There are about 7997 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Japan. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tumor tissue in the laboratory from patients with cancer may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. It may also help doctors predict which patients will respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is looking at prognostic factors in patients receiving tegafur-uracil for stage II colon cancer that was completely removed by surgery.
The purpose of this clinical study is to establish the maximum tolerated dose of BMS-754807 when administered orally on a once daily schedule in subjects with solid tumors.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood and tissue from patients with prostate cancer after receiving implant radiation therapy and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist may help doctors identify biomarkers related to cancer and help doctors predict how patients will respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is looking at PSA levels and biopsy samples after undergoing implant radiation therapy and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist therapy in patients with stage I or stage II prostate cancer.
This trial is conducted in Europe and Japan. The aim of this clinical trial is to investigate the possible difference in the development of type 2 diabetes in a Japanese and a Caucasian population. Healthy subjects, subjects with impaired glucose tolerance, as well as subjects with type 2 diabetes will be included in the trial. The development of type 2 diabetes across the cohort will be investigated with regard to insulin sensitivity and B-cell capacity.
The study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of an investigational drug called SAM-531 at three dosage levels. Subjects will receive either one of the 3 dosage levels of SAM-531, donepezil or placebo for the first 24 weeks of the study (period I). Subjects who receive placebo for period I will be assigned to receive the highest dose of SAM-531 SAM-531 for the remaining 28 weeks of the study, while subjects who received one of the three SAM-531 dosage levels or donepezil in period I will continue with the same study drug (period II).
This research trial studies carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA-IX), p16, proliferative markers, and human papilloma virus (HPV) in diagnosing cervical lesions in patients with abnormal cervical cells. Studying biomarkers in abnormal cervical cells may improve the ability to find cervical lesions and plan effective treatment.
This is a multi-center, open-labeled, non-comparative study to examine the safety and efficacy of ASP1585 for long-term dosing in chronic kidney disease and hyperphosphatemia patients on hemodialysis.
Control of body weight (BW) is important to prevent and manage type 2 diabetes. Regardless of the close association, little is understood about the precise relationship between BW and glycemic control, which might be of benefit for patients with type 2 diabetes. The researchers investigated the correlation between changes in BW and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with a diet therapy or pioglitazone.
This is a multicenter study designed to evaluate the response rate of S-1 plus Leucovorin (1 week on and 1 week off) as first -line treatment for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
This phase II study examines the safety and efficacy of combination therapy for hypertension in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). This study examines the safety and efficacy of combination therapy by imidapril (ACEI) or cilnidipine (CCB) in ADPKD patients whose blood pressure is not controlled under 120/80 mmHg by candesartan (ARB) alone.
