There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
In post-menopausal metastatic hormone-responsive breast cancer women. This study is a two arm randomized trial to evaluate the effectiveness of dose-titration regimen of fulvestrant compared with the approved dosing regimen. Patients will be randomized to one of the following treatment arms: Arm A: Fulvestrant 500 mg days 0, 14, 28, then 250 mg every 2 weeks for 5 administrations, then 250 mg every 28 days, until progression or unacceptable toxicity Arm B: Fulvestrant 250 mg every 28 days until progression or unacceptable toxicity
The purpose of the present study is to develop a biological prognostic index in patients with Binet stage A Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) who do not necessitate therapy according to NCI guidelines and to prospectively validate the proposed score system based on the absence/presence of 1, 2 or 3 unfavorable prognostic markers such as cluster of differentiation 38 (CD38) expression, Zap-70 expression and immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region (IgVH) configuration.
Patients presenting with ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) in the emergency department will be screened for clinical eligibility and asked to sign informed consent to the study. A total of 40 patients will be randomized. 20 of them will receive a Trapidil eluting stent (Intrepide™ stent), 20 will receive a Paclitaxel eluting stent (Taxus™ stent). After 90 days the patients who were treated with the INTREPIDE stent in the first lesion will be treated with the Taxus stent in the second lesion. After 90 days the patients who were treated with the Taxus stent in the first lesion will be treated with the INTREPIDE stent in the second lesion. Coronary angiography will be performed through the femoral (groin) or radial (wrist) artery with the use of standard techniques. The doctor will determine if the patient is qualified for enrolment at the end of the diagnostic coronary angiogram
It has been suggested that cardiovascular risk factors either independently or in cluster (metabolic syndrome) increase the risk of both type 2 diabetes (DM2) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Consumption of citrus fruits is linked to reduced cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Hesperidin is a flavanone abundant in citrus fruit with putative vasodilator actions in vitro. While molecular mechanisms of vascular actions of hesperidin begin to be explored, no data on in vivo vascular effect of this flavanone has been ever acquired.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Retinol binding protein 4 has a role in insulin resistance development in patients suffering from end stage renal disease on hemodialysis.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as hydroxyurea, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Imatinib mesylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether hydroxyurea is more effective when given alone or together with imatinib mesylate in treating patients with meningioma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well hydroxyurea works compared with giving hydroxyurea together with imatinib mesylate in treating patients with recurrent or progressive meningioma.
The Increlex® Global Registry is a descriptive, multicenter, observational, prospective, open-ended, non interventional, post-authorisation surveillance registry. The main purpose of this global registry is to collect, analyse and report safety data during and up to at least 5 years after the end of treatment in children and adolescents receiving Increlex® therapy for SPIGFD according to the locally approved product information.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research study is looking at blood samples in young patients with cytopenia after undergoing a donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Immunosuppressive therapies, such as alemtuzumab and cyclosporine, may improve bone marrow function and increase blood cell counts. Giving alemtuzumab together with cyclosporine may be an effective treatment for severe aplastic anemia or acquired marrow failure. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects of giving alemtuzumab together with cyclosporine and to see how well it works in treating patients with severe aplastic anemia or acquired marrow failure.
The purpose of this study is: - to study the intestinal microflora of colicky infants before and after L. reuteri or placebo administration, evaluating the effect of Lactobacillus reuteri on the growth of the main intestinal microbiota (coliforms, Clostridium butyricum, Lactobacilli, Bifidobacteria) with fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) technique or with Real-Time PCR Taqman; Further, the global intestinal microflora composition, using large-scale DNA sequencing of 16S rRNA genes ( 454-pyrosequencing technique. - to evaluate the improvement of colicky symptoms by the oral administration of Lactobacillus reuteri (primary outcome: reduction of the daily average crying time from baseline to the end of the treatment period, to less than 3 hours a day, the cut-off proposed by Wessel; secondary outcome: number of responders versus non-responders in each group at the end of the treatment). - to evaluate fecal calprotectin values at the beginning and at the end of the study. BÜHLMANN Quantum Blue® Calprotectin High Range (Schönenbuch, Switzerland). A quantitative immunoassay. - to evaluate Th17/Treg balance at time 0 and t 30 ( days) investigating mRNA FOXP3 and RORγ in peripheral blood using RT-PCR Real Time Taqman. - the measurement of the expression level of CC-chemokine receptor 7 messenger RNA using the real-time TaqMan reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction method. - the measurement of expression of interleukin 10 (IL-10) messenger RNA using the real-time TaqMan reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction method. - Parental satisfaction at the end of the study period ( 30 day ) with a numerc scale from 1 to 10.
