There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The primary purpose of this study is to: 1. Demonstrate the safety and efficacy of tipranavir/ritonavir (TPV/r) among a racially diverse HIV+ population (males and females) who are three-class (nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), and protease inhibitor (PI)) experienced with documented resistance to more than one PI. 2. Determine pharmacokinetic data in this racially and gender diverse population. 3. Determine the potential utility of using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in improving efficacy outcomes.
This is a four-center open-label study designed to determine activity of Velcade in Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) patients. A total of 28 subjects will be enrolled. The patients will be registered to GIMEMA Data Center before therapy starts and after inclusion criteria verification.
Elevated levels of D-dimer, a marker of procoagulant state, have been identified as a marker of an increased risk of recurrent VTE. Statins have proven antithrombotic properties, as suggested by the reduction of several prothrombotic markers, including D-dimer, in patients at high risk of arterial thrombosis. Such antithrombotic properties could also be observed in patients at high risk of venous thrombosis. Aim of the study is to assess the effect of statins on D-dimer levels in patients with previous VTE after oral anticoagulant treatment withdrawal.
This study is for patients with ErbB2 overexpressing breast cancer that has spread to the brain and is still progressing there even after radiation treatment using WBRT (whole brain radiotherapy) or SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery) to the brain. The study will determine how safe and effective lapatinib is when given in combination with capecitabine to treat patients with ErbB2 overexpressing breast cancer that has spread to the brain. Lapatinib is an oral drug that will be taken every day. Tests for safety and efficacy will be performed regularly during the course of the study.
This study will be a multicentre randomized, open-label, phase IIIb study. This study will evaluate two different techniques of sedation: an analgesia based regimen with remifentanil versus a conventional sedation based regimen using propofol in subjects that require mechanical ventilation for at least 2 days in the ICU. The conventional sedation based regimen will consist of propofol combined with an opioid according to routine clinical practice (morphine, fentanyl, sufentanil or other as required) . The analgesia based regimen will consist of remifentanil, with propofol added on if required.
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tamiflu in patients with clinically-diagnosed influenza occurring during an influenza outbreak within the community. Patients will be randomized to receive Tamiflu 75mg bid orally plus support therapy (NSAIDs and antibiotics) or support therapy alone. The anticipated time on study treatment is <3 months, and the target sample size is <100 individuals.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of lonidamine (50mg, 150mg) compared to placebo in subjects with symptomatic BPH.
The study will evaluate kidney graft function in maintenance renal transplant patients.
This study will evaluate the effect of combination therapy with verteporfin photodynamic therapy and ranibizumab on visual acuity compared to ranibizumab monotherapy and the durability of response observed in patients with choroidal neovascularization secondary to age-related macular degeneration
To demonstrate a dose response for 1 mg, 5 mg and 20 mg TID oral sildenafil for the treatment of subjects with PAH.
