The study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of subintimal Supera stenting in complex de novo or re-occlusive CTO (TASC C-D) lesions in patients with CLI. This study will be performed based on a rigorous sample size calculation, which will allow us to have the statistical power to validate our conclusions and therefore establish the generalizability of this strategy.

In diabetes Type II the xerostomia is a quite frequent symptom. In evaluating the activity of an artificial saliva spray compared to a water gel in patients with Diabetes Type II patients had to follow a three day treatment with each product. Whereas after the first treatment period the two groups had to follow a wash out period of three days before the second treatment period could begin. The artificial saliva spray reduced the xerostomia and the inflammation or the oral tissue.

Non Surgical Protocol for Treatment of Peri-implantitis

Peri-implantitis are important disease entities as a result of their high prevalence and the lack of a standard mode of therapy. Non-surgical therapy of peri-implant disease, especially when bone loss is not high, appears to be partially effective in resolving the disease. In several cases, however, only limited improvements have been reported in the main clinical parameters (bleeding at the survey and presence of the pocket) and there is a clear tendency to relapse of the disease. In these cases it is therefore recommended to consider adjunctive therapies. Numerous approaches have been used for implant surface decontamination including mechanical, chemical and treatments by means of air-powder or laser. The aim of the present randomized controlled clinical trial will be to assess the efficacy in improving clinical parameters of two further methods of implant surface decontamination (Er:YAG laser or air-abrasive device) after mechanical and chemical cleaning during non surgical treatment of peri-implantitis.

First-line Combination of Capecitabine and Oxaliplatin Plus Bevacizumab in Elderly Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

- Oxaliplatin-based doublets plus bevacizumab are standard first-line therapy options for patients (pts) with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Slight adjustments in chemo-dosage are commonly applied in routinely practice to elderly pts, but those modified schedules have never been standardized - The addition of oxaliplatin versus no oxaliplatin to treatment with 5-fluorouracil in older and frail untreated pts with mCRC resulted in a non-statistically significant trend toward improvement in Progression Free Survival (PFS) and a lack of benefit in Overall Survival (OS) - In elderly pts deemed unfit for an upfront combined chemotherapy a fluoropyrimide-based monotherapy plus bevacizumab is considered a reasonable first-line treatment - Clinical definition of elderly (over 70 years old) pts with CRC that may deserve a more or less intensive combination therapy is still debated. The cut-off of 75 years old combined with ECOG PS assessment is a reasonable approach for clearly defining candidates to different approaches - Several geriatric screening tools have been used to identify pts with a geriatric profile potentially predicting for overall survival and risk of toxicity. The G8 screening tool has been already validated in pts with cancer showing the strongest prognostic value for OS; the CRASH score is able to stratify pts according an estimated risk of treatment-related toxicities On the basis of these considerations, we designed the present observational study of first-line therapy with bevacizumab in combination with capecitabine and oxaliplatin in previously untreated elderly pts affected by unresectable mCRC in order to evaluate its efficacy in real world practice (as measured by progression free survival)

Effects of Long-Term Administration of Human Albumin in Subjects With Decompensated Cirrhosis and Ascites

This is a phase 3, multicenter, randomized, controlled, parallel-group, and open-label clinical study to evaluate the efficacy of standard medical treatment (SMT) + Albutein 20% administration versus SMT alone in subjects with decompensated cirrhosis and ascites. The study population will consist of subjects being discharged after hospitalization for acute decompensation of liver cirrhosis with ascites (or with prior history of ascites requiring diuretic therapy) with or without acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) at admission or during hospitalization but without ACLF at discharge.
