There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate on-treatment efficacy against hepatitis D virus (HDV) of JNJ-73763989 + nucleos(t)ide analog (NA) regimen compared to NA alone.
The purpose of this study was to assess the safety and immunogenicity of GSK's combined diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, hepatitis B, inactivated poliovirus and Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine (DTPa-HBV-IPV/Hib) versus MCM Vaccine BV's DTaP5-HBV-IPV-Hib vaccine administered to healthy infants and toddlers, between 6 and 12 weeks of age at the time of first vaccination, based on a 2-, 4-, and 12-months of age vaccination schedule.
Patients suffering metastasized gastrointestinal cancer often receive ineffective treatments for prolonged periods of time as therapy non-response, which is hard to detect, cannot be determined earlier than nine weeks following start of therapy. Current therapy evaluation strategies primarily focus on morphological changes via RECIST criteria. However, morphological changes are subjected to prior physiological and metabolic alterations. Therefore, the NICI project's ambition is to lay the foundations of a new area of research: the study of human biology using non-invasive chemistry imaging. For this, NICI aims to unite two areas of research: metabolomics and magnetic resonance (MR). Metabolomics studies body functions through the measurements of metabolites; MR imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) can provide 3D images of the body and measure metabolite and lipid content respectively. Previous studies show that phospholipid metabolites in particular the cell membrane precursors i.e. phosphomonoesters (PME), and the cell membrane degradation products i.e. phosphodiesters (PDE) are valuable biomarkers in therapy assessment. With this NICI approach, the consortium aims at reducing the nine weeks period before therapy efficacy evaluation to three weeks or less. By validating the powerful new MRS(I)-visible biomarkers in a patient cohort, a non-invasive technology can be developed for dynamically mapping biochemical processes in the whole human body and pave the way for individualized medicine.
An open-label, controlled, multi-site, interventional, 2-arm, Phase II trial of BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab vs pembrolizumab monotherapy as first line treatment in patients with unresectable recurrent or metastatic HPV16+ HNSCC expressing programmed cell death ligand -1 (PD-L1) with combined positive score (CPS) ≥1. This trial has two parts. Part A, an initial non-randomized Safety Run-In Phase to confirm the safety and tolerability at the selected dose range level of BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab. Part B, the Randomized part of the trial to generate pivotal efficacy and safety data of BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab versus pembrolizumab monotherapy in the first line setting in patients with unresectable recurrent or metastatic HPV16+ HNSCC expressing PD-L1 with CPS ≥1. For Part B, an optional pre-screening phase is available for all patients where patients' tumor samples may be submitted for central HPV16 DNA and central PD-L1 expression testing prior to screening into the main trial.
The trial investigates the efficacy and safety of brodalumab against guselkumab in treatment for patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who still have some remaining symptoms after ustekinumab treatment.
An Anticipated difficult tracheal intubation is recommended to be managed performing the so called "Awake tracheal endoscopic intubation" (ATI) with the maintenance of patient's spontaneous breathing after an adequate sedation and topical anesthesia of upper airways, providing supplemental oxygen. Initially only flexible bronchoscope was considered the device of choice (the gold standard) for ATI but in the last decade videolaryngoscopes with hyper-angulated blade have been demonstrated to be an efficacy technique. Most recently, endoscopic rigid stylets such as Bonfils (Carl Storz™) and Sensacope (Acoutronic™) have been proposed as alternative techniques for ATI in the event of expected difficult tracheal intubation. However, to date, no comparison studies have been carried out between these two kind of devices, alternative to flexible fiberscope, for ATI. This is a clinical prospective randomized-controlled trial of non inferiority. The aim of this study is to compare the intubation success rate between two different devices (C-MAC Video Laryngoscope and VS-CMAC fiberoptic stylet) in patients with severe predicted difficult airways scheduled for elective surgery. The primary endpoint is the comparison of success rate for the tracheal intubation, demonstrating the non inferiority of videostylet efficacy compared to the most consolidated technique based on videolaryngoscope.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of adjunctive pimavanserin compared with adjunctive placebo in the treatment of negative symptoms of schizophrenia
Undernutrition is a common problem in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) despite international consensus that the patients shall be given 120-200% of energy recommendations. Studies imply that one problem might be that the patients are not compensated for the essential fatty acid deficiency (linoleic acid, LA), which is well known in these patients. This deficiency is shown not to be due to fat malabsorption, but related to an increased turnover of arachidonic acid, a transformation product of LA. This abnormality is related to mutations associated with a more severe clinical phenotype. The most common and typical symptom of LA deficiency is poor growth. Studies in animals have further indicated that many of the symptoms in CF are related to the deficiency. A series of recent prospective studies from Wisconsin corroborate the importance of LA for growth. In Sweden LA has been supplemented to most patients since the late 70´, and the condition of patients have been among the leading in the world regarding growth, pulmonary function and survival. Short-term studies have shown better effect of LA supplementation compared to similar supply of energy without including extra LA. There are few long-term studies, performed before the gene was identified, giving very heterogeneous patient groups in regard to genotype, but with some positive results on growth and physiology. It´s of interest that modern personalized extremely expensive therapy with correctors and potentiators for Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator may influence lipid metabolism. LA might thus tentatively be a cheap adjuvant to this modern therapy, but this has to be specially studied. The aim of the study is to find if there are differences in clinical and metabolic outcome between two groups, blindly given similar amount of extra calories, in one group consisting of linoleic acid. The benefit for the patients would be great if the expected positive effect can be proved in the planned study. The treatment will be cheap and without adverse effects. From socioeconomic point of view is would be a great advantage.
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of subcutaneous fremanezumab in the preventive treatment of migraine in pediatric participants 6 to 17 years of age (inclusive at enrollment in the pivotal study). Secondary objectives are to evaluate the efficacy of subcutaneous fremanezumab in pediatric participants with migraine and to evaluate the immunogenicity of fremanezumab and the impact of ADAs on clinical outcomes in pediatric participants exposed to fremanezumab. The total duration of the study is planned to be up to 84 months.
