Following the licencing of a new drug, Defitelio®, indicated for the treatment of severe Veno-Occlusive Disease of the liver (sVOD), a rare but serious complication of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), as a specific obligation (SOB), the manufacture and marketing Authorisation Holder (MHA) (Gentium, a Jazz Pharmaceuticals Company) was required by PRAC (Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee) to set up a disease registry to collect safety and outcome data, and to assess patterns of utilization of Defitelio® in the post-approval setting. This registry is a Post Authorization Safety Study (PASS), is being coordinated in collaboration with the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). For this study, anonymised clinical data are being collected from patients who develop VOD and and treated with and patients who have been treated with Defitelio® for conditions other than sVOD. This was a double-blind, placebo-controlled, event-driven randomized withdrawal study to investigate the efficacy and safety of secukinumab treatment in the Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) categories of Juvenile Psoriatic Arthritis (JPsA) and Enthesitis-related Arthritis (ERA). The study was divided into 3 parts (plus a post-treatment follow-up period) consisting of open-label, single-arm active treatment in Treatment Periods 1 and 3 and a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, event-driven withdrawal design in Treatment Period 2
A 2 week randomized (1:1:1), controlled, double-masked, parallel group, pre-market study. Patients with ocular discomfort following refractive surgery procedure (within 6 months from enrollment into the investigation) will be evaluated at baseline (Day 1), at Week 2 (day 15±2 days) and at Week 3 follow-up visit (day 22±2, or early exit).
Aim of the study is to evaluate the effects of vented base bottles on respiration-swallow patterns and on gastroesophageal refluxes in preterm infants with clinical suspect of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In this crossover-randomized study, we compared the effects of standard feeding bottles (A) versus vented base feeding bottles (B) on a group of patients with at least 2 clinical GERD symptoms. 24 hours of synchronized cardiorespiratory (CR) and Esophageal Multichannel intraluminal impedance (MII/pH) monitoring were evaluated for each patient. During this period, patients were fed alternatively with feeding bottle A and B.
One of the major challenge in the field of organ transplantation is the shortage of donor organs. Many patients waiting for organ transplantation die during the waiting time and many patients wait for organ transplantation many years with a detrimental effect on their quality of life, and increasing morbidity and the costs related to. Effective strategies, which safely extends the donor pool, are therefore advocated. During the last 20 years the two main policies to gain this purpose were the living donation and the utilization of extended donor's criteria (ECD). These donors are supposed to yield a lower outcome than the conventional donors and many research protocols were developed to reduce the preservation injury (PI) and PI-related complications. Static cold storage (SCS) has been the standard technique in clinical practice for liver and kidney preservation using particular solutions (Wisconsin, Custodiol and Celsior) able to prevent cellular swelling. Recently, graft preservation with hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) is developing, because it seems to improve early graft function due to increased tissue ATP concentrations upon reperfusion and due to the continual flush of the microcirculation which removes waste products. The addition of oxygen during the perfusion represents an innovation in the methods of preservation in approved clinical setting seems to add further improvements of the graft. The present study was designed in order to assess the impact of hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (PIO) of marginal human kidney and liver compared with SCS.

In the last few years, a new clinical entity has emerged which includes patients who consider themselves to be suffering from problems caused by wheat and/or gluten ingestion, even though they do not have celiac disease (CD) or wheat allergy. This clinical condition has been named non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), although in a recent article, the investigators suggested the term "non-celiac wheat sensitivity" (NCWS), because it is not known to date what component of wheat actually causes the symptoms. The clinical picture of NCWS is characterized by combined gastrointestinal (bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea and/or constipation, nausea, epigastric pain, gastroesophageal reflux, aphthous stomatitis) and very different extra-intestinal and systemic manifestations (headache, depression, anxiety, 'foggy mind,' tiredness, dermatitis or skin rash, fibromyalgia-like joint/muscle pain, leg or arm numbness, and anemia). Nowadays, there no data about a possible relationship between gynaecological disorders and food ingestion and food allergy/intolerance. Therefore, the aims of the present study are to investigate 1) the prevalence and characteristics of gynaecological disorders in NCWS patients compared to CD and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) controls, and 2) the modification of such disorders in NCWS patients after a gluten (wheat)-free diet.
Background: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is often overlooked and underdiagnosed. At present the diagnosis of PHPT remains challenging and is based on serum calcium (Ca) and PTH. As serum Ca and phosphorous (P) are inversely related in PHPT, the Ca/P ratio might be considered a good candidate tool in the diagnosis of PHPT. AIM: The aim of this study is to investigate the diagnostic value of the Ca/P ratio in the diagnosis of PHPT. Study design: Retrospective, observational, cross-sectional, case-control clinical trial will be carried out. Biochemical measurements will include PTH, Vitamin D, serum Ca, P, albumin, and creatinine.

The two cerebral hemispheres find themselves in a state of balanced mutual inhibition. A stroke with involvement of motor function leads to a reduced excitability in affected hemisphere M1 and to an increased excitability of contralateral M1. Stroke therefore might impair interhemispheric balance, leading to a decreased inhibition of contralesional hemisphere by ipsilesional hemisphere and, in turn, to an increased inhibition of ipsilesional hemisphere by contralesional hemisphere. Permanence of healthy hemisphere hyperactivation in chronic phase after stroke is usually index of little functional recovery and is correlated with a greater ipsilateral structural damage. Robot-mediated physical therapy is an innovative rehabilitation technique that is effective in stroke patients. In this study, the investigators will add a non-invasive brain stimulation protocol with Transcranial stimulation with direct current (tDCS) to the robotic treatment in chronic stroke patients. tDCS is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique that is able to modulate cortical excitability. The hypothesis is that dual t-DCS (ipsilesional excitation and concomitant contralesional inhibition) could restore interhemispheric balance improving the benefits of robotic therapy with Armeo Power®.
