Video Games Therapy on Balance and Cognitive Functions in Mild to Moderate Impaired Multiple Sclerosis Patients.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is often characterized by the presence of balance and cognitive impairments. Cognitive functions play a key role in balance control. Simultaneously performing cognitive tasks decreases walking and balance ability (Dual-Task cost). Rehabilitative treatment of patients with MS does not have to consider separately the motor and cognitive aspects. Video-Game Therapy (VGT) is a novel tool that allows a multimodal training approach. VGT typically provides augmented feedback during training that can contribute to learning motor skills. The main objective of this exploratory study will be to test the effects of a commercially available VGT on balance and cognitive function in ambulatory MS patients compared to a standardized balance platform training (BPT). Secondary, we will explore the effects of VGT and BPT on other domains that are usually impaired in MS population and that can be improved by motor rehabilitation, such as psychological well-being, fatigue and Quality of Life.

Immersive Virtual Environments and Wearable Haptic Devices in Rehabilitation of Children With Neuromotor Impairments

The investigators proposed a controlled, single-blind, unicentric, crossover, randomized, clinical trial to test the effects of immersive virtual environments and wearable haptic devices in the rehabilitation of children with neuromotor impairments. In addition, the proposed approach was compared with respect to conventional therapy. A sample of 8 participants was randomly divided into 2 groups and they attended one of the two therapeutic approach for 4 weeks before crossing over and inverting the therapy. Between the two interventions, there was a wash out period of 4 weeks. The investigators assessed motor abilities of the children with validated clinical scales and motion analysis before/after each phase of the study (T0: baseline, T1: after 4 weeks, T2: after 8 weeks, T3: after 16 weeks, and T4: up to 24 weeks).

Staphylococcus Aureus Surgical Site Infection Multinational Epidemiology in Europe

This is a retrospective multinational, multicenter cohort study with a nested case-control. The study includes all surgical procedures performed at a participating site to prevent bias. Data will be assessed in two populations. Cohort population: Export of electronic file data on demographics, surgical procedure ICPM code, duration of procedure, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score, body mass index, comorbidity ICD codes, and wound class of all patients undergoing surgery. Nested case-control population: For patients establishing S. aureus SSI and 1:1 matched controls from the same center further data will be captured: Length of hospitalization, length of ICU stay and reason as well as attribution to SSI, survival at 30 and at 90 days, antibiotic treatments including duration, functional status at admission and at final discharge; necessity for surgical revision, and death attributed to SSI. If readmission is necessary, reason and attribution to SSI, length of hospitalization and length of ICU stay as well as all antibiotic treatments and their duration will be recorded. The cases causative pathogens including resistance patterns and type of SSI according to CDC criteria will be captured. Matching criteria comprise the following: - Type of procedure - Age - ASA score - BMI - Duration of procedure (as percentile for this procedure) - Diabetes - Sex

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols are programs aiming to implement patients recovery following surgical procedures developed about 25 years ago. ERAS protocols are based on a multi-disciplinary approach encompassing surgery, anesthesiology, nutrition and nursing; each specialty has to fulfill a number of items which have been demonstrated to reduce morbidity rates, hospital stay and to implement functional recovery comparing standard approach. Accordingly, ERAS society developed a Guidelines for a number of procedures, including colorectal. The aim of this study is to evaluate the adherence over the last years to these protocols in eight Department of Surgery in Rome in a series of colorectal cancer patients. Secondary aims are to investigate the correlation of the items adherence with surgical outcome and to establish a network of hospitals aiming to promote ERAS approach on a regional base.

The DERIVATE study was conceived to integrate the information resulted from clinical data, transthoracic echocardiography, and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging to provide a more reliable risk stratification in patients affected by heart failure (HF) and worthy of prophylactic implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy. The main purposes of this multicenter registry are to: 1) determine CMR findings, and specifically late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) features, T1 mapping, and extracellular volume (ECV) that predict sudden cardiac death (SCD) and ventricular arrhythmia; 2) provide a comprehensive clinical and imaging score that effectively improves the selection of patients who deserve a prophylactic ICD therapy; 3) evaluate the contribution of machine learning to predict major adverse cardiac events (MACE) as compared to standard clinical scores.

The primary objective of the placebo-controlled period is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of BIIB092 in participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer's disease (AD) or with mild AD. The secondary objectives of the placebo-controlled period are to evaluate the efficacy of multiple doses of BIIB092 in slowing cognitive and functional impairment in participants with MCI due to AD or with mild AD, and to evaluate the immunogenicity of BIIB092 after multiple doses in participants with MCI due to AD or with mild AD.
