.

Start date: October 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obesity has been associated with a specific non-allergic asthma phenotype and to a deficiency of vitamin D in at least 90% of the pediatric population. Adolescents with non-allergic asthma and vitamin D deficiency have up to six times the risk [OR: 6.2 (IC95% 2.0-21.6), p=0.002] of having a severe asthmatic crisis and do not respond adequately to inhaled steroid treatment. To evaluate the effect of oral vitamin D3 supplementation with 50,000 IU single dose and 4,000 IU daily vs 2,000 IU daily on the Asthma Control Questionnaire score, number and incidence of asthmatic crisis, lung function, and Th17 inflammatory biomarkers in adolescents with asthma associated to obesity and vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency for three months.

NCT ID: NCT05429229 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Diabetic Retinopathy

Effect of Topical Antioxidants in Dry Eye Disease and Diabetic Retinopathy

Start date: November 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The main objective of our study is to evaluate the effect of eye drops with antioxidants on mild to moderate dry eye symptoms in patients with diabetic retinopathy, evaluating the levels of inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress in the tear film. The researchers intend to include 78 patients, divided into three intervention groups, who will be randomly assigned an eye drop with antioxidants, where the patient must apply one drop in each eye for 1 month. In the study, the characteristics of the surface of the eye will be evaluated and tear samples will be taken from each eye, before and after the intervention with the eye drops. Subsequently, the clinical and sample results will be evaluated to compare the effects between them.

NCT ID: NCT05427721 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Thymol on Netrin-1 on Obese Patients

Start date: April 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The prevalence of obesity in Mexico is 35.4%, and it is considered a risk factor for the development of diabetes, systemic arterial hypertension and dyslipidemia. Obesity due to the increased distribution and growth of adipose tissue creates a pro-inflammatory state induced by molecules secreted by the adipocytes themselves. Netrin-1 is a cell migration protein, which directs the recruitment, migration and entrapment of macrophages in different tissues, within adipose tissue the entrapment of macrophages induces the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which increase the secretion of pro-inflammatory adipokines. It has been found in high concentration in patients with obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Thymol is a phytopharmaceutical derived from oregano oil that has shown powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects through the stimulation of PPAR-gamma, adiponectin and inhibition of the NF-κB pathway mediated by the JNK pathway, pathways in which netrin-1 is involved in macrophage entrapment and recruitment.

NCT ID: NCT05383820 Recruiting - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

Effect of Paracetamol and Ketorolac on RANK-L Levels in Patients Starting Orthodontic Treatment

Start date: September 27, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Due to the high prevalence of malocclusions in Mexico and the existing concern to improve aesthetics, function (chewing), or both, patients resort to orthodontic treatment. The patient may experience pain during treatment due to the release of different chemical mediators such as RANK-L. Analgesic and anti-inflammatory medications such as acetaminophen and ketorolac are used to control pain during orthodontic tooth movement. These drugs can inhibit the expression of RANK-L which can affect tooth movement, inhibiting bone remodeling. The orthodontist should indicate the drug that is safest for the patient without affecting treatment or tooth movement.
