There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is a rare, severely disabling disease characterized by heterotopic ossification (HO) often associated with painful, recurrent episodes of soft tissue swelling (flare-ups) that lead to ankyloses of major joints with cumulative and irreversible loss of movement and disability.
ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients affected by multivessels coronary artery stenosis, represent a clinical relevant problem. The management and prognosis of these patents are supported by few literature data. Therefore, in this study authors enrolled real world diabetic vs. non diabetic patients admitted for STEMI and associated to multi vessels coronary disease. Then these diabetics were divided in incretin users (6 months of incretin treatment before study enrollment) vs. never incretin users. In these patients authors studied all cause mortality, cardiac mortality, and major adverse cardiac events at 12 months follow up.
CPFA is currently used in the treatment of severe sepsis with the intention of removing the proinflammatory mediators from the systemic circulation. Some evidence exists about the bilirubin adsorbing ability of the neutral styrenic resin which is part of the extracorporeal circuit of CPFA. The aim of this study is to assess efficacy and safety of CPFA in extracorporeal detoxification of liver toxins in patients affected by acute or acute-on-chronic liver failure.
Macrophage Activation Syndrome (MAS) is a rare, life-threatening condition characterized by uncontrolled hyperinflammation which may develop on the background of systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA) or Adult-onset Still's Disease (AOSD). Emapalumab is a monoclonal antibody neutralizing interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma), a key cytokine which contributes to the inflammation and tissue damage seen in MAS. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety, tolerability and efficacy of emapalumab in sJIA or AOSD participants developing MAS, presenting an inadequate response to high dose glucocorticoid treatment.
The prevention of perioperative atrial fibrillation (AF) and myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) has the potential to reduce mortality, stroke, and hospital stays in patients undergoing major thoracic surgery. Data from cardiac surgery patients suggest that prevention of perioperative atrial fibrillation using an anti-inflammatory agent, such as colchicine, is feasible. The COP-AF trial will assess whether the administration of oral colchicine will reduce the incidence of perioperative atrial fibrillation and myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery in patients undergoing major thoracic surgery.
This prospective randomized study will compare the regression rates of women managed with watch-and-wait approach and of those treated with 3 cycles of luteal 25mg subcutaneous progesterone from 18 to 25 days of menstrual cycle
The purpose of this single arm, multi-center study is to confirm the safety and effectiveness of the AMPLATZERâ„¢ PFO Occluder in the post Approval Setting.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of monthly and quarterly subcutaneous (sc) injections of fremanezumab compared with sc injections of placebo in participants with chronic migraine (CM) or episodic migraine (EM) who have responded inadequately to 2 to 4 classes of prior preventive treatments. Approximately equal numbers of participants from each subgroup (CM and EM) are randomized in blinded-fashion 1:1:1 into one of 3 treatments for the subgroup - 2 active treatments and 1 placebo treatment- consisting of monthly injections for 3 months (up to Week 12). Then all participants continue into an open-label extension of 3 months (up to Week 24) during which everyone is administered sc injections of fremanezumab.
The study uses a specific hand tracking sensor (Leap Motion Controller) to catch the movements of the arm combined with proper pre-defined musical patterns (sonification) in a neurologic music therapy perspective. The aim of the experiment is to verify the efficacy of sonification technique (compared to usual care) in the hand rehabilitation of patients with stroke.
The purpose of this study is to collect additional safety and efficacy data during treatment with trifluridine / tipiracil in patients with a pretreated metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Eligible patients may receive an early access to trifluridine / tipiracil through this clinical study until progression of disease, unacceptable toxicity, investigator decision, patient refusal or until market authorization or reimbursement has been granted by the relevant Authority of the country where that patient is treated or until trifluridine / tipiracil is available by a doctor's prescription or can be accessed from another source or Sponsor decision.
