There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
As the population ages and medical progress is made, many elderly patients that previously would not have been candidates for surgery are now undergoing operations. In this group of older patients, brain dysfunction after anesthesia and surgery, naming post-operative cognitive dysfunction, is well known. Post-operative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a term used to describe subtle changes in cognition, such as memory and executive function. The most commonly seen problems are memory impairment and impaired performance on intellectual tasks. In severe cases, it can lead to inability to perform daily living functions. It was previously found that the presence of cognitive dysfunction 3 months after non-cardiac surgery was associated with increased mortality. The mechanisms leading to cognitive impairment after anesthesia and surgery are not yet fully clear. The risk factors are related to patient characteristics, type of operation and anesthetic management. The investigators have recently shown that using different electrophysiological markers, they can monitor attention and perception which might be associated with brain frailty and brain injury. The aims of this proof of concept study are: (i) to find-out whether attention processes might be in association with brain frailty. (ii) to find our whether brain injury which is expressed by interhemispheric synchronization is is associated with POCD; (iii) to find out whether the level of anesthesia, as measured electrophysiological by perception might be linked primary to POCD.
This is a Phase 2, multicenter, open-label study to provide continued supply of parsaclisib as monotherapy or in combination therapy with itacitinib, ruxolitinib, or ibrutinib to participants from Incyte-sponsored studies of parsaclisib.
The antifungal voriconazole is effective for the treatment of invasive fungal infections in immunocompromised patients. A serious adverse reaction is QT interval prolongation, which may precede life-threatening arrhythmias, such as torsades de pointes. Although ventricular arrhythmias are mentioned as a possible adverse effect of voriconazole, thus far, the incidence and clear recommendations for QT follow-up have not been published. This prospective observational study aimed at describing the incidence of voriconazole induced- QT interval prolongation in the pediatric population and determine the risk factors for this phenomenon.
Study Evaluating Efficacy and Safety of Panzyga in Primary Infection Prophylaxis in Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Goal of the Program: To develop personal and group ability for participants in the DPP to plan and implement health promotion programs. Objectives: 1. Develop skills in the planning, implementation, and assessment of community-based health promotion programs 2. Personal, group and community capacity development in health promotion
Both amniocenteses and especially feticide are procedures that incorporate both anxiety and pain. As anxiety and pain can be reduced when using a distraction, The investigators speculate that the use of virtual reality glasses during these procedures will elevate both anxiety and pain. The investigators will examine this hypothesis by comparing two groups of participants who undergo amniocentesis or feticide, one group will undergo the procedure while using virtual reality glasses and the other without the use of the glasses.
Glioblastoma (GB) is the most common and aggressive type of primary malignant brain tumor in adults. Despite advances in surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, prognosis remains very poor. Temozolomide (TMZ) as an alkylating agent has become part of GBM management but it has contributed only marginally to prolongation of life in GBM patients. Our aim is to evaluate the therapeutic potential of the trace element zinc to facilitate temozolomide tumor cell toxicity in GBM. P53 gene is inactive/mutant in most of these patients which may affect the resistance to apoptosis of tumor cells by chemotherapy. Zinc (Zn) has a crucial role in the biology of p53, in that p53 binds to DNA through a structurally complex domain stabilized by zinc atom. We have shown that the cytotoxic activity of TMZ is substantially increased with the addition of zinc in vitro with GBM cell lines as well as in vivo, with intracranial GBM xenografts. Numerous studies of zinc in animal models and in human subjects support its use in the treatment and possibly the prevention of cancer. Zinc has been consumed by the public as an essential mineral (and thus is category A drug) in concentrations which allows this effect with Temozolomide. Vitamin C could add to this by priming the immune system for lymphocyte- linked cancer killing. The vitamin c increases the number of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes and enhances the activation of the immune system. We propose a single arm phase II clinical trial in 30 newly diagnosed GBM patients who will be treated with the standard chemo-radiotherapy with the addition of zinc and vitamin C.
Objectives of Medical Research: Separation of LDL and HDL from blood samples of patients with high LDL and / or low HDL who have developed atherosclerotic disease with similar patients who have no evidence of atherosclerosis. Lipidomics and proteomics will examine whether there is a difference in lipid and protein composition and lipoprotein composition. If there are any changes in expression level or the composition of proteins or metabolites that make up lipoproteins, the investigator will try to figure out the mechanism responsible for these changes and their role in the metabolic process. the investigator will seek therapeutic measures through which these mechanisms can be inhibited and thus inhibit the development of sclerosis or even retraction.
This is a phase 1b/2 study of KRT-232 combined with ruxolitinib in subjects with MF who have a suboptimal response after at least 18 weeks of treatment with ruxolitinib. The primary objective of the study is to determine a recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) of KRT 232 in combination with ruxolitinib.
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of belantamab mafodotin in combination with pomalidomide and dexamethasone (Arm A) compared with that of combination of pomalidomide, bortezomib and dexamethasone (Arm B) in participants with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM).
