This comprehensive scientific research will investigate the influence of the weight-bearing mechanical axis on foot and ankle following total knee arthroplasty. Few studies have monitored the outcome of surgical treatment using similair methods, and consequently the aim of this study was to evaluate the change in upper and lower leg load by analyzing radiographic recordings and pedobarographic measurements after the implantation of total knee endoprosthesis. In addition to objective instruments, knee and foot questionnaires will be used to describe the functional outcome of the operation of the subjects. The practical contribution of this research lies in the prediction of possible changes in the joints of the feet depending on the type of knee deformity (varus / valgus). Our research will consist of: analysis of postero-anterior radiographs of the lower extremity (weight-bearing) preoperatively and at the follow-up three months postoperatively, pedobarographic analyzes preoperatively and at the control examination three months postoperatively, analysis of personal data (age, gender, weight and height, operated side) and completion of functional standardized questionnaires (AOFAS, KOOS) preoperatively, and at the screening three months postoperatively.
Participants will be randomly assigned to suture-based wound closure (n=50) or tissue adhesive-based wound closure (n=50) with two-component skin adhesive Glubran Tiss 2®. The outcomes will be assessed during the follow-up period at intervals of 2, 6, and 12 weeks postoperatively. A scar assessment will be using the POSAS (Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale) and cosmetic VAS (Visual Analog Scale). The VNRS (Verbal Number Rating Scale) will used to assess pain.

A healthy lifestyle, based on the promotion of a particular dietary pattern, regular physical activity, psychological support, education, and small group intervention results in weight loss. We are aiming to develop a five-days small group-based lifestyle modification program on weight loss that would be appropriate in the general practice and outpatient setting facilities. A structured 5-day lifestyle modification program led by endocrinologists-diabetologists together with a nutritionist, a psychologist, and a kinesiologist is aiming to educate on lifestyle modification necessary to lose weight.

Previous studies did not reach a consensus on the influence of the type of anesthesiologic procedure and monitoring, during carotid thrombendarterectomy, on perioperative complications and cognitive outcomes. The aim of this study is the optimization of brain perfusion during the vascular carotid clamp using multimodal monitoring. We assume that standardized monitoring techniques and a better selection of cognitive tests will allow a more accurate assessment of subclinical cognitive deficits.

Athlete nutrition is becoming an increasingly important factor on the path to achieving top results. Nutrients such as soluble fiber can alter the intestinal microbiota, resulting in metabolites with a positive effect on metabolism. Thus, the fibers become available, an additional source of energy to the host, have an anti-stress effect and delay the feeling of fatigue. The primary goal of the study is to determine the impact of soluble dietary fiber on increasing athletic efficiency, the secondary goal is to determine the impact of fiber on delaying fatigue. Subjects will be randomly divided into experimental and control group. The sample of variables will consist of genome microbiota genome sequencing data, measures to assess morphological characteristics, lower extremity explosive strength tests, and cardiovascular endurance. The statistical package SPSS will be used for data processing. The expected scientific contribution of this research is to expand the scientific knowledge about the importance of dietary fiber in the diet of athletes with the aim of improving sports performance.

The hypothesis of this research is that the consumption of n-3 PUFAs in the form of functionally enriched chicken meet has a beneficial effect on vascular reactivity measured in different vascular beds, and the lipid profile with a positive effect on the reduction of oxidative stress and inflammatory response in healthy sedentary individuals. The main goal of this study is to investigate the influence of n-3 PUFAs functionally enriched chicken meet on vascular and endothelial function in a population of healthy young subjects and active athletes.
Carnosine is a dipeptide synthesized in the body from β-alanine and L-histidine. It was originally discovered in skeletal muscle where it is present in larger amounts than in other tissues, but it is also found in high concentrations in the brain, heart, and gastrointestinal tissues of humans. Although its physiological role has not been completely understood yet, carnosine is a non-enzymatic free-radical scavenger and a natural antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. The hypothesis of this research is that the consumption of carnosine supplements in the form of capsules, as well as chicken meat enriched with carnosine (functional food) has a beneficial effect on vascular reactivity measured in different vascular basins, and the lipid profile with a positive effect on the reduction of oxidative stress and inflammatory response in healthy sedentary people. subjects and active athletes measured in different vascular basins. The aim of this study is to compare the dimensional changes of the gingiva due to initial periodontal therapy in non-smokers and cigarette smokers and to compare the oral health related quality of life of non-smokers and cigarette smokers with periodontitis before and after initial periodontal therapy. Changes in gingival volume are expected to be greater in non-smokers than in cigarette smokers. It is expected that the quality of life will be better after therapy in both groups, with better results in the non-smoking group. 60 subjects with periodontitis will be included in the study 30 non-smokers and 30 cigarette smokers. All subjects will fill out a quality of life questionnaire which will be validated before the onset of this research. This will be followed by clinical periodontal examination. After examination, the upper and lower jaw will be scanned using an intraoral scanner and initial periodontal therapy will be performed. After 8 weeks, subjects will fill out the quality of life questionnaire again, measurement of periodontal indices and scanning will be performed. The digital scans wll be superimposed, and the dimensional changes of the gingiva will be quantified and compared between the two groups. By using 3D technology, it will be possible to objectively quantify tissue changes and monitor the course of the disease. A 3D comparison between non-smokers and cigarette smokers will provide a new perspective on the relationship between smoking and periodontitis. Furthermore, it will be demonstrated to what extent smoking affects the quality of life of patients with periodontitis and the results of non-surgical therapy.
