There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a prospective, phase II, single-centre, non-randomised, single-arm study, enrolling patients with benign and malignant bilio-pancreatic diseases with an indication to biliary or pancreatic plastic stent positioning during ERCP. On procedure day, the study team will confirm that the patient meets all the inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria. The patient will undergo the ABS insertion and monitored and follow-up accordingly to biodegration variant.
Anemia is common in intensive care unit (ICU) patients and often appears early in the ICU course. The optimal management red blood cells RBC transfusion in critically ill patients remains controversial and clinical studies in this field have usually been based on transfusion thresholds. In the "TRICC" Trial, patients assigned to a restrictive transfusion strategy (transfusion if Hb<7 g/dL) had similar mortality to patients transfused if Hb<10 g/dL. Notably, none of the large RCT tried to focus on a personalize RBC transfusion protocol, i.e. a transfusion protocol which address the individual need for transfusion basing on physiological approach. We therefore hypothesized that patients with high extraction of oxygen could benefit more of RBCs transfusion regardless their hemoglobin levels.
The purpose of this clinical study is to determine whether the addition of an oral Factor XIa Inhibitor to Aspirin and Clopidogrel is more effective than standard therapy in secondary stroke prevention.
Repeated transfusions have been associated with very poor outcome of preterm infants. Fetal hemoglobin (HbF) and adult Hb (HbA) have different affinity for oxygen. The high level of adult Hb may contribute to exacerbating the oxidative damage responsible for prematurity diseases. The investigators hypothesized that transfusing red blood cells (RBC) obtained from allogeneic cord blood (CB) of healthy full-term babies (which contains almost exclusively HbF) may prevent the non-physiological decrease of HbF in premature neonates, likewise protecting them from oxygen radical diseases. Cord blood transfusion in preterms - CB TRIP - is a monocentric prospective nonrandomized study aimed to monitor HbF levels in preterm neonates receiving RBC transfusions from either umbilical blood of full-term healthy babies (CB-RBC) and/or from adult donors (A-RBC).
Pilonidal disease is morbid condition of young productive population, that could impair quality of life with high cost for health care system. No consensus exists on optimal surgical treatment, even if several techniques have been proposed. In this preliminary experimental case-control study the investigators compared excision by knife and diathermy with the aim to investigate if wound dehiscence could be related to heat spreading during excision of the sinus.
The primary objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of fostamatinib in subjects with warm antibody autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA).
This is a randomized, open-label, international, multi-center, phase III trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SHR-1210 plus apatinib mesylate versus sorafenib as first-line therapy in patients with advanced HCC.
The aim of this study is to verify the beneficial effects on insulin resistance and fetal sonographic parameters of a diet supplementation of myoinositol taken during the third trimester by pregnant women affected by gestational diabetes. Participants should be randomly allocated to take either myoinositol or placebo twice/day for 8 weeks. The effect of myoinositol will be checked in blood samples (insulinemia and Homeostasis Model Assessment - Insulin Resistance "HOMA-IR") and in fetal sonographic parameters after 4 and 8 weeks from the beginning of the nutritional supplementation.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and early clinical activity of INCB086550 in participants with advanced solid tumors who have failed prior treatments.
This study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and biomarker effects of RO7234292 (RG6042) compared with placebo in participants with manifest Huntington's disease (HD)
