There are about 36633 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in France. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The lockdown of the French population is a health measure put in place in response to the pandemic linked to a new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19). After a health campaign to recommend hygienic "barrier gestures" and social distancing, the decision to confine the population at the national level was decided by the executive from Monday 16 March to Monday 11 May 2020. The national confinement implies the restriction of movement to the strict necessary, outings near the home and the closure of schools and communities. These decisions have led to an unprecedented state of stress for the entire French population, the consequences of which are unknown in the short, medium or long term. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the psychological impact of the confinement on adolescents with or without chronic disease and also the difficulties and fears engendered by deconfinement .
Congenital malformations concern 3% of pregnancies; most of them can be seen during pregnancy. For some malformations, an invasive sample (trophoblast biopsy or amniocentesis) is proposed to search a chromosomal abnormality by the technique of DNA chip. However, some strongly suggestive signs of a genetic (and not chromosomal) pathology have a very low diagnostic rate with this technique. In the absence of an etiological diagnosis, the prognosis for the unborn child is very difficult to assess, as we can't know if the fetal malformation is really isolated or associted to other unseen features as part of a syndromic condition. For some malformations strongly suggestive of a genetic condition, we propose to realize an exome (i.e. all coding parts of the genome) sequencing of the trio (child and the 2 parents) with a delivery time compatible with the emergency situation of a pregnancy (6 weeks maximum). We will apply bioinformatics filters to analyse only genes known to be involved in the malformation present in the unborn child and thus avoid the identification of variants in unrelated genes. These lists of genes have been previously validated by the Rare Disease Health Sectors and the affiliated diagnostic laboratories. The selected malformations are: 1) anomalies of the central nervous system (microcephaly (<- 2DS) with anomalies of gyration, anomalies of the posterior fossa, anomalies of the midline except agenesis of the corpus callosum), 2) ophthalmological anomalies (microphthalmia, hyperplasia vitreous) and 3) renal abnormalities (large hyperechoic kidneys).
The current situation, linked to the pandemic of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 generates health concerns, but is also accompanied by many other psychological, social, economic, professional, etc. consequences as well as numerous changes in behavior and lifestyles, notably due to confinement. While the prevention of chronic low back pain and its management are primarily based on the practice of regular physical and sports activity, other psychological factors (stress, anxiety, depression), socioeconomic (low level of education, resources), professionals (physical workload, job dissatisfaction), etc. also have a major role in the onset and the persitence of low back pain. Thus, it is to be supposed that the current context, and more particularly the confinement to which the population has been constrained for almost 2 months, have and will have notable consequences on the evolution of lumbar symptoms in chronic low back pain patients. However, the entanglement of different factors related to containment will potentially have different consequences depending on the individual. It therefore seems difficult to predict how the lumbar symptoms will develop in this population. Indeed, if it can imagined that the decrease in regular physical activity and the increase in anxiety in this context of insecurity could lead to an increase in pain, it could just as well consider that the decrease in stress work, strenuous physical work or travel time from work to home can, on the contrary, have a favorable effect. The objective of this study is to assess the confinement effect on low back pain intensity in chronic low back pain patients. This is an observational, descriptive, transversal and pluricentric study conducted by a single questionnaire.
The current project is a prospective, multicentric cohort study aiming at a multidisciplinary assessment (pulmonary, cardiometabolic, sleep and mental health) of the consequences of infection by SARS-CoV-2, 3 months after the diagnosis in order to better characterize these complications. 400 patients with a positive diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 will be included in the study 3 months after their diagnosis: They will be followed at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years, as function of their after-effects discovered at 3 months and their evolution.
Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker widely used to treat cardiovascular diseases however it is also the first line treatment in the prevention of cluster headaches. In France, its prescription in that indication is based on compliance with the Temporary Recommendation for Use (RTU) that insists on the possible the cardiac side effects that can occur as the doses required for cluster headache are significantly higher than the doses used in cardiology.
About 5% of COVID-19 patients may present symptoms related to acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Treatment-management and outcomes related to mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for COVID-19 infected patients harboring large vessel occlusion is largely unknown. This multicentric study aims to investigate morbidity, mortality and neurological outcomes after MT performed in patients with COVID-19 infection.
Although direct evidence is currently lacking, the high identity between SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 suggests, that the latter viral strain could also infect the Central Nervous System (CNS). Indeed, some cases of SARS-COV2 encephalitis begin to be described and CNS damages are increasingly highlighted in the literature, but still not objectified by imaging and do not allow to explain the entire clinical patterns. We hypothesise that these CNS damages are not always objectified by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) but could be indirectly observed by a physiological dysfunction of neural conduction in the brainstem. We will explore brainstem disruption through an electrophysiological approach.
The main objective of this study is to describe the incidence of thromboembolic events in a population of patients hospitalized in intensive care units in France for severe COVID-19. The secondary objective of this study is to describe the evolution of hemostasis parameters during the first two weeks of intensive care hospitalization and to evaluate the influence of different anticoagulation regimens on these parameters and on the incidence of thromboembolic events
Biliary stent allows the drainage of the bile ducts palliatively or preoperatively in the event of malignant biliary stenosis, and a biliary calibration in the event of benign stenosis. Currently, by expert agreement, the diameter is 10-mm for metal stent. Since 2017, larger stents have been marketed in France and are approved for the biliary drainage of benign and malignant biliary stricture. These new 12-mm diameter stent could reduce the risk of recurrent biliary obstruction (RBO) and therefore increase the stent duration. The aim of our study was to compare whether the permeability of 12-mm diameter stent was better than a conventional 10-mm, covered or uncovered prosthesis depending on the indication.
COVID-19 is an emerging disease, for which no specific treatment options are currently available. Since the end of February 2020, and due to a SARS-CoV-2 superspreading event (religious meeting), the Strasbourg University Hospital (HUS) had faced a sudden increase of the number of COVID-19-positive patients in serious condition requiring hospitalization. At the same time, many people develop only mild or moderate symptoms. To date, the prognostic factors for the course of SARS-CoV-2 infection are unknown. The primary purpose of the "COVID-HUS" protocol is to investigate viral and host-related factors to understand the pathophysiology of COVID infection and to open the way for new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic strategies against SARS CoV-2 . The secondary objectives are - Monitoring of viral replication of SARS-CoV-2 in the blood and respiratory tract in infected patients - Monitoring of the humoral and cellular response directed against SARS-CoV-2 - Identification of factors leading to significant and / or prolonged viral replication of SARS-CoV-2 in the blood or respiratory samples - Evaluation of the benefit of possible treatments implemented following the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection - Exploration of the B and T immune repertoire sequences targeting SARS-CoV-2 in infected patients - Typing of the HLA system in infected patients
