There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The study is a feasibility study or pilot study, that is a clinical investigation to acquire the preliminary information on a motorized exoskeleton (BRIDGE / EMPATIA exoskeleton) for the movement of the upper limb in order to develop it, including design changes. The primary objective of the clinical trial is to assess the fit, safety and usability of the device in supporting the execution of daily activities for patients suffering from muscular dystrophy. The risk analysis for the BRIDGE / EMPATIA device does not present particular criticalities that preclude the use of the device in the target population. In any case, during the trial eventual adverse events are recorded for the verification of safety..
Peri-implant mucositis is an important disease entity as a result of its high prevalence and the lack of a standard mode of therapy. Non-surgical therapy of peri-implant mucositis appears to be partially effective in resolving the disease. In several cases, however, only limited improvements have been reported in the main clinical parameters (bleeding partial resolution and presence of pocket at follow-up visits) and there is a clear tendency to relapse of the disease. In these cases it is therefore recommended to consider adjunctive therapies. Numerous approaches have been used for implant surface decontamination including mechanical, chemical and treatments by means of air-powder or laser. The aim of the present randomized controlled clinical trial will be to assess the efficacy in improving clinical parameters of two further methods of implant surface decontamination (Er:YAG laser or air-abrasive device) after mechanical cleaning during non surgical treatment of peri-implant mucositis.
Adolescence is a period of many physical, mental, emotional, and social changes. It is also associated with risk behaviour conducts. Nonetheless, not all youths under disadvantage, adversity, or exposure to risk factors experience negative mental health outcomes. The concept of RESILIENCE provides one possible explanation for the ability of some individuals to maintain positive mental health. Resilience is thus the ability of an individual or community to adapt to life challenges or adversities while maintaining mental health and well-being. The increasing prevalence of mental disorders amongst children (around 10-20% of young people) makes positive mental health promotion in schools necessary through intervention programmes. UPRIGHT (Universal Preventive Resilience Intervention Globally implemented in schools to improve and promote mental Health for Teenagers) is a research and innovation project funded by the European Union´s Horizon 2020 programme (No. 754919). UPRIGHT general aim is to promote mental well-being and prevent mental disorders in youth by enhancing resilience capacities. It has been designed as a whole school approach addressing early adolescents, their families and the school community to finally create a real mental well-being culture at schools.
A chart review study of patients with haemophilia A with inhibitors treated with rFVIIIFc (Elocta®) for immune tolerance induction.
The purpose of this open-label extension (OLE) study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of etrasimod in participants with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) who previously received double-blind treatment (either etrasimod 2 mg per day or placebo) during participation in one of the qualified Phase 3 or Phase 2 double-blind, placebo-controlled parent studies including but not limited to: (APD334-301 [NCT03945188] or APD334-302 [NCT03996369] or APD334-210 [NCT04607837]).
Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) is a severe form of endometriosis in which lesions affect retroperitoneal tissue and pelvic organs wall. It is often characterized by pain (dysmenorrhea, dysuria, dyspnea, dyspareunia, and chronic pelvic pain) and infertility, drastically impacting on women' quality of life. It is typically multifocal, involving uterosacral ligaments, the upper third of posterior vaginal wall, bowel, bladder, and ureters. Indocyanine green (ICG) is an anionic tricarbocyanine molecule able to bind to plasma proteins into the vascular system and to become fluorescent if excited by near-infrared light (NIR). NIR-ICG imaging is used in gynecology for the intraoperative diagnosis of occult peritoneal and deep endometriosis at white light and to assess tissue perfusion and guide surgical strategy.
The present trial will be conducted to verify if early supplemental parenteral nutrition in combination with nutritional counseling improves survival and the feasibility of chemotherapy, in addition to nutritional status, body composition, functional status and quality of life in treatment-naïve patients with metastatic gastric cancer at nutritional risk undergoing first-line chemotherapy.
Considering the multifactorial nature of the complications of Type 2 diabetes, such as cardiovascular and neurological complications and therefore the multiplicity of risk factors that contribute to their development, it is assumed that the use of a dedicated function of the MyStar Connect software (beta version), that allows the querying of the application through specific queries (presence of risk factors) and the calculation of specific risk scores in order to extract the patients most at risk of developing such complications, can provide support to the diabetologist to optimize management of the patient at risk and complicated through, for example, a more intensive visit program and this then translates into an improvement in the parameters related to these risk factors.
The present study is aimed at comparing different strategies of UF profiling, dialysate sodium individualization and sodium profiling (even combining one with the other) and at evaluating the effectiveness of a new UF profile which has an ascending/descending shape. The goal of the study is to provide better dialysis tolerance and lower rates of intradialytic hypotensive events by the application of this UF profile design in combination with a neutral sodium balance.
Zenker's diverticulum (ZD) is a rare benign condition, due to an acquired sac-like outpouching of the mucosa and submucosa layers originating from the pharyngoesophageal junction. Endoscopic techniques like flexible endoscopic septum division (FESD) or per-oral endoscopic septotomy (POES), represent a minimally invasive alternative to surgery or to rigid endoscopic procedure to treat ZD. The goal of the research will be to evaluate the safety of the procedures and to measure Zenker-symptom severity in all patients treated by endoscopic procedures.
