There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of 4 or more DNA-repair gene defects in a population of men with metastatic Prostate Cancer (PC) and to use the reported DNA-repair gene defects to assess biomarker eligibility for niraparib interventional studies.
As a consequence of the impending increase in life expectancy, there is urgent need to adopt life-saving interventions, such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, (SCT) in groups of patients that have been regarded as unsuitable for such medical procedures owing to their advanced age. However, a growing body of evidence shows that age per se does not account for a reliable estimation of the capability of an individual to cope with the stressful procedure of SCT and to deal with the cognate adverse effects. Recent literature shows that changes in epigenetic markers (i.e. the extent of methylation) at specific loci of genomic DNA marks the rate of aging and allows for the estimation of the so called "biologic aging." In other words, individuals of the same chronologic age may turn out to be older or younger respect when their biologic age is assessed. This latter is expected to be tightly linked to changes in major homeostatic mechanisms and consequently to be in relationship the chance of successful SCT. The primary objective of the study is the study of DNA in patients undergoing allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. DNA will be assessed for the extent of methylation, which will be also in relationship with circulating exogenous DNA (i.e the microbiome).
Obesity is a problem of ever-growing importance, especially in industrialized countries, both in adults and in the pediatric population. Children and obese adolescents, like adults, have an increased risk, compared with normal-weight peers, to develop metabolic syndrome and atherosclerotic disease, pathophysiological basis of cardiovascular events. Alteration of the elastic properties of the arteries has been described previously in obese children and adolescents and is considered an initial marker of atherosclerotic vascular damage. The determination of the indices of arterial stiffness (PWV, Pulse Wave Velocity; AI, Augmentation Index, SI, Stiffness Index) is possible through techniques currently used for the determination of vascular function even in children. Nuts and hazelnuts are rich in potentially beneficial substances including unsaturated fatty acids, especially omega-6 (present in both) and omega-3 (present only in nuts), Several clinical trials have already shown in adults a potential beneficial effect of the addition of different types of nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, pistachios, etc.) on the characteristics of the metabolic syndrome also through their possible antioxidant effect and vasoactive. In children, some epidemiological studies have associated with a higher consumption of nuts reduced risk of hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity and fasting glucose. The study will be conducted with a randomized design with two arms in parallel with blinded operator. The main objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of 15 grams of nuts and 15 grams of nuts a day in addition to a low calorie diet on the content of erythrocyte membranes of alpha-linolenic acid three months after the beginning of the trial in a group of obese children. Secondary objectives are to evaluate the efficacy of walnuts and hazelnuts in improving the systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure values, lipid profile, glucose and fasting insulin, vascular function.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a novel approach with a motor imagery-based exercise program versus conventional rehabilitative approach in fibromyalgia syndrome (FM): reduction of pain was set as the primary outcome.
Interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features (IPAF) was defined in 2015 by the Working Group of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the American Thoracic Society (ATS) as interstitial pneumonia with some clinical and/or serological features suggesting presence of an underlying autoimmune disorder. However, ofiicial criteria for diagnosis of an autoimmune disease are not met. Aims of the study: 1. Determine the incindence of IPAF in comparison with interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) and classic autoimmune diseases (ADs) in polish pulmonological centers. 2. Clinical, serological, functional and radiological and histopathological characteristics of IPAF patients. 3. Analysis of diagnostic strategies towards specific IPAF subgroups. 4. Characterictics of potencial diagnostic, predictive and prognostic features of IPAF. 5. Prospective assessment of IPAF patients in the courseof 5 years in order to determine stability of the diagnosis and potential progression to other diseases, e.g. ADs.

Individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are at greater risk of fracture than non-diabetic subjects. Although the mechanisms underlying bone fragility in T1D are not completely understood, insulin deficiency seems to play a key role. To date, no information is available on the effect of diabetes remission after pancreatic transplantation alone (PTA) on the risk of fractures in T1D individuals with preserved kidney function. The overall objective of this retrospective cohort study is to evaluate the effect of T1D remission after PTA on fracture risk. The primary endpoint will be the difference in fracture incidence (any fracture) between the PTA group and the control group. For the PTA group, the incidence of fractures after transplantation will be considered. Data from patients who underwent PTA at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital from January 2, 2005 to December 31, 2017 will be compared with age-, gender- and disease duration-matched controls from the pool of outpatients with T1D attending the Endocrinology Unit at the same Institution. Anthropometric, anamnestic, laboratory data and data on the history of fractures and past/current therapies will be collected. With this study, for the first time we will be able to obtain information on the effects of diabetes remission on the risk of fracture. We expect that the remission of diabetes will result in a beneficial effect on the fracture risk.
