NCT ID: NCT00600093 Terminated - Parkinson Disease Clinical Trials

Perioperative Treatment of Parkinsonian Patients With Parenteral Amantadine

Start date: January 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether administrating of Amantadine (a dopamine agonist) to patients suffering from Parkinson disease during the perioperative period is safe, and to asses potential benefits of this treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00589693 Terminated - Clinical trials for Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia

To Compare Safety and Efficacy of Doripenem Versus Imipenem-Cilastatin in Patients With Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia

Start date: April 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to show that doripenem is as effective as imipenem-cilastatin in the treatment of patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia.

NCT ID: NCT00589433 Terminated - Rotator Culf Tear Clinical Trials

Follow Up Study of Tear in the Rotator Culf

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Rotator culf tears are common in the aging population and are a significant morbidity source. The common knowledge is that the major tears do not heal and constantly expanding.Still since the majority of the patients are old the acceptable therapy is conservative treatment. Our objective is to estimate the accuracy of rotator culf tear utilizing an ultrasound.

NCT ID: NCT00589407 Terminated - Neck Pain Clinical Trials

Unilateral Blindness/ Unilateral Deafness-relation to Neck Pain

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Neck pain is a common complaint in the general population affecting 10-15% of the general population. females more than men. Known risk factors are: Trauma, Repetitive lifting of heavy objects at work, driving vibrating vehicles, frequents diving from boards and smoking. No study dealt with the possible role of unilateral loss of vision or hearing as a risk factor for the development of neck pain. Intuitively, one might suspect that unilateral blindness or deafness will lead to a tilted position of the head, in order to cover a better visual/audio field. This position, in time, might lead to the development of neck pain. Our hypothesis is that patients with unilateral blindness/deafness will suffer from neck pain more frequently than the general population.

NCT ID: NCT00585845 Terminated - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Non-Small-Cell Lung

Study of Safety and Tolerability of Intravenous CRS-207 in Adults With Selected Advanced Solid Tumors Who Have Failed or Who Are Not Candidates for Standard Treatment

Start date: December 2007
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This clinical trial will evaluate the safety and tolerability of CRS 207 an investigational product that is a weakened form (attenuated) of Listeria monocytogenes, a type of bacteria that is commonly found in the environment. CRS-207 has been altered in the lab to reduce its ability to cause disease, while maintaining stimulation of the immune system. CRS 207 has also been genetically modified with recombinant DNA to release an antigen called Mesothelin. Because CRS 207 stimulates an immune response to Mesothelin and Mesothelin may be present at higher levels on tumor cells than on normal cells, this clinical trial will also examine if CRS 207 boosts the immune system in a way that targets certain types of cancer. The purpose of this first clinical trial with CRS-207 is to identify an appropriate dose of the investigation agent for later clinical studies and to explore safety when given to consenting adults with advanced cancer of the ovary or pancreas, non-small cell lung cancer, or advanced malignant epithelial mesothelioma. Immunological response to CRS-207 and tumor status of study participants will also be measured. Patients who choose to enter the study must meet all study entry criteria and must have previously failed standard treatment for their cancer. Qualifying study patients will be assigned to receive one of several dose levels of CRS-207. Each patient may receive up to 4 intravenous administrations (21 days apart) of CRS-207 at their assigned dose level.

NCT ID: NCT00585312 Terminated - Clinical trials for Adenomatous Polyposis Coli

Trial In Pediatric Patients With Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)

CHIP
Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To test whether celecoxib can be used to prevent colon polyp formation in children with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).

NCT ID: NCT00580216 Terminated - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Weekly Subcutaneous Biotinylated Idraparinux Versus Oral Adjusted-dose Warfarin to Prevent Stroke and Systemic Thromboembolic Events in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

BOREALIS-AF
Start date: December 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The objective is to evaluate whether once weekly subcutaneous (SC) injection of idrabiotaparinux is at least as efficient to prevent clots in brain and in the other organs than oral international normalized ratio (INR) adjusted-dose warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).

NCT ID: NCT00560625 Terminated - Clinical trials for Adrenal Insufficiency

Does Inhaled Busedonide or Fluticasone Impair Adrenal Function?

Start date: May 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Inhaled corticosteroids are largely used in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive lung diseases. The purpose of this study is to determine if the use of inhaled corticosteroids is associated with suppression of endogenous cortisol production, as seen in patients treated with pharmacologic doses of oral or parenteral steroids.

NCT ID: NCT00559650 Terminated - Clinical trials for Congestive Heart Failure

Placebo Controlled, Randomized, Double-blind, Multi-center Study to Investigate the Efficacy and Tolerability of BAY58-2667

Start date: December 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess a dose titration scheme, of a new drug (BAY58-2667) given intravenously, to evaluate if this is safe and can help to improve the well-being, symptoms (e.g. breathing) and outcome of decompensated heart failure. Patients living with chronic heart failure have a risk of increased number of hospitalisations because of worsening of their condition (decompensated heart failure). The current treatment of acute heart failure consists of oxygen and medical treatment with vasodilators and positive inotropic agents (drugs, which should strengthen the pump function of the heart) which have their limitations. Therefore there is a need for new drugs in treatment of acute heat failure.

NCT ID: NCT00558376 Terminated - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Polyethylene Glycol Versus Sodium Phosphate for Colon Preparation After Failure of First Preparation for Colonoscopy

Start date: January 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy of Polyethylene glycol versus sodium phosphate as purgative for colon preparation to colonoscopy, after the failure of preparation with sodium phosphate for first colonoscopy. The hypothesis tested is whether there is advantage for substituting the purgative used, as compared to repeating the colonoscopy with the same purgative.Briefly, patients whose preparation was inadequate, will be allocated randomly to a group that will receive 3L Polyethylene glycol versus a group that will receive sodium phosphate(45ccX2). Both groups will be instructed to extend low-fiber diet to 5 days. Cleanliness of the colon at colonoscopy will be assessed blindly by an experienced endoscopist.
